@Stallion I have used it whilst boating, indoors to film unboxings, in artificial light, low light, bright light (sweet spot), over-cast whilst in the pacific northwest (still no issue), underwater in a pool. Most underwater, from what I recall was too dark. I took it to Hawaii and it succeeded there because the water is so clear. Snaps quick shots and does stellar video.
HD cinematography by your aspiring Steven Spielberg, professional quality, and extreme durability...waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and most of all KID-PROOF! It's the most powerful HD camera that you'd trust with your kids. Simply Incredible!
I got a 3 year old and 5 year old, both girls. Seeing all that stuff, couldn't help but think of the latest Barbie box or Disney princess or whatever: a basic doll with two outfits, half a dozen shoes, hair clips, accessories, etc. It's fun for five minutes, then they're all over the house, next thing you know, dad steps on one, flashback to the jungle and punji sticks.
@Stallion Not too sure about the missing parts. Morning save is owned by Mediocre which is also the parent company of Meh. I find it unbelievable that they would have two different products for both sites. I think the camera package is the same but it doesn't come with the extra go-pro accessory pack which is right if you're comparing the price with the $69.99 Amazon price.
@densa Thanks a ton!!! I've been looking for a Mobius replacement and this is going to be perfect! I was so bummed out when I went to buy this and they were sold out.
@jbartus no need to apologize. my dog is 14 years old and is starting to exhibit problems with his legs (terrier trembles, arthritis and inability to pivot/maneuver the way he used to). but i still want to ensure that he gets out and about. he initially starts out walking and then when he shows signs of tiring, i pop him in his stroller and continue on. sometimes he will indicate that he wants to get out of the stroller to walk a bit more and other times he is content to ride the rest of the way home.
@annwat oh I understand. My dogs are getting up there too so I can definitely empathize. Our dog Peaches, a jack russel/border collie mix effectively went blind a couple of months ago, it was horrible! Luckily, through trying different treatments we were able to affect a drastic improvement to the point that she's now back to her old self. My other dog, Colby, is on four or five medications at this point. The things we do for our pets.
Noice! In for two cams and the Go-Pro kit. festive-addicted-town & horrific-temporal-sorcerer (had to try and remember how many I already had before I bought the second).
I'm in it for time lapse mode, I got the last action cam as well for HD video, also have my phone for HD video. . just upgraded from stock RAM and graphics in my computer soooo, in theory I am all set for learning how to youtube!
@Stallion It ain't no GoPro, so if you mitigate your expectations commensurate to the $35 buy-in, I'm sure you'll get your money's worth.
I recently did a couple YouTube vids comparing 3 cheap cameras to a GoPro H3+ Black and each camera has it's positives and shortcomings. Unfortunately the nabi wasn't in the mix, but it gives you some idea that a $25 camera can be "good enough".
@ruouttaurmind Thanks for sharing. For $35 with all the accessories i'm guessing i'll be more than happy with the quality considering i'm going the cheap route.
@ruouttaurmind the challenge with using YouTube for video quality comparisons is that YouTube itself does video improvement processing, no? And it happens over time after the video is uploaded.
So there's no way to really know which cameras might or might not be assisted by that YT processing.
@RedOak but if you want the camera to create Youtube videos, that is the ideal mode of comparison. No sense buying the camera with better-than-youtube resolution...
@dlskidmore perhaps, assuming you care about putting your videos up on YouTube.
My comment referred to using a YouTube video to evaluate cameras as cameras independent of potential YouTube purposes.
If YouTube's automatic processing is pretty good (it likely is) then it might fix many of a crappy camera's shortcomings, making it appear closer to a better camera than it is.
@RedOak If that's what YouTube's going to do, one might consider it part of that camera's processing chain, as long as YouTube is your designated destination.
@RedOak I do post prod in Adobe Premiere Pro. In this case I did NOT do ANY post processing with the exception of sizing for the 4-frame sequence, and assembly of the scenes.
When I upload to YT, I'm asked if I want to apply various enhancements (I always decline because YT post processing seldom provides desirable results; usually the result is a muddy mess).
I can assure you: what you see in these videos is a reasonable representation of the native data as capped by the cameras.
@ruouttaurmind Wow, I was so just taking a stab in the dark there. I lived just a few blocks north from the PV mall. I don't know about the tech stuff here, but you sure have a bunch of cameras. Did you mount all 4 on your dash at the same time?
@growyoungagain I mounted them to a board and called it my custom test fixture. I used big spring clips to attach the board to the dash in the truck. When I got to the mall I took the test fixture and just held it while walking, standing, etc.
No wifi, maybe I shouldn't have pulled the trigger. Amazon has wifi models for $43. Good for checking camera aim (recording sports for coaching for instance)
I can't say if this is the same as the Nabi Pro HD (also sold as a kids camera) but I have two and shoot 175 degree stills that are sharp and work in low light. The build quality is much better than a few I've been sent for review and the image quality is waaaay better. Haven't tried the housing, but the video and sound are also very good.
Why did I just buy 1 bundle and 1 kit? I never have thought it'd be nice to have a go pro for anything....oh well, midnight impulse buy, at least the image is fitting
@thismyusername thank you, I knew that, I bought the extra kit for my sister. I just don't know why I bought a bundle too, maybe I'll gift it or something
@cturnr Hah, oh yeah I forgot that I used to go right past that tree every day on the way to the bus. 2:55 in the video. Good spot, fellow Seattleite ;)
@The_Tim I also bought that Swann camera from the same site and it has been a good camera until the battery died. I cannot find a replacement battery anywhere. I just replaced the camera with a Sony, Midland, Go Pro, and now this Meh deal. Probably a little overkill.
@cengland0 try this http://www.amazon.com/Cameron-Sino-Rechargeble-Battery-SD18/dp/B01E0SGX5I/ I believe the Swann and the Nabi are made by AEE. The meh pictures of the Nabi even show that "Powered by AEE" is printed on the back of the camera. They both look similar to the AEE SD18, but there are also SD19, SD20, and SD21 variants. I don't know the details about the different models so I can't guarantee it will fit your Swann. It looks like it might... The Amazon link is to a $13 battery, I found similar ones on ebay for less than $10.
@mehdaf Thanks for trying to find a replacement battery for me. I still have the old one so I took a photo to compare. I don't believe they are compatible. The Amazon one has the power terminals indented.
@ruouttaurmind I'm building an assortment of cams similar to you, from the look of things. I have a specific application in mind where two identical cameras would be useful so I felt I should jump on this for the price.
@ruouttaurmind I question what goes through the mind of the guy in the video that when he see's a red camera he immediately has visions of a puppy's penis. Maybe I'm the weird one, but when I first saw it I thought "Cool, Farrari red!". Then again, I'm just "city folk" so I don't have much animal penis exposure.
As a professional kid I tear up everything I own, except this. This camera is me proof... I love how it's red and how it records video... and how I can't break it... because, you know, I'm a professional kid... really. I am not some guy in a review factory cranking out positive reviews for a living, not me... no sir, I am a kid.
I have two nabi squares and I love them. I'm hoping this is the same camera. For the $$ it takes very good video and meh photos. The remote is really great to have. I've used mine as a dashcam and I'm very happy with the video. I'm in for one and if it's as good as the square I'll kick myself for not getting two.
I bought this to use as a dash cam too. Can anyone explain how the process works? If I record continuously while driving, when does memory get full? Will it stop recording or start over-writing old video? Do I charge the battery in the cig lighter?
@sjdsmith Not sure if this answers your memory full question: "Loop Recording mode records 15 minute files and deletes oldest file when storage is full"
Was going to buy three, but the cameras are all sold out. Went to morningsave and found VMP members get a small discount, so just the camera was $35. Got two cameras there and one gopro kit here for $80 total. Not as good a deal as I could have had a few hours ago, but I'm not too disappointed.
Hmm, I couldn't get order to process last night but I figured it must have been because it was almost exactly 12:00. But now my order hangs up when I try to select the item again.
I'm interested in this to use as a dashcam, wondering how well it would work in that capacity. That said, the photo that shows all the parts that come with the camera is making me ill. I have spent the last few months trying to declutter my house, and all those little parts look like thousands of other little anonymous mysterious parts that I have tossed. I get ill to my stomach just thinking about bringing any more clutter into my house. Yes, I'm serious, it's got to that point, we live in an age where we're surrounded in, and live in, shit. Some of it is useful shit, most of it is just clutter that builds up around you like a prison cell.
@johntpatterson only when we don't sell out or are able to buy more (and we usually clear all inventory at the manufacturer.) I'd try to find something similar elsewhere vs waiting. Hope we can depress you in a different way tomorrow
Had one of these, maybe an earlier version. Was okay up until the battery door broke off and would never work again. A small plastic tab cracked, and it was rendered useless.
Looks like they're both out of stock and swamped with orders. Meh².
FWIW I have a knockoff with a different label (I'm not convinced these don't all come down the same chute somewhere in Chenzhen somewhere) and it's pretty decent.
@stealthnv 'And if you take one from three hundred and sixty-five what remains?'
'Three hundred and sixty-four, of course.'
Humpty Dumpty looked doubtful. 'I'd rather see that done on paper,' he said.
Alice couldn't help smiling as she took out her memorandum book, and worked the sum for him:
365
1
364
Humpty Dumpty took the book and looked at it carefully. 'That seems to be done right —' he began.
'You're holding it upside down!' Alice interrupted.
'To be sure I was!' Humpty Dumpty said gaily as she turned it round for him. 'I thought it looked a little queer. As I was saying, that seems to be done right — though I haven't time to look it over thoroughly just now — and that shows that there are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents —'
The accessory kit seems to have an offset spot for the lens like on a go pro. The camera in this deal has a lens in the center of the body. Stupid question... will the vivitar kit fit this camera?
@stiege The images that show the gopro (with the offset lens) on the headset and suction cup mount are stock photos from the accessory kit. I'll bet my Fuko that you don't get the gopro, or the cases, just the mounts.
This is listed as a "sponsored deal" over on dealnews.com. Wonder why Meh did that, when they were getting "editor's choice" listings pretty much every day (presumably) for free.
What kind of battery is included (if it is since it's not on the included in the box list) and can replacements be purchased? I'd like to use something like this for a 3-5 hour mountain hike
Read thru comments, and specs. No mention of external audio input capabilities. That, for me, non-starter. Need to capture intercom (aircraft) audio. Did I miss something, anything?
Looking forward to this one arriving! I've considered a GoPro for a while, but couldn't justify the price not knowing exactly how much I'd use it. Time to find out!
@StrangerDanger there is definitely something weird happening with this product... the charge on my card is still pending... in the "my orders" page there is no "discuss this purchase" button... only a problem button... it is very odd.
If you go to fedex and choose track by reference and put your order name in and the zipcode that it is being shipped to you will get tracking info.
These will be sent out in the next day or so for arrival 23-25 as described in the first post. Nothing surprising here about the time. Meh is pretty good at telling you when somehting is going to arrive.
Estimated Delivery: 5/23 - 5/25----- This has been on this thread since the item was for sale.
Just checked my order, and Morningsave sent camera three days ago .... ground... and FedEx says it will be here by a week from today "by end of the day?". Sure glad VMP was used. Dickfarmers.
@AmazingChicken I feel like Dick Farmers would use a faster shipping method. Meh/Mediocre/MorningSave all utilize SmartPost, which is a pretty slow shipping method. This is explained in the meh.com/FAQ - which is worth a read at some point. The shipping timeframe is also clearly posted for every sale in the specs post (top post of every product thread,) along with many more useful details. The Estimated Delivery Date for this product is:
Estimated Delivery: 5/23 - 5/25
So please forgive the Mohels from the dick farm for taking a while to get your order to you. It takes time to properly pack, apply the label, and piss people off. If your order doesn't make it on or before the 25th, let support know.
@Thumperchick So now I feel cheated - the "piss people off" component was largely left to FedWrecks, who received the product on Tuesday and are taking 8-9 days to motor it across the country. This week appears to be spent in the Independent Peoples Republic of New Texas.
Also am pleased to have shared a NH colloquialism with such an appreciative audience. Richard would be proud.
@Thumperchick Should also note, was glad VMP was used 'cause paying extra for longer delivery is never fun. And who says VMP is slow? I have not had any complaints about ship time in past - has always been just fine O Dog I just cursed myself didn't I....
@AmazingChicken it's not that VMP is slower. You get the same shipping with VMP as you do without it. It's that any item can and probably will be shipped vua FedEx SmartPost, which is sloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww.
@djslack I'm apparently a better dick farmer than I thought. Received a pair of Square HD cameras, which are (as best I could tell when researching back when this sale was on) the newer model. That takes some of the sting out of missing a fuko.
@djslack I tried researching this when they sold these... I think the conclusion I came to is that the "Look" is just the "Square" with the lcd back-plate included... sound right?
@thismyusername The thing I noticed were the dates... The Look predates the Square by a couple of years from what I could figure out. I didn't compare specs, so it could be an incremental improvement or the same item with a different name and packaging. The Look that was photographed for this offer has the lcd backplate on it as well, it just appears to be packaged with it already installed.
Got them out to fire up for a quick test. The packaging is its own little piece of puzzle hell, bring a knife and find all the hidden tape. They both seem to work and have at least some memory built in as I didn't install the SD cards yet but recorded some video and took some photos. The screen is nothing to write home about, but I wasn't expecting it to be. Seems fine for aiming your shot or a quick review.
When installing the battery, put the end with the contacts in first. It's not super obvious that there is a tiny tab it must go under to lock in place.
Build quality is OK, they're cheap plastic and you can tell that in places. One of my lcd backplates came with the key that you press to unlock it broken. It doesn't lock in place and makes the screen hard to mount.
Overall, I'm super pleased with this deal. Initial impression: this was one of my better Meh purchases.
I just got mine, and I can't seem to get the suction mount to work with the camera. The center guide is too wide for the slot on the camera attachment. Anyone else?
@mwylile Yeah, it's definitely too narrow to fit on that part of the GoPro mount. The good news is that if you happen to have "real" GoPro mount around, the other part of the mount (with the enormous thumb-screw) does appear to work, meaning that the head band mount and the tripod mounts should work, and you should be able to use the suction cup mount with the "real" GoPro mount. The tripod mount clearance appears to be too small to actually fit the camera, though, but thankfully it doesn't matter: the nabi doesn't need it since it has a "proper" tripod screw base anyway. It does work with the headband mount.
If you really want, you can just remove the base and screw the nabi mount directly to the end of the suction cup mount and get it to fit that way. It's not particularly elegant, but it works.
@Ignorant Nope, is the camera. If you record a noisy scene, it may drown the beeping. But indoors or in a quiet place, it ruins the capture. Funny enough, there is and AUDIO only capture option, I tried it and there were no beeps.
@Joffroi The noise sounds a lot like interference. Cell phone is a strong source but not the only source. It may even be from within the camera itself - or the LCD backplate. Was this recording done with the backplate on?
I'm out of town for the weekend but will experiment with mine when I get home.
@djslack I'm pretty sure the interference is coming from the encoding hardware itself. The smaller the video resolution, the less beeping. There's also an audio recording only mode and using that, I got a WAV file that had only the occasional beep in it - but still had the beeping. At $40 I'm considering trying to open the camera and seeing if there's something obvious that can be shielded to try and resolve this.
@Joffroi No strange noises for me.... I recorded in an empty room with no sounds right next to my cell phone... posting in a second (if I can figure out how to)
As a point of clarification I am using a Samsung Evo+ 32GB microSD... I will check it with the SD that came with the camera.
@Joffroi Well, it does, it’s just that the card it came with is giving off interference. I had a feeling it might be the card when I realized that the beeps seemed to correspond with the card being written to (which is why the audio-only has occasional beeps and higher bitrates have more frequent). Unfortunately the only other card I had on-hand last night was a 64GB card and it only supports up to 32GB.
Dug up a 16GB card this morning and tried with that, and the beeps are gone! So, yeah, the card it comes with is a cheap crappy card. But that’s not really surprising.
Well that's annoying @NombreDeUsuario. I have the morse code noise on the video recording also. I thought it sounded like the cell phone noise and turned my phone off as @Ignorant suggested above. Same noise present. I may need o learn more about it's operation but since I recorded a video, the camera want's to record all of the time. If I power it off and back on, it starts recording immediately. Hopefully this thing isn't a POS.
@Conklaven I have the beeping issue. Almost sounded like a mechanical issue (I know, impossible)... thanks for finding it. Now off to see if I can find that other micro sd card.
The problem that you all are having with the beeping sound is from the memory card that was supplied with the camera. I compared it to an Samsung EVO+ that I have and it only makes the sound when using the transcend Micro SD and not with the samsung. Video shortly
The (audible) artifact is most likely related to exposure compensation while the camera seeks to adjust brightness within the existing ISO limit. The specific digital artifact's signature is most likely present on both recordings, but YouTube compresses the living shit out of everything with their own algorithm so I can't forensically compare the two files and draw a conclusion. There are myriad reasons why it (said artifact) may be audible on one recording and not another. You'll notice that the exposure compensation is more apparent in the (second) file captured on the manufacturer provided SD card, and as such the issue most likely may be correlated to the maximum write speed of the card inserted, overall.
Interesting.
I actually ordered one of these for my son, I'll break it out and see what I can ascertain when I'm sober. (In other words, on Monday after 10:00 AM.)
OK, so @Pavlov is onto something, or on something, or both. I tried a 32GB Samsung Ultra. The morse code noise is (mostly) gone, but there is a continual buzzing noise that is still present. I played back my video made with the Transend card that came with the camera and that buzz was there too. I don't imagine Nabi has compiled a list of compatible memory cards.
@Conklaven Yep, $11.12 at Walmart and also $11.12 at Amazon. Sounds like MAP pricing to me!
Note to all:
Keep in mind that this above pricing is for the EVO not the EVO+, which has almost 2x the write speed (80mb/s vs 48mb/s) and if the noise is in fact due to the write speed of the card, then I’ll spend the extra $3 (@ Amazon) and play it safe. Especially since according to Conklaven the sound went away, and the color was better, with the EVO+ he tested!
I haven’t been able to isolate exactly why the ‘beeping’ artifact occurs, my tech guy says it is a toss up between the wireless remote function and the exposure compensation - the only reliable fix I have found is swapping out the included micro SD card as others have reported above. I have been able to replicate the artifact - but even more interestingly, I’ve swapped the included micro SD card for one that is supposed to have exactly the same specifications but is from a different manufacturer, and the artifact is not present. Apparently Nabi found the cheapest piece of shit micro SD card to include with the camera and thought that would be a good idea. Swap the card for a faster one and enjoy the camera. I regret not buying several more - at this price point, they’re disposable.
I used an old card I had, 32GB. It beeps significantly less. Maybe a new one will fix it. The buzz I think is just the cheap built in mic. And no, the beeping is not from uploading to YT. Mine beeps playing it back in the camera.
Anyone figure out how to use the GoPro accessory pack without completely tearing apart the existing accessories? The lip in the middle of both of the GoPro pieces is just a little too big to allow the clip in Nabi mount to go into it, otherwise I’d have to tear the entire mount apart to get the tripod screw mount to work with the gopro accessories.
@slopos I used an utility knife in the middle channel so it would fit the Go Pro mount. It needs just very little material removed to fit. A razor might e better, just shave slivers off it.
@Blahbbs I’ve had one for over a year and the latch was broken when I received it but still works fine. I try not to mess with that latch any more than I have to though. I bought three more of these cameras and the latch is ok on them.
@Ignorant Hey thanks for the quick response, I just saw on amazon page it says comes w a bunch of stuff, such as battery, remote, even SD card… so I’d assume this box comes with just about everything on the Amazon description page? (Excluding accessory kit)
Just got some BS auto response from FedEx/ USPS that mine is being returned to sender for incorrect address. This is the 3rd order from Meh and never had a delivery problem before. Why can’t the post office get it right?
@encmerk Have you tried contacting USPS to see what the issue is? Or perhaps logging a complaint with your local office to see why they aren’t delivering all of a sudden?
@cengland0 Seeing as how I did provide the correct address, and having received 2 previous packages successfully, your suggestion is silly. I did finally get my camera. The local post office sorted it to the wrong truck. When the driver saw the address and realized it wasn’t on his route he simply marked return to sender instead of taking it back and determining if it had been mis-sorted.
Tried the camera last night. The beeping is there with the MicroSD card that it comes with and is gone when I use a different card.
The video is extremely grainy but what can you expect for $35. And when I say grainy, I find it hard to believe it’s really 1080p because I have VHS home movies that look better than this. Maybe it would look better outdoors in full sunlight. I’ll have to do a comparison when I get a chance.
@oanaya312 Paging @hollboll … multiple emails makes it harder for the cs people to get to the answers. It takes a couple of days for them to respond, and weekends don’t count. However, the description says the warranty is through nabi. Hope this helps… https://www.nabitablet.com/legal/warranty
@oanaya312 agreed, multiple emails do make it harder for us to reply since we have more to sort through. It’s just two of us but we’re working through each ticket as soon as we possibly can. Hang in there and we should get back to you soon, I promise we’re not ignoring you.
@sammydog01 if I remember correctly the top button gets you to your settings, the bottom button to your recorded files, and the rocker in the middle for navigation and “OK/select”.
Interestingly the one the reviewer showed is an 8 MP camera. This one from meh is 5 MP. I could not detect any audible noise from her videos, but I couldn’t hear any audio. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mo5jj2Ba0JM
@cengland0 I just had noticed that the packaging in the video stated 8 MP and my packaging states 5 MP. Maybe both cameras are the same but our packaging is more accurate.
Well I got my camera today, it won’t fully charge and the lcd screen goes white and stays there. I can hear beeps when pressing buttons and I’m pretty sure it still records and takes pictures but I cant tell from looking at a white screen. Very disappointed after 2 weeks of waiting.
@Thumperchick I just called them, the girl I talked was nice. I sent a copy of my receipt and they will give me an address to send the camera to. Once they check it out I’ll get a new one.
I just got mine (from morningsave) and the back panel spring-loaded part shot out as soon as I took it out of the package. Other than that, I can’t wait to record some FPV flights with this little guy.
I got one from Meh and one from Morningsave… turns out the Morningsave version is actually the “Square HD” which I think is a newer model. But they’re basically the same.
Packaging is different, branding is different (Meh is “Nabi Look HD”, Morningsave is “Nabi Square HD”)
Look is matte red plastic, Square is glossy
Look is consistently blueish (at least mine is), Square had a more neutral color temperature for the same scene
Look seems like it should have digital zoom (the UI pops up but nothing happens) but it doesn’t work, Square has working zoom
Look comes with a better SD card so the “digital write noise” is quieter… but when I try a card in both the noise is consistently louder with the Square … I couldn’t find a card that would make the Square acceptably quiet, bummer
Happy with both, just didn’t expect the difference.
@awk I just ordered a second on from Morningsave since this Meh one seems so fun. The Steals on the Real video shows the Look packaging that i received from Meh. Weird.
@djslack@awk thanks for reminding me morningsave has these… Not sure if kid ruined his on first trip out. He was trying to be conscientious and tied a string to his camera. He indeed kept it from going over the side of the boat, but he made the seal less than watertight. Sigh… So ordering a backup for summercamp!
I finally got to sit down and play with mine tonight. Video shot on internal memory has no audio noise. (Plenty of video noise in low light in my house, but that’s to be expected.) Video shot on the included sd card has very slight noise, nowhere near the examples posted here. Maybe I’m lucky. I haven’t tried the second camera/card yet for noise. I ordered a pair of 32gb lexar sd cards from Ritz camera (2 for $16 and change from a Slickdeals tip) for these cameras anyway, so I’m not too worried about the included cards.
I also took a file to the gopro mount to let the Nabi sled fit. Filing off a bit of each side of the ridge in the middle as well as the underside of each side arm gives an acceptable, if tight, fit. I could file more and probably make it perfect but I got tired of doing it. I think just pulling the whole clip mount out of the middle and mounting tripod screw arm to suction cup base is really the more straightforward solution, though.
Taking one or maybe both with me this weekend to play. Maybe some fishing action or footage from a plane will come out of it. Maybe even a chainsaw cam if I can get that bugger running to cut some trees down.
Is anyone else having issues with sound levels on video playback? My son’s Nabi Look seems to record more quietly than is reasonable. Yes, we upped the volume on the camera itself, but I didn’t really expect the tiny speaker on the camera to work well, although it plays the button “beeps” loud enough. The camera is not in the waterproof case and my thumb wasn’t over the mic.
Connecting the cam to a TV via either HDMI or composite video produces unacceptable sound levels on the TV, needing to turn up the volume to almost maximum in order to hear anything, even my voice recorded at a distance of less than a few feet. Playing the videos via a computer or tablet are only slightly better, but I still have to turn up the computer’s volume to its max to hear anything.
By the way, I am using a Samsung Ultra+ card and don’t hear any morse-code sounds, plus the picture quality is great! But the recorded sound levels seem to be pretty sub-par.
@deemkooo It’s been awhile since I did it, but you use the standard accessory listed as “bracket” in the manual. It’s the flat platform that mates to the headstrap bracket and the camera sits on it and a screw threads into the bottom of the camera. I’d take a photo and post it if it wasn’t such a pain in the ass to post photos on this forum.
@deemkooo If you want to mount the waterproof case to the headmount you can remove the threaded mount from the top of the sticky mount. All of the stuff is made to be interchangeable. Or else take the top off the suction cup mount from the GoPro kit.
My Mini-USB charging cable doesn’t work. I believe it worked at least for awhile when I charged the camera initially. Now when I plug it into the camera, it will nt indicate it is charging. Is I use a wall-wart I have with a mini-USB cord, the camera will charge. What do I do about getting a replacement?
I noticed this tip on the last page of the manual, which is on the mini disc included with camera.
Tip 6. Cyclic recording and frequent recording/deleting operations may leave data fragments in the SD card, causing failure to record or save files.
To solve this problem, just backup the data to an external storage and format the SD card.
That’s a good tip for any digital camera. Copy the photos or video files off of the memory card and then format the card with the camera.
@djslack contacted manufacturer and they said to contact meh (sigh). They don’t have any in stock anyway/won’t repair. I explained they were a one item a day site, but that didn’t matter.
@deemkooo Ugh. This is the bad thing about this arrangement. Granted, this is a very minor problem with the product. You can shove that clip back in the hole and it will hold the screen on. But it still sucks.
We know Meh buys all the stock of some products. But if they do that and the manufacturer agrees to warranty support, then tries to weasel out of it with “we have no more in stock”, that seems shady. Because what if it’s something more serious than a plastic clip that’s broken?
And it may not even be shady. It may be as simple as the left hand not knowing what the right is doing within Nabi. I work for a company where that happens and can see it easily. But that doesn’t help fix the product.
Does anyone else have issues with the buttons on the waterproof case leaking moisture?
I’ve been using this in backyard swimming pools, and there’s always a little bit of moisture that comes through the little springs under the buttons. It’s not much, but it’s enough to get into the battery compartment in less than an hour!
@rockitmanmeh.com/support will help you out, be warned they dont work weekends and they are only 2 people so it might take a few business days for them to get back to you

How much is the Bluetooth add-on?
Looks decent price wise
Own it. Love it. Bought two. So. Much. Praise.
@connorbush What do you use it for mainly? How does it work in different lighting and how about under water?
@Stallion I have used it whilst boating, indoors to film unboxings, in artificial light, low light, bright light (sweet spot), over-cast whilst in the pacific northwest (still no issue), underwater in a pool. Most underwater, from what I recall was too dark. I took it to Hawaii and it succeeded there because the water is so clear. Snaps quick shots and does stellar video.
Do it?
Oh yeah, considering my kid is almost 6, this is a no-brainer.
@haydesigner By that, I hope you mean that you want to strap it to your kid's head and enjoy the hilarity later!
The amazon description is amazing.
Meh camera accessories - can u picture that
Missed the last one so I'm in on this one. Time to make some YouTube instructional videos!
Was about to buy it and then saw the second photo.
I'm too old to buy a gadget with that many parts.
But you kids, enjoy! Post pictures of all your fun!
@MehnofLaMehncha Just throw everything but the camera away. Or throw the camera away too!
@MehnofLaMehncha I got excited seeing all that stuff. I love opening boxes of STUFF!
@awk
The photo with all the pieces is telling me to not buy this.
Woo woo! First purchase. Tell me I've not been had! :)
@dendar = SUCKER
@dendar "you've not been had."
@RedOak YEP! GOTCHA
@dendar Ha ha, they're just going to send you a brick!
@dendar meh is good.
$69.99 at Amazon...$39.99 at Morningsave.
@densa Missing a few mounting parts at that $39 price though. Meh is still a better deal.
I was so bummed out when I went to buy this and they were sold out.
lost-alcoholic-ham
hmmm, wonder if i could attach this to my dog's stroller.
@annwat either that or to your dog.
@annwat stroller??
@jbartus
@annwat apologies in advance if you've had to answer this a million times before but... why?
Noice! In for two cams and the Go-Pro kit. festive-addicted-town & horrific-temporal-sorcerer (had to try and remember how many I already had before I bought the second).
bought a full set, doesnt look like it has a bike adaptor but whatever
I'm in it for time lapse mode, I got the last action cam as well for HD video, also have my phone for HD video. . just upgraded from stock RAM and graphics in my computer soooo, in theory I am all set for learning how to youtube!
I just can't imagine putting something so ridiculous on my head. I'm probably going to pass on this...
@Dizavid That's not the only body part you can attach it to. Just sayin'.
Does this include a vape pen?
@thismyusername what's the joke here? I work in the vape industry.
@thismyusername ah! I see the pic now! Lol
@thismyusername It looks like it is one of these:

How good/bad are the specs and expected video on this camera?
@Stallion It ain't no GoPro, so if you mitigate your expectations commensurate to the $35 buy-in, I'm sure you'll get your money's worth.
I recently did a couple YouTube vids comparing 3 cheap cameras to a GoPro H3+ Black and each camera has it's positives and shortcomings. Unfortunately the nabi wasn't in the mix, but it gives you some idea that a $25 camera can be "good enough".
@ruouttaurmind I miss Phoenix...
And if this isn't Phoenix
I miss AZ
@CrossIT Good call. North east Phx.
@ruouttaurmind Thanks for sharing. For $35 with all the accessories i'm guessing i'll be more than happy with the quality considering i'm going the cheap route.
@CrossIT So do I, or as I called it NW Scottsdale, kinda Paradise Valley.
@ruouttaurmind the challenge with using YouTube for video quality comparisons is that YouTube itself does video improvement processing, no? And it happens over time after the video is uploaded.
So there's no way to really know which cameras might or might not be assisted by that YT processing.
Can their processing be turned off?
@dlskidmore emm... there are 8K videos on youtube. :)
@growyoungagain Nailed it. PV Mall, and a bit north of the mall off Tatum Blvd.
First purchase here an impulse buy. if I've been had. I will soon be able to record myself to remind me of my poor decision making.
@Mehnj If you've been had, then no you won't!
(But you haven't so it's cool)
No wifi, maybe I shouldn't have pulled the trigger. Amazon has wifi models for $43. Good for checking camera aim (recording sports for coaching for instance)
@jake5snooze use the screen on the back to check aim.
@thismyusername can't when it's up on stilts
@jake5snooze but $43 > $35. Plus the meh version comes with the go pro accessory package.
I'm a man looking for a little action, so count me in.
mousy-unforgiving-arm
Why did I just buy 1 bundle and 1 kit? I never have thought it'd be nice to have a go pro for anything....oh well, midnight impulse buy, at least the image is fitting
flawless-embarrassed-panda
@TaRDy pssst... if your not worried about it selling out you can go to your orders page, cancel it, then buy it without the extra kit...
@thismyusername thank you, I knew that, I bought the extra kit for my sister. I just don't know why I bought a bundle too, maybe I'll gift it or something
This looks identical to the "Swann Freestyle 1080p Action Cam" I bought on that other site for way more money* four years ago.
Decent little action camera. Makes good video. A steal at $35.
Here are a few sample videos:
*[okay it was $140]
@The_Tim video one goes by man in tree tree!
@cturnr Hah, oh yeah I forgot that I used to go right past that tree every day on the way to the bus. 2:55 in the video. Good spot, fellow Seattleite ;)
@The_Tim It does look the same!! I thought the same thing, as I too paid way too much for the Swann. I want to get a couple for multiple views...
@The_Tim I also bought that Swann camera from the same site and it has been a good camera until the battery died. I cannot find a replacement battery anywhere. I just replaced the camera with a Sony, Midland, Go Pro, and now this Meh deal. Probably a little overkill.
@cengland0 try this http://www.amazon.com/Cameron-Sino-Rechargeble-Battery-SD18/dp/B01E0SGX5I/
I believe the Swann and the Nabi are made by AEE.
Thanks to @densa for finding out about AEE
@mehdaf Thanks for trying to find a replacement battery for me. I still have the old one so I took a photo to compare. I don't believe they are compatible. The Amazon one has the power terminals indented.
Amazon Battery:
Swann Battery:
Bought one. Went to YouTube and viewed a comparison with the gopro 3 silver, came back and canceled my order.
So i could buy 2 instead and be nice to Meh's shipping department.
Well, that video was for the Square HD and not the Look HD. But they look nearly identical. Guess I'll search for the differences now.
Video:
@djslack Quality seems very comparable to my Vivitar (which also happens to be puppy pecker red).
@ruouttaurmind I'm building an assortment of cams similar to you, from the look of things. I have a specific application in mind where two identical cameras would be useful so I felt I should jump on this for the price.
@djslack I'm fighting the urge to jump in. Hopefully Meh's supply is less plentiful than my willpower.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I fell for it and bought it over a year and a half ago from woot.
What a piece of crap. The fish eye is way more intense than a go pro and the sound never worked right.
You could barely hear anything.
Don't waste your money. Get a hero 1 for 99 bucks if you must have something or a China knockoff from alibaba
As a professional kid I tear up everything I own, except this. This camera is me proof... I love how it's red and how it records video... and how I can't break it... because, you know, I'm a professional kid... really. I am not some guy in a review factory cranking out positive reviews for a living, not me... no sir, I am a kid.
Also get the VMP... kids love VMP.
@cshillaber What's the typical salary for a professional kid these days?
@cshillaber
In your contractor job, this should be great for sex dungeons.
@cshillaber
hesitant-psychedelic-salmon
promiscuous-lofty-orange
Anybody know what the vertical FOV for stills is like?
can i buy cam only without accessories since i got all those already?
@username that's how they get ya...
Does the software really require a CD (second picture)? My macbook does not approve.
Needless to say I am in. resilient-comfortable-nickel.
@jay14bay It records MOV format so your macbook will approve. CD has the manual, maybe some software but you won't need it.
You could buy the cam and kit together and if the cam sucks or breaks it's the cost of the kit and the kit works for a go pro replacement
Omgomgponiesomg! In for one. My six year old will totes dig this.
AW heck, I'll bite. For the kid in me. Or the dash camera I broke.
versatile-prosperous-iron
It's in Africa! Right on the border of Nigeria and Benin.
Midnight purchase. Also on the fence about getting a gopro and this looks like it'll do for 10% of the cost. rascally-limping-list
$0.11 cheaper than on morningsave
@thomasaelliott I think that's just for the camera without the go pro accessory kit.
And VMP gets renewed. Humdrum-moping-spoon.
Also, I'm preemptively blaming @medz for the East coast whining come morning.
@narfcake
Fuck the East Cost.
Is the charger-cable-thingy universal voltage (110-220)? Can’t tell from the specs / pics
Can I mount this to the inside of a toilet bowl?
@ronmprime maybe but pull your head out there before you try.
@ronmprime Are you trying to start a "swirly cam" channel or just have some kind of bathroom fetish?
KuoH
@kuoh
@kuoh I've been advised by my lawyers not to answer this question.
@jmbunkin Also this company is great to deal with,had a minor problem with one camera and they offered to send me a new one right away.
@mikibell @sjdsmith With this model, you need to stop and restart your car every fifteen minutes.
Was going to buy three, but the cameras are all sold out. Went to morningsave and found VMP members get a small discount, so just the camera was $35. Got two cameras there and one gopro kit here for $80 total. Not as good a deal as I could have had a few hours ago, but I'm not too disappointed.
Mediocre lives up to its name once again.
@stienman Did the same, except ordered one camera.
@stienman Ah thx for the tip!
@defibrillator
Defibrillate.
@defibrillator This has been an issue for over 30 years
gone....... meh!
I wanted it, but no bundles left :(
Dang, how early do I have to get up...
PHUCK! AHH GAWN!
Gonna have meh this since it is sold out! Bummer....
Do these deals ever come back after being OOS?
@johntpatterson
Yes.
I'm trying to buy this and it won't let me in! It shows stock available, but when I try to buy it I can only see the accessory kit..what gives?!
@sipde They look sold out- try Morningsave.com. The price is close and VMP gets you free shipping and I think %10 off. It's a Mediocre company.
@sammydog01 Thanks, that worked!
Looks like they're both out of stock and swamped with orders. Meh².
FWIW I have a knockoff with a different label (I'm not convinced these don't all come down the same chute somewhere in Chenzhen somewhere) and it's pretty decent.
Oh no! Other consumers are preventing me from impulse buying! Why would you take them all?!
Maybe next time :)
OK, east coast whiners, check this out:
https://morningsave.com/deals/nabi-square-hd-action-cam-dash-cam
This is a Mediocre subsidiary- free shipping with VMP and %10 off. No accessory kit but the camera costs the same.
@sammydog01 also still a decent deal if you by the accessory kid from here and the camera from there with VMP.
@sheldoneous And unless you want to look like a goober you may not even need the accessory kit. (Not to imply you're a goober.)
@sammydog01 It's $39. With %10 off, that's $35.10, which is a whole dime more than the price here.
Just my 2 cents (five times over).
@chacham
Isn't the deal here $35 for both accessories and camera? So $45.10 for both if you buy the from morningsaver,
@stealthnv 'And if you take one from three hundred and sixty-five what remains?'
@stealthnv I believe I said that. And then called people that use head mounts goobers.
It sucks when there is not enough for everyone yet it still shows that its available
@knowledge Just look at the mounting evidence.
Got the cam from morningsaver and the accessory kid from here. This should be fun. Still a decent deal for all the stuff.
Bought one to watch fishies in the river.
tired-fashionable-marmot I had to dig deep for this photo:
Has anyone used this as an actual action cam? I want to use it with my 4 wheeler.
Nooooo! Sold out!!!!
Oh. OK I see what you did there. national-ballistic-competition
Yeah, bummer this is sold out. 2nd one of these GoPro knock offs I've missed out on.
The accessory kit seems to have an offset spot for the lens like on a go pro. The camera in this deal has a lens in the center of the body. Stupid question... will the vivitar kit fit this camera?
TIA
@stiege The images that show the gopro (with the offset lens) on the headset and suction cup mount are stock photos from the accessory kit. I'll bet my Fuko that you don't get the gopro, or the cases, just the mounts.
@stiege @mehdaf is correct.. from the link provided... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sunpak-platinumplus-action-camera-accessory-mount-kit-black/4497901.p you are just getting the mounts not the extra cases.
@stiege Thanks for the replies... it's still not that clear from the best buy photo, but I think I get it
This is listed as a "sponsored deal" over on dealnews.com. Wonder why Meh did that, when they were getting "editor's choice" listings pretty much every day (presumably) for free.
This image was taken with this accessory kit. It shows great detail. I thought I'd share.
@gak0090 Ehh, I wish you hadn't. Now I'm both intrigued by the cause and grossed out by the result. Good thing I haven't had lunch yet.
KuoH
@gak0090 WTF is THAT?!!!!
Can I use this as a dashcam on my car? How is the night mode video if there is one?
Is it sold out? The bundle is grey and I can only select the accessory kit (which is black).
@cylon58
Yeah. Camera SO.
Dog cam for hunting season!
@virtualmorris
Tailcam?
@f00l I don't think there's anything at the tail end I'd want video of.
I still can't get my GoPro1 out of it's packaging from 4 years ago, so maybe I'll buy this one.
@Skotyman And use it to take an unboxing video of the GoPro?
KuoH
@kuoh Assuming I could get THIS one out of it's packaging, it looks complicated.
What kind of battery is included (if it is since it's not on the included in the box list) and can replacements be purchased? I'd like to use something like this for a 3-5 hour mountain hike
@Oldguy I posted this above, but this one might work. For $13 shipped it's worth a shot. http://www.amazon.com/Cameron-Sino-Rechargeble-Battery-SD18/dp/B01E0SGX5I/
You r all going to regret this
@msujp I'm sure I won't regret buying one unless it's defective.
I forgot to look at Meh after watching the Capitals-Penguins game last night, and now the cam is sold out. D'oh.
Order still processing...is this a benefit of being a VMP?
@troy969 yes.
It is rather slow this time. They got better for a while.
@StrangerDanger Expected delivery date when it was posted was 5/23-5/25 I believe. I think it is all VERY product dependent.
@StrangerDanger careful. you don't want to be that guy.
@jbartus yea I don't really care that much. It come when it comes. Still beats anything from China.
@StrangerDanger sounds like a sound Meh appropriate philosophy to me!
@StrangerDanger there is definitely something weird happening with this product... the charge on my card is still pending... in the "my orders" page there is no "discuss this purchase" button... only a problem button... it is very odd.
@thismyusername I have the discuss button on mine, status as processing.
I was hoping to get it for my vacation in 2 weeks. I hope it gets here in time.
@Conklaven Mine has shipped now... Everyone should be getting shipping notifications shortly
@Conklaven Mine has shipped also.
FINALLY mine shipped ! Expected delivery 5/26!!
Very slow turnaround this time.
Just checked my order, and Morningsave sent camera three days ago .... ground... and FedEx says it will be here by a week from today "by end of the day?". Sure glad VMP was used. Dickfarmers.
@AmazingChicken VMP has nothing to do with shipping speed. Stuff is cheaper here for a reason.
If you want something quick, buy it at retail price.
Also, what do you have against Richard Farmer?
@AmazingChicken I feel like Dick Farmers would use a faster shipping method. Meh/Mediocre/MorningSave all utilize SmartPost, which is a pretty slow shipping method. This is explained in the meh.com/FAQ - which is worth a read at some point.
The shipping timeframe is also clearly posted for every sale in the specs post (top post of every product thread,) along with many more useful details. The Estimated Delivery Date for this product is:
Must have sowed my seed properly as my crop of dicks is out for delivery today. I guess it feels good to be a successful dick farmer.
@djslack Did you use a tractor?
@sammydog01 I did but it went more like this:
@djslack I'm apparently a better dick farmer than I thought. Received a pair of Square HD cameras, which are (as best I could tell when researching back when this sale was on) the newer model. That takes some of the sting out of missing a fuko.
@djslack I tried researching this when they sold these... I think the conclusion I came to is that the "Look" is just the "Square" with the lcd back-plate included... sound right?
@djslack one of the best dick farmers at meh. Keep up the good work.
@djslack thanks for heightening my anticipation!
I just got mine, and I can't seem to get the suction mount to work with the camera. The center guide is too wide for the slot on the camera attachment. Anyone else?
@mwylile Was hoping I wasn't the only one. I can't seem to get it to go on any of the mounts.
@mwylile I noticed it too with mine (that arrived today) still need to do a test video - the beeping discussed in the next thread is a bit worrisome.
Got mine, but there seems to be a strange beeping sound in all the videos:
@Joffroi mine beeps randomly too. like frantic Morse code.
@NombreDeUsuario I messaged Meh support about it to see if they know something about it. Morse code is exactly what it sounds like.
@NombreDeUsuario @Joffroi I did a quick test on mine and didn't notice any audio issues. Did you have a cell phone near it during the recording?
@Ignorant Nope, is the camera. If you record a noisy scene, it may drown the beeping. But indoors or in a quiet place, it ruins the capture. Funny enough, there is and AUDIO only capture option, I tried it and there were no beeps.
@NombreDeUsuario I'll have to test again later.
@dmpotter44 yeah I just tested again not hooked to my loud drone and I have the beeping. Tested with and without the LED hooked up and both had it.
I also have the beeping in mine, this is sad to me.
@Joffroi No strange noises for me.... I recorded in an empty room with no sounds right next to my cell phone... posting in a second (if I can figure out how to)
As a point of clarification I am using a Samsung Evo+ 32GB microSD... I will check it with the SD that came with the camera.
@jgdovin Use a new memory card... will fix your issues... video as proof below
@Conklaven Confirmed. This seemed to fix the problem. Sucks that it doesn't work with the card it came with though
Received my puzzle today. In process.....
@Stumpy91 Plz, report back if you have the audio problem.
@Stumpy91 Towards the front of the camera in the opposite side to the power switch, there is the VOX switch, turn that to the OFF position.
tried with the vox setting off and no cell phones, still the noise
@Joffroi well, turning VOX to OFF just stopped my camera from recording non-stop. It didn't help the noises.
well, turning VOX to OFF just stopped my camera from recording non-stop. It didn't help the noises.
@NombreDeUsuario There is a BIT RATE setting, either 12M or 6M. Default is 12, so I tried 6. Got the noises in 6M too.
@NombreDeUsuario Is your battery charged fully? I checked mine and no beep.
@densa Mine still has the audio noise after a full charge.
@Stumpy91 @nombreDeUsuario Use a new memory card it will fix the issues See my videos below
@Conklaven I have the beeping issue. Almost sounded like a mechanical issue (I know, impossible)... thanks for finding it. Now off to see if I can find that other micro sd card.
It doesn't look like the firmware can be updated.
The problem that you all are having with the beeping sound is from the memory card that was supplied with the camera. I compared it to an Samsung EVO+ that I have and it only makes the sound when using the transcend Micro SD and not with the samsung. Video shortly
@Conklaven First time uploading video to here... sorry for the issues
1st video is of video taken using my Samsung Evo+ MicroSD card
2nd Video is Video taken using the provided Transcend 4GB MicroSD card
Surprisingly there is also coloring differences
@Conklaven I'll have to look around for an old micro sd card. Thanks.
@Conklaven Found a Maxell 4GB card and am getting the same results as you.
Formatting the provided Transcend card does NOT fix the issue.
Have read the cards using the camera and with a SanDisk adapter both thru my MacBook Pro latest edition.
With the Maxell card the coloring/lighting seems much darker for me but I am not the pro here.
@Conklaven used a different card and all is good, no more beeps.
Thanks.
@Ignorant Glad I could help.
(Tagging @radiojohn)
OK, so @Pavlov is onto something, or on something, or both. I tried a 32GB Samsung Ultra. The morse code noise is (mostly) gone, but there is a continual buzzing noise that is still present. I played back my video made with the Transend card that came with the camera and that buzz was there too. I don't imagine Nabi has compiled a list of compatible memory cards.
@Pavlov Please add a link if you find a decent cheap one because no way am I reading that whole post.
@sammydog01 32GB samsung Evo from walmart for $10
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Samsung-MB-MP32DA-AM-EVO-32GB-microSD-Class-10-Memory-Card/36370844
@Conklaven Thanks- you rock!
@sammydog01 Looks like walmart has raised the price… $11.12 now… Supply and Demand? Samsung also sells it direct for 10.99 http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memory-storage/MB-SP32D/AM
@Conklaven Those bastards!
@Kerig3 that is correct. I actually have 2 32gb Evo laying around I’ll test out a little later and report back.
@slopos I found a good workaround is to completely remove the clip and put the thread mount directly on to the suction cup. Much more robust.
@densa what is the work around?
@thekenya I put up a new thread here
Charging mine right now. I was bummed to see that the the little latch that you push on the TFT was broken out of the box. I hope it won’t matter.
@Blahbbs Nope. Doesn’t seem to matter. TFT comes on just fine without it.
@Blahbbs TFT?
@Stumpy91 the lcd screen backplate. One of mine came with a broken latch too.
@Stumpy91 Probably referring to thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display TFT LCD
@Blahbbs Does it come w the battery in the box?
@Barclaycard Mine did. The battery was in a small plastic bag and in the same compartment as the cables and mounts that come with the camera.
@Barclaycard yes, the battery is in the box not in the camera when delivered and mine was not charged
@Blahbbs I’ve had one for over a year and the latch was broken when I received it but still works fine. I try not to mess with that latch any more than I have to though. I bought three more of these cameras and the latch is ok on them.
Finally got mine today, looked at it quick and put it on the charger. Looks promising for $35!
@Stallion Does it come with battery in the box? Not the accessory kit.
@Barclaycard yes battery and other accessories are in the box with the camera. There is also a separate box of GoPro accessories.
@Ignorant Hey thanks for the quick response, I just saw on amazon page it says comes w a bunch of stuff, such as battery, remote, even SD card… so I’d assume this box comes with just about everything on the Amazon description page? (Excluding accessory kit)
@Barclaycard this photo is pretty accurate:
@djslack Cool thanks, you guys rock!
@Thumperchick @encmerk or maybe you could provide Meh with your correct address.
@encmerk
@cengland0 quality on mine wasn’t bad but it wasn’t in low light.
Just got mine and it’s defective. Tried contacting meh and they have ignored 3 of my emails in 2 days. What gives?
@oanaya312 Paging @hollboll … multiple emails makes it harder for the cs people to get to the answers. It takes a couple of days for them to respond, and weekends don’t count. However, the description says the warranty is through nabi. Hope this helps…
https://www.nabitablet.com/legal/warranty
@oanaya312 agreed, multiple emails do make it harder for us to reply since we have more to sort through. It’s just two of us but we’re working through each ticket as soon as we possibly can. Hang in there and we should get back to you soon, I promise we’re not ignoring you.
Has anyone found a place to download the manual? I don’t have a CD Drive, and I’ve been searching their website but can’t find a place to download it…
@Spork mine had a paper manual in the box… look at the bottom it hides as it’s solid white on the back.
@thismyusername Yep, and the print is tiny. So I’ve been randomly pushing buttons.
@sammydog01 if I remember correctly the top button gets you to your settings, the bottom button to your recorded files, and the rocker in the middle for navigation and “OK/select”.
@Spork I just discovered there is a user manual pdf on the mini disc that came with the camera. It’s a LOT easier on the eyes.
Interestingly the one the reviewer showed is an 8 MP camera. This one from meh is 5 MP. I could not detect any audible noise from her videos, but I couldn’t hear any audio. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mo5jj2Ba0JM
@Stumpy91 I think you might be wrong. The one from Meh is 8 MP but starts out at 5 MP and you need to go to the settings to change it to 8 MP.
@cengland0 HaHaHa Tripple
@Shucka that’s no fun. See if Nabi can help you under warranty.
https://www.nabitablet.com/legal/warranty
@Thumperchick I just called them, the girl I talked was nice. I sent a copy of my receipt and they will give me an address to send the camera to. Once they check it out I’ll get a new one.
I just got mine (from morningsave) and the back panel spring-loaded part shot out as soon as I took it out of the package. Other than that, I can’t wait to record some FPV flights with this little guy.
I got one from Meh and one from Morningsave… turns out the Morningsave version is actually the “Square HD” which I think is a newer model. But they’re basically the same.
Happy with both, just didn’t expect the difference.
@awk I just ordered a second on from Morningsave since this Meh one seems so fun. The Steals on the Real video shows the Look packaging that i received from Meh. Weird.
@sammydog01 there are still selling them on there? i can’t seem to find it.
@Conklaven Yes, still there, but no longer in the crime savers section. They are in the steals section.
@Conklaven https://morningsave.com/deals/nabi-hd-action-camera
@djslack @awk thanks for reminding me morningsave has these… Not sure if kid ruined his on first trip out. He was trying to be conscientious and tied a string to his camera. He indeed kept it from going over the side of the boat, but he made the seal less than watertight. Sigh… So ordering a backup for summercamp!
@awk Digital zoom only works when recording is set to 720i.
@djslack These cameras have internal memory?
@Stumpy91 Mine do. If i have a memory card in it and plug it in, two drives show up. If I have no memory card in it I can still record video.
I haven’t investigated how much memory though.
Is there an easy fix I may have missed?
FYI, I did reformat the card.
How do you mount it on the head mount strap??
@deemkooo It’s been awhile since I did it, but you use the standard accessory listed as “bracket” in the manual. It’s the flat platform that mates to the headstrap bracket and the camera sits on it and a screw threads into the bottom of the camera. I’d take a photo and post it if it wasn’t such a pain in the ass to post photos on this forum.
@Stumpy91 you can upload photos directly to the forum.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/image-uploading
@deemkooo I do what @Stumpy91 does… connect camera to the tray, connect tray to the headmount.
I haven’t figured out a good way to mount it to the headmount in the waterproof case yet however…
@deemkooo If you want to mount the waterproof case to the headmount you can remove the threaded mount from the top of the sticky mount. All of the stuff is made to be interchangeable. Or else take the top off the suction cup mount from the GoPro kit.
@thismyusername thank you
@Stumpy91 wow! thanks so much! i should’ve played with erector sets or something when i was a kid.
@Stumpy91 a replacement USB cable?
@Ignorant A replacement mini-USB charging cable. (with built in wall-wart)
I was taking the back screen off and the little hook on the push button broke off. Suggestions? Contact Meh or the camera manufacturer?
Or am I SOOL?
@deemkooo Common issue with these. One of mine came that way.
Contact the manufacturer. And thank you for reminding me to do that for mine.
@djslack contacted manufacturer and they said to contact meh (sigh). They don’t have any in stock anyway/won’t repair. I explained they were a one item a day site, but that didn’t matter.
@deemkooo was afraid of that!
/giphy ugh
Does anyone else have issues with the buttons on the waterproof case leaking moisture?
I’ve been using this in backyard swimming pools, and there’s always a little bit of moisture that comes through the little springs under the buttons. It’s not much, but it’s enough to get into the battery compartment in less than an hour!
Anyone still having sound issues even when using the fastest/highest-quality memory card available? The mic barely picks up any sound!
/giphy grisly-grueling-feeling
Hey guys I did not get this delivered
@rockitman Contact support at halp@meh.com or through the menus at the top of the site.
@rockitman meh.com/support will help you out, be warned they dont work weekends and they are only 2 people so it might take a few business days for them to get back to you
My fault I found it. No worries Thanks
