@hchavers Not my trees - but you are right. There’d be no ribbon, no wrapping paper and no ornaments left on either tree as they’d shred the trunk of the first one and climb it. I think it was maybe 2 years ago somewhere or other there was a thread of cats in trees. Some were pretty funny.
@hchavers@Kidsandliz I took the new found cat to Christmas one year. He sat in my lap the whole 2.5 hour drive. He was young and super friendly… One of my sisters is… Not very nice. And the other was like “you’re taking that home with you right?” Duh. Your kids can’t have my kitty.
Tried that the next year. He spent all his time under the couch or sneaking under the couch to climb the tree. They are just too tempting and don’t have a heavy enough base.
@hchavers@unksol That is for sure. Cats view them as their own personal, exciting new toy. It is a good thing I don’t have room for a christmas tree as backyard birdfeeder dinner bait kitty (Tigger) would be in 7th heaven and that thing would be shredded and destroyed in no time flat. I’d imagine it might make America’s funniest home videos if I mixed him with a christmas tree.

Cats can be like toddlers and teenagers. If you are lucky they behave in front of your face. Heaven help you if your back is turned. Say no to Tigger and he stops. For about 3 seconds. Rinse and repeat. He appears to be eternally hopefully that next time I won’t say no.
I have several small to medium sized trees, one with traditional ornaments, most of which were my grandma’s, one that we put pop culture and silly stuff, one that I do 100% Doctor Who, one that is all cutesy with Hello Kitty lights, and… well, a few others. Ahem. I like Christmas a little bit.
This is my tree from last year. I’ll probably do something similar this year. I have since increased my fake donut and balloon dog ornament collection.
@RiotDemon I got a bunch of blue balloon dog ornaments at Five Below. I got the blown glass ones on the wall in the pic at Target, but the ones they had this year didn’t even look like dogs. Or balloons.
@heartny I was at a local art store and snapped a shit pic of this giant supreme balloon dog. They had some other ones that I forgot to take a picture of that were not supreme but still cost a few hundred.
@lisaviolet I likely could do it, the issue is mine alone. I am a perfectionist and find craft/artistic endeavors to be particularly stressful. Everything has to be perfect or I cannot move on to the next step.
Many years ago I attempted to scrapbook. I think I finished two or three pages (over a month or two) and gave up. The pages could always be better, there was always something else I could do to improve upon the current version. Now, if I put together a photo album, it is black pages with the corner triangles. That is it, no muss no fuss and TM remains as sane as is possible. Lol
Action?

@Kidsandliz Is something wrong with your cats? I see paper still around presents.

@RiotDemon Too funny! Loved the tree in the cage.
I, too, enjoy a cat-decorated tree!
A beautiful Stanley Cup referencing ornament in a place of honor…front and center

@Pony post some pics after you decorate them this year
My wife has decorated our ornaments with a tree at least I think there is a tree amongst all the ornaments. Not just one tree either but two trees
@bleedmichigan I remember that excitement, a long time ago.
a lot of random nonsense, with a few actual ornaments (when we have the room to actually put up a tree)
This is my tree from last year. I’ll probably do something similar this year. I have since increased my fake donut and balloon dog ornament collection.
@heartny did you go to cracker barrel? I got a purple balloon unicorn this year!
@Barney loves purple.
@RiotDemon I got a bunch of blue balloon dog ornaments at Five Below. I got the blown glass ones on the wall in the pic at Target, but the ones they had this year didn’t even look like dogs. Or balloons.
@heartny I didn’t think to check five below for Christmas stuff.
The ones at cracker barrel were really nice. I can’t remember if they had the dogs from last year.
I’ll try to remember to get a pic of mine.
@heartny I was at a local art store and snapped a shit pic of this giant supreme balloon dog. They had some other ones that I forgot to take a picture of that were not supreme but still cost a few hundred.
I have one of those little Charlie Brown trees. That’s my tree.
@remo28 we have one also - they’re great. I figure it can just barely hold the two meh ornaments from today.
@remo28 @stolicat

@narfcake @remo28 I think ours is even scragglier - the base plays the Peanuts theme in an annoyingly lo-fi manner.
@narfcake @remo28 @stolicat I have the one that plays the Peanuts theme at low volume too. I don’t dare have a real tree because cats.
So last year I went to toss one of those mesh Christmas lights over the bush in the front if the house and call it a day.
I see my neighbor unpacking stuff, so I figure he’s doing the same.
Went out to dinner, and I admire my handiwork in getting the damned thing covering the bush pulling into the driveway.
Then across the street, there arose such a clatter, that I turned my head to see what was the matter.
And I see this …
@mike808 with the music, too? I would go mad if that were outside my window every night …
@mike808 @stolicat
/giphy George Takei Oh My
And you set up a tripod and mic to record this for 15 minutes? And no one called the police?
@mike808 I saw their 2019 Halloween display. Pretty cool stuff. I love projection mapping.
At least one ornament from every year I was alive and one ornament for every year each of my children were alive… Ahhhhh meh-mories!
Check back in two weeks.
I might print one. I put a Super Mario star on top last time.
Here is mine.
It is slowly being overtaken by the kids handmade ornaments. Love it!
I made mine. It’s paper. No room to hang ornaments.
I made one for my vet’s office, too.

@cf1 @f00l @mike808 @PocketBrain @RiotDemon @stolicat you are assuming I have artistic ability!?!?!? I simply appreciates others works of art.
@lisaviolet Nice.
@Kidsandliz Thank you.
@tinamarie1974
If I can do it, you can do it. There’s even a video tutorial (Mary has really good tutorials.)
I switched out the star from the kit to one I found in the silhouette design store for the one I made for the vet’s office. I prefer the puffy star.

Those are so cute!
…lights and jewelry.
