Um…perhaps you have not realized who your clientele is Meh. The 220lb weight limit is very limiting. This could be fun but alas I will never know the enjoyment of 8” all terrain wheels because my size exceeds the proscribed limit as I would guess it does for many of your customers.
@stuartpb I’m just guessing here, but it probably has pressure sensors at the front and rear of each foot pad that can detect how hard you are pressing on your toes or heel. So you would control it basically the same way as the split-board designs, leaning your feet forward and back, but your feet would just stay stationary.
God dammit, meh. I have two of the 99 dollar ones, which thing 1 and 2 love. They would go ape-shit over these. But, my oldest was mad she didn’t get one, so if I get one, I’d have to buy 3 or there would be blood. Bastards.
I sold the 99 dollar ones at work and bought 3 of these. These look more stable with the larger wheels and the app to tweak the driving. It was nice to start with the $99 ones though. I guess I got lucky and got 2 that worked. Kids are stoked. It may as well be Christmas all over again.
So… in about 2000 I learned that you could rent the hot new Prius hybrid from Toyota dealers. I called up and asked “Do you have the PRYus available to rent?” After a few confused moments, the clerk asked “uh do you mean a PREEus?” I laughed and said, “Sounds like penis? That can’t be the right way to say it.” Sadly in the end I was wrong and that was the way it’s said.
Had to register for the warranty, send the DOA one back via fed ex (their dime), 2 days after they got it and determined that we didn’t do anything to cause it, they shipped out a new one. Now, the one they sent was black, not blue, so the 2 kids w/ black hover boards will have trouble knowing whose is whose, but all in all, it could have been worse.
@winkywooster I had some trouble getting it to connect to Android, turned phone off, got ready to start app, started board, started app, worked randomly. Mine keeps flashing red and shaking the house when I ride.
Sorry some folks got them without chargers and a DOA unit or two, but mine is AWESOME! I’m actually blown away at the quality compared to other Hoverboards you get in the same $200’ish price range. So far, it’s easy as hell to ride, the iOS app does a respectable job at allowing you to customize the board, and it hasn’t caught fire or knocked my teeth out… YAY!!!
