I still deeply regret not digging through my garbage to donate the skunk corpse I found in my yard. I just couldn't do it. Eugch. Not into the animal skull thing either, but weirdly enough I do find the videos very interesting.
I hope it a human skull. That would be so cool if it was a human skull. Definitely not for everyone, probably not for most one. Please Santa, human skull! (a donor of course)
I hate TPHC and whatever the hell the games of chance thing is called (you look it up; I'm too damned mediocre and lazy), and can't help thinking that @matthew's pronunciation of "meh"--as if he's throwing up--is directly related to their nauseous lack of value. That being said, I find most of the other videos--including the ombudsman series--generally delightful and frequently brilliant. And I love the message here.
This somehow reminds me of what I love about NPR. I remember during past pledges that they emphasized just this value: it's not for everyone, but it is for some, and you're not gonna find it anywhere else. That gets me. And I think you get me, meh.
Thanks for being that obscene affront to normal society and commerce. You're fucking offensive and I like that about you.
@joelmw I think he was really enunciating meh because we made fun of him a while ago for saying it really quickly and with no inflection in another video he made. It's almost like an FU to the community. And I like that :)
I like the PHC, even though I have no desire to play with dead things (unless I'm cooking them for dinner). But if someone gave me a cleaned up skull to display, I would put it on my mantle. My guess for what's in the bag, squirrel! Those things are everywhere, and pretty stupid. So I'm sure finding a dead squirrel would be pretty easy.
Just wondering...wtf do you do with a cleaned, bleached possum (or gopher or whatever) skull? Does he put them on display or something? Is that covered in the videos? I've been hesitant to actually watch them.
I'm going to guess it's resin for round 3! But my "gross" answer is... armadillo, maybe the TX staffers sent him one!
On a side note, the fact that you can take a minute to react and address something still going on in the forums is really a fantastic part of this little mehventure. It's like all of us are bumbling down this Wonka boat ride together, not quite remembering how we got here, but not sure if we want to jump off just yet.
What was on the laptop screen? You kept glancing at it like you had incoming email that you really wanted to read. I hate in person meetings for that very reason. I can't keep eye contact with you and answer emails simultaneously!!
Right now I record everything in Pro Tools, but I'd like to find something lighterweight to use for just plain old voice recording like this, and reserve PT for recording music and other projects for which the audio component is more involved.
@curtise@matthew GarageBand is ok, but there a lot of UI clutter to wade through for a simple recording. Audacity has the painful UI only a FSF member could love. You could use that or QuckTime Player to record and Fission to do editing. It would be nice if Fission had the ability to record.
Okay, I snorfled a little bit when @matthew said how thoughtful some of the community responses were in the discussion about the site. I don't know if he meant it tongue in cheek but that's how I took it and thought it was funny.
My daughter loves these! If it is an armadillo skull, keep an eye on your health, as apparently they carry leprosy of all things. I'd also guess armadillo, as its head would fit in that bag and it would be a bit different from the others in terms of tissue.
@SSteve I that maybe @unixrab but he's more like a sheep than a reptile and he's too big to fit into that small bag. Besides, I think he has a soft head so probably no skull to clean.
TPHC is my favorite Meh video series! I look forward to the next installment, whenever it comes. Dr. Frank-N-Furter antici-pation us all you want. I'm guessing a whole frog? It would be neat to see all the tiny bones reconstructed. Kinda like when they uncover a complete dinosaur in situ, but really, really, really tiny.
good call on the black and white format ..it added literally* nothing to the video... that's meh in my book. Sepia would have been even meh'er.. but who's watching.
It's meh-er than you think! Because it DOES add something: It helps cover up the color interference I got from stupidly wearing a green hat in front of the chromakey.
@matthew I've been wondering about that hat. It looks like a Vanderbilt 'V', but I'm just not sure. I'm about 10 minutes from Villanova so they're always first on my mind but it's obviously not them.
I still really like the backing track on this video. @Matthew still has not posted it to the Soundcloud account, but he HAS posted something called "Space Pilgrims Theme" two hours ago which I am greatly looking forward to.
I was that way at first, too. I've gotten over my squeamishness over TPHC. Meh still makes me queasy sometimes, though. Especially on speaker dock days.
I love TPHC, and I'm looking forward to the next installment. At this point, I don't even care about what's in the bag, and if the next installment is simply a resin project sans bones, then hey - I'll watch. I actually enjoyed the resin disaster of this last series (and not even in a schadenfreude-y kind of way). So it didn't turn out, but you know what - a lot of my "projects" don't either. I learned something, so it's time well spent.
Recently heard it was a thing a few years back to make a sleigh out of the Thanksgiving turkey bones. But I'm sure that's too bourgeois for this esteemed series.
Where oh where have The 'Possum Head Chronicles gone? I have been waiting for ages to see what's in the bag. The answer was nothing wasn't it. There was nothing in the bag.
@darksaber99999 Thanks. I forgot about that video, though how I forgot about that bug that crawls around after Matthew opens the bag I'll never know. I'm still sad we haven't had any new Possum Head Chronicles.
Hello, TPHC is one of my favourites!!!
I hope there's a chipmunk in the bag...
Also, well put about the content of the site! I love it here :)
Have i been mispronouncing 'meh' my entire life?
@Peanut_Buddha Yes. It's @cengland0's fault.
@Peanut_Buddha probably not. I thought he said it very weird. I just say it like eh, but with an m at the beginning.
As in "may"?
I'm guessing skunk
I still deeply regret not digging through my garbage to donate the skunk corpse I found in my yard. I just couldn't do it. Eugch. Not into the animal skull thing either, but weirdly enough I do find the videos very interesting.
Is it a dove?
I don't know what to expect.
Love the series by the way.
@palladium Oooo - good idea! A bird!
@palladium that would be a huge mistake...
I'll guess raccoon.
Mehnatee ?
Mehndrill ?
Mehnta Ray ?
Mehrkat ?
Mehllipedes ?
@mehdiocre_user Perhaps a Mehcaw? Armehdilllo? Dobermehn? Wooly Mammehth?
I hope it a human skull. That would be so cool if it was a human skull. Definitely not for everyone, probably not for most one. Please Santa, human skull! (a donor of course)
@miko1 The bag is too small for that. Trust me?
A McRib sandwich?
@Headly That would be the grossest series yet.
A turkey carcass, of course! This time, @matthew will make soup.
I hate TPHC and whatever the hell the games of chance thing is called (you look it up; I'm too damned mediocre and lazy), and can't help thinking that @matthew's pronunciation of "meh"--as if he's throwing up--is directly related to their nauseous lack of value. Those Games of Chance really were stupid
@matthew but they also took all of 10 minutes to produce, leaving you with more time to make better videos...
@matthew And they were totally not rigged.
@joelmw I think he was really enunciating meh because we made fun of him a while ago for saying it really quickly and with no inflection in another video he made. It's almost like an FU to the community. And I like that :)
@jsh139 it kinda sounded like the sound @cengland0 makes in the wild.
@jsh139 You're one of my favorite meh-hicans. You seem to get me too.
@joelmw aw shucks. Thanks :)
I think what's in the bag is nothing organic. Maybe something mechanical or electronic or just inert.
God, please. You critter head people are sick.
I'm gonna guess an old Walkman that you're gonna take apart.
@joelmw Those videos may not be for you then.
Yes! I'm part of a following!!
I like the PHC, even though I have no desire to play with dead things (unless I'm cooking them for dinner). But if someone gave me a cleaned up skull to display, I would put it on my mantle.

@Groovymarlin Yes. I'll spare you having to watch the videos to just show the final resting place:
Squirrel seems too small to me. I'm hoping for raccoon or something exotic like alligator.
It's obviously an octopus. This video series is going to be really short, and an obvious disappointment somewhere around the ammonia stage.
On serious note, armadillos are really common in the DFW area. I'm going with that.
Rat skeleton?
@jocmckin They have Rat Mutledge in the bag.
I'm going to guess it's resin for round 3! But my "gross" answer is... armadillo, maybe the TX staffers sent him one!

I would have thought it was obvious: my script notes
(Also controls for recording the audio)
@matthew Notes? And here I thought you had a teleprompter or at least an earpiece thingy. Next comes the tinted paper like local news anchors.
@matthew What software do you use?
Right now I record everything in Pro Tools, but I'd like to find something lighterweight to use for just plain old voice recording like this, and reserve PT for recording music and other projects for which the audio component is more involved.
@matthew Kinda like Garage Band?
@curtise @matthew GarageBand is ok, but there a lot of UI clutter to wade through for a simple recording. Audacity has the painful UI only a FSF member could love. You could use that or QuckTime Player to record and Fission to do editing. It would be nice if Fission had the ability to record.

@Bingo Some of the responses were very thoughtful and attempted to help OP find a solution.
My daughter loves these! If it is an armadillo skull, keep an eye on your health, as apparently they carry leprosy of all things. I'd also guess armadillo, as its head would fit in that bag and it would be a bit different from the others in terms of tissue.
My guess is that it's a turtle.
@cengland0 Do you think it could be @TaRDy? I hope not. That would be sad.
@SSteve I that maybe @unixrab but he's more like a sheep than a reptile and he's too big to fit into that small bag. Besides, I think he has a soft head so probably no skull to clean.
@SSteve @cengland0 looks around at situation...slowly backs away
@ssteve @tardy It's rare, but @cengland0 is surprisingly accurate! (except for the head and skull part) must be one of his "lucid" days.
@unixrab I really want to see you as December's goat, if only to watch this thing with you and @cengland0 carry on for another month.
@Thumperchick It has always been great poking fun at @unixrab because he's so gullible that he will fall for anything.
@Thumperchick and here everyone has said you're this whole "nice" person... and this? this is what you respond?
more braying and bah'ing from El Chivo @cengland0
@unixrab It is an important distinction that I have not claimed to be a nice person.
Whatever we think is in the bag, is far better than what is actually in the bag.
@Kevin yeah, it's probably just some poor soul's lost lunch. Pimento cheese and bologna sandwich and some pretzel sticks.
This Shamrock Shake? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamrock_Shake
TPHC is my favorite Meh video series! I look forward to the next installment, whenever it comes. Dr. Frank-N-Furter antici-pation us all you want. I'm guessing a whole frog? @Pinky
@unixrab SAY IT!!!
@SSteve ska-rolll down
good call on the black and white format ..it added literally* nothing to the video... that's meh in my book. Sepia would have been even meh'er.. but who's watching.
*yes literally
It's meh-er than you think! Because it DOES add something: It helps cover up the color interference I got from stupidly wearing a green hat in front of the chromakey.
@matthew I've been wondering about that hat. It looks like a Vanderbilt 'V', but I'm just not sure. I'm about 10 minutes from Villanova so they're always first on my mind but it's obviously not them.
http://www.uvm.edu/
@matthew Ahh, that was my other guess. Alma mater? As a skier I would've loved to go there.
@matthew "add" != "negate" rephrase
@Cinoclav I was gonna guess 'nova, too. But I couldn't remember what their 'V' looked like.
@jsh139 I knew it had the little tails on the bottom of the V. Vandy and Vermont were the only other schools that I could think of.
@pinky
Goat head ftw!
@matthew should host a field trip and invite people to partake in the discustingness of whatever is in the bag!
It's Irk's skull.
I still really like the backing track on this video. @Matthew still has not posted it to the Soundcloud account, but he HAS posted something called "Space Pilgrims Theme" two hours ago which I am greatly looking forward to.
@Collin1000 No need to look forward to anything except to when @Matthew decides to take the show to Broadway.
@curtise Oh, yeah, I remember that one now. I had wiped it from my memory it was so painful to watch. Poor Matthew.
I'm just passionate about sharing my love of dance, OK
@matthew Like I said in the Space Pilgrims thread, that was some great choreography.
Hamburger. A possum meat hamburger.
No, I would not like to try it, thank you.
Flying Monkey?
TPHC are the only videos I don't watch. I'm too squeamish. But I love that they exist. Just like I love that meat farmers and butchers exist.
I was that way at first, too. I've gotten over my squeamishness over TPHC. Meh still makes me queasy sometimes, though. Especially on speaker dock days.
TPHC series is the bestest. I catch myself whistling the theme all the time.
I love TPHC, and I'm looking forward to the next installment. At this point, I don't even care about what's in the bag, and if the next installment is simply a resin project sans bones, then hey - I'll watch. An octopus skull?
A pony!
@lisaviolet There's something wrong with you. I'm glad you're goat.
@joelmw Well, it's not like it's a very big pony, I mean, look at the size of that bag.
@lisaviolet a puree'd pony? Will it blend?
Where oh where have The 'Possum Head Chronicles gone? I have been waiting for ages to see what's in the bag. The answer was nothing wasn't it. There was nothing in the bag.
@LadyLeela You needed only wait a week! Or whatever time frame it was: (Yeah, it was a week)
@darksaber99999 Thanks. I forgot about that video, though how I forgot about that bug that crawls around after Matthew opens the bag I'll never know. I'm still sad we haven't had any new Possum Head Chronicles.
