@shawn I was just thinking I wanted to see the stats on the circuit breakers but didn’t feel like making a thread about it.
Seems terse. Why not just use 24hr and drop the EST? Love the bars better (I assume hour chunks) but no cute little icons. The ‘paused’ lines seem redundant too
@f00l DST was fine for it’s time, but is LONG past its usefulness. unless you consider fucking with people’s brains twice a year useful. but that’s what april fool’s day and arbor day are for.

@DVDBZN Having grown up in Northern Michigan (Traverse City) I experienced that. Where I am now in Florida it’s not so much of an issue. The only downside to a 10pm sunset was going to the drive-in theatres and the 4th of July Fireworks because they started so late. Spending an evening golfing was sweet!
@Mehrocco_Mole regarding DST all I have to say on the matter is that we take artificial lighting for granted. When it was implemented it was important for a lot of industries. Is it a relic of the past now? Maybe, although as I recall the NHSTA feels it still has value for driver safety during rush hour. That said, I love to hate it just as much as everybody else when I lose an hour!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Mehrocco_Mole
In Alaska, in mid-summer, they play Midnight Baseball. Games start at 10pm, play out in full. Outdoors. No artificial turf, no artificial lights.
@jbartus My son and I had a very detailed conversation about the creation of artificial light and the impact it had on peoples’ lives. (I feel bad for the kid sometimes.) It all started because I say “close the light”.
P.S. I want more sunlight in the morning – whatever time it is called, I like waking up to sunlight!!
@f00l I lived in the southern part of Norway. During the summer, the sun doesn’t fully set. Around 3-4 am, it dips low to the horizon, and then it comes back up.
We used curtains to deal with it.
It was kinda neat visiting again as an adult. We were at a bar playing darts, and because of the odd sun, it was 1am, but it only felt like 10pm.
The winter was the opposite though… Very little sun.
DST is silly to me. I wish they would vote to keep it at whatever time, all year long.
@DrunkCat I’ve actually read arguments that the NHTSA is in favor of DST because while the changeover period is particularly bad it actually eliminates worse long term trends in large part by shifting rush hour into either full light (AM) or full dark (PM) rather than the more dangerous transitional period at night overlapping rush hour during the winter. It’s not perfect obviously as some latitudes will have earlier or later transitional period, but the consensus seemed to be that the positives outweighed the negatives.
@jbartus
I’m sure there is data to support ending DST, or to support leaving the current setup alone. And I’m sure $ figures in either way.
My personal “data”: I passionately, utterly despise and hate the changeovers. I would prefer DST year-round, but could live with ST year-round. I don’t wanna get all worked up, so am understanding my feelings considerably.
@jbartus That would literally be the first time I’ve seen a positive on DST so link away. The consensus on DST is pretty much the same as climate change. Shits whack yo.
Working on a fix. It’ll be up in a few minutes.
@shawn
@shawn
We broke the interwebs.
I’m down w meh being up.
They must be making the meh.deals page live today.
Had a small logic bug with new stats block we’re trying out.

Don’t you love unsolicited opinions?
@shawn
I want everything GMT or UTC.
Will confuse everyone moar (self included). That would be a good thing.
@f00l i’m down with doing everything in UTC… as long as we get rid of this damned daylight savings crap.
@carl669
I can almost hate Ben Franklin for DST, but it was an agricultural era, and BF is great fun, so i have to love him.
Am willing to exterminate all his DST offspring tho.

DST is worthless and always has been. Anyone who defends it might as well store their meat in the salt bin.
At any rate, I figured to drop the EST because it’s the “defacto” timezone of the US and of Meh (since the new deal starts at midnight EST).
I’m honestly surprised I didn’t catch flak for the 24H suggestion (so that it can be 00:00-08:00 instead of midnight-08:00 which looks fugly as hell).
@carl669 Don’t forget Summer Time and Winter Time.
@OldCatLady
Yes! The Daily Deal could start tonite at Midnight, Summer Time!
Instead of only fucking with the Atlantic Coasters, instead, fuck with The Entire Known Universe!
@OldCatLady
@shawn
Here is the time zone we should be in. And here is the time when new deals should start.
@shawn

@Mehrocco_Mole
Ok, but without DST the sun would set at 10 PM in the summer.

I wanna just leave it on DST year round. It’s cool if AZ stays in Standard Time instead. Somebody got to be different.

@DVDBZN Does the sun set at 11pm for you now?
Here, it gets dark at 9pm in the summer. Without DST, that’d be 8pm.
@Mehrocco_Mole

@DVDBZN That’s a stupid argument. The tilt of the earth causes that so if it’s that bothersome then the solution is to move to lower latitudes.
@jbartus My son and I had a very detailed conversation about the creation of artificial light and the impact it had on peoples’ lives. (I feel bad for the kid sometimes.) It all started because I say “close the light”.

@DrunkCat
Or to “untilt” the earth. Seriously though, who moves because of what time the sun sets?
@DVDBZN I did. That and seasons.
I think it’s sillier to create essentially a national holiday of vehicular accidents.

Are you down with meh.com? That’s the question.
/giphy ya dig?
and down.com is meh. so, the universe is in balance.
I think it’s about time to really stress test this circuit breaker feature
@Ignorant
Wanted:. Video of someone at Meh World HQ tripping. A circuit breaker. Or not a circuit breaker. Or LSD.
All good.
very slow for me here. funny, this is the only thread that would load after the forum page came up.
