the TL;DR - you sign up, you ship some stuff to somebody, and somebody else ships some stuff to you.

There is no problem with the “purchased on meh rule” that I see…
Using ancient, venerated, Greek logic still taught today in schools (therefore it must be true - right? LOL):
Fact one: Synonyms are words (or phrases) that are interchangeable. (see dictionary). Therefor a synonym for “items purchased on meh” are items that would be interchangeable with the kinds of items purchased on meh.
Fact two: Rules did not say verifiably purchased at meh (see rules)
Logical conclusion: Thus anything that could have been purchased on meh, but wasn’t, would count. (True because of #1 & #2 above)
Examples of “could have been” items:
(a) new, cheap 3 star or lower (or no star) shit,
(b) used, sometimes better (and sometimes not better) shit,
(c ) new corded speakers, bluetooth speakers, ear buds, head phones, etc. of questionable quality
(d) all nature of current and obsolete speaker docs
(e) and etc. etc. etc. (for ideas see “past deals” tab at the top of this thread)
(f) discontinued items, sometimes discontinued years ago
(g) And since “purchased on meh” includes fuko items, a wondrous universe opens up of acceptable “could have been” items. I have, for example, seen the fuku foam dart guns along with other “synonym” items, at the Dollar Tree.

Re Rules and logic
I was considering sending Texas Air purchased from Leh as my "purchased from Meh item. (Triple-duty item, is it might either be new or used, and has meaning to me, but likely none to the recipient.)
But now you seem to be positing the acceptability of a slight “as-if” conditionality to the “purchased from Meh” rule; to wit: if an item could have been purchased on Meh; or if an item is equivalent in perceived value or perceived lack-of-value to an item ourchased on Meh, then that item might well fulfill the “purchased from Meh” condition.
Sew: we all know that genuine Texas Air is qualitatively better than any other air. However, I have a private stash of “Texas Air” that is available to me, and to other beings who have migrated to this best possible place to be breathing the local resource. Therefore: instead of shipping Texas Air ordered and received from Meh, I can ship excellent, best quality Texas Air out of my private stash, and still be well within the rules, as long as I can warranty that the Texas Air I send out will be uncontaminated by inferior air while unopened.

@mehbee You can stalk them on meh - do a search on their user name. I found out all sorts of things about my person the last exchange and actually bought something to put in the box based on that. Another exchange I found my person’s linked in page and saw interests from their groups and chose accordingly. I also bought something someone said they wanted meh to make and sell and did the sharpie meh customization. Of course there was also the usual requisite odd, likely only useful to a hoarder items in there too…

I understand that the whole point of this deal is to send each other crap but may I offer suggestions for crap you send me? I really don’t need anything for myself but I have three (3) Grand-daughters ranging in ages from one (1) to thirteen (13) so girly-type stuff would be fine, preferable even!
The thirteen-year-old reads good books and sulks mostly. The eight-year-old is an animal whisperer and adopts random strays of all kinds. The one-year-old usually just drools and poos and looks adorable.
My daughter and her husband are straight-up tie-dye wearing hippies camping in their conversion van on the weekends. My son-in-law does work for the military, so it really isn’t always about Bob Marley if you catch my drift.
I like old dollar-store noir movies and planning my world dominance through real estate. If I may be so bold, I did just buy three (3) of those fancy-pants Mr. Coffee makers so coffee-related tchotchkes might be an appropriate item to consider for me.

@Yoda_Daenerys A few years back i ran a few exchanges with the pair-up system. Some people enjoyed it, others not so much. It was abandoned for the total random model due to a few rotten eggs. People (rightfully so) got pretty upset when they would send a great box and get garbage or nothing at all in return. Yes theres still the risk of bad eggs but people tend to be a bit more contented when theres a bit of a disconnect.

After debating the ethics of that for a long time I finally decided I’d do it if and only if you really do have extra boxes - after you send any to people where their person didn’t send one, if not no biggie and just email me that I am out of luck. No problem. Hopefully everyone gets nice things. I know how disappointed I was one time when someone sent me literal trash and the entire box ended up tossed. Literally nothing was even taken when I left it on the curb (although it was looked at multiple times). So make those people’s boxes good before me too. @RiotDemon we didn’t pay for water coverage because we’ve not had a water issue in 30+ years of ownership there other than an issue the condo association was responsible for. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to collect from upstairs’ insurer and the association but if it’s gonna happen it’s gonna be quite a bit to get made whole.

I may be a tad late shipping, but I’ll probably be on time. All of this mess with Matthew has my mind mudfled. We lost all of our food in the chest freezer and regular refrigerator/freezer for the second time in a month, which sucks due to a fixed income, but yeah, we had it easy compared to so many, so I can’t complain.
@juststephen sorry to hear that.
How long were you without power? My chest freezer stays frozen for a few days if I don’t open it. Maybe your seal is faulty if it thawed quicker?
@RiotDemon It was out from the night before the worst of the hurricane to the evening after we got back. I think that’s Friday night to Monday night, but I don’t remember what day was what.
@RiotDemon It’s possible, it’s an old freezer, but it does freeze stuff rock hard.
@juststephen mine stays mostly frozen for almost three days, but it should stay cold for at least 4. Maybe that’s pushing it, I don’t know.
