Mediocre cause/contest ideas (unofficial) for Onkyo TX-SR333...
4I could use some ideas for good causes and/or contests to donate an a/v receiver to. I have an Onkyo TX-SR333 that is under a year old, and won't be needing it once the TX-NR535 I won arrives. Rather than sell my old system, I'd like to pay it forward by donating the SR333 to a cause or contest. I have some ideas of my own already, but would love input and ideas from the Mediocre community as well. The 5.1 SR333 functions perfectly, but the NR535 will be an upgrade.
Were I to sell it, funds would go toward paying off recent vet bills incurred by my service dog, but the value would barely put a dent in the debt, making such an endeavor hardly worthwhile. So, I think I'd much rather enjoy making a contest out of it instead, or a good charitable donation.

Depends on where you are, I guess, but schools and shelters always need tech equipment
The reviews on this receiver are very good. I would have a contest or maybe a raffle if that is any way possible. As someone who has served in the military I am with you - doubly when you mentioned a service dog. Thank you for your service.
@mfladd I'm for a contest, but will end up simply donating if I (or anyone else here) don't come up with any clever ideas for it. I'd like people to have fun with the whole thing, whether they end up winning or losing.
@annab I work in a high school, but it's actually pretty well equipped with the tech stuff, being an online high school, even if it is part of the public school system. A shelter is an idea, though. I'd donate it to the nonprofit involved with Galen's service dog training, Guild Assistance Dog Partners (GAP Service Dogs), except their needs are typically limited to dog supplies and funding.
Sell it and donate the funds to somewhere you think could use it
i'll give you $20. American. (it's worth a shot...)
Many public libraries can't afford equipment like this but still host events for kids and teens where it could be useful. Churches too.
Just do what Meh did, and hold a contest wherein we guess how many TX-SR333s you sell in the span of a day. Winner gets the one TX-SR333 that you set aside as a prize. Here, I'll even start us out by guessing zero!
Ahem, yeah, I'd look into libraries. Or other, less (seemingly) awesome schools than yours in your area.
Maybe offer it to a Veterans Hospital in your area. It seems like that may be an upgrade to whatever music system they're using now.
I would also consider a nursing home. They are woefully under-funded and in need of things, especially something like this.
I feel like this is obvious and superficial, but maybe the org that provided you your service dog? Very cool of you to do this.
@editorkid I would, except their needs are generally for dog things (I've been donating dog things to them as Galen outgrows them... at 7 months old he's already larger than any adult dog in the class) and funding, not a/v equipment.
