@phendrick “But what do you call it when it’s mashed potato filled with pastry dough?” … if you could make a Beef Wellington with mashed potatoes instead of beef, maybe it would be called a Welled Mash-ington?
@PlacidPenguin I cannot even tell you how delicious “pastry dough filled with mashed potato” sounds. Especially after I just went on a run… I’m officially drooling.
@awk I know I’m late to the discussion but I give that landing a score of ten out of ten. They pat each other on the ass so why not continue to get personal right on the field. Ripped off face mask is clearly an open invitation.
@Pantheist I have knives similar to this, and you are correct. Also, if a sponge is used to clean, moving from metal to holes to metal tends to shred the sponge.
@Pantheist i like it best for in between cheeses like cheddar or jack that you’d slice to put on a burger or on a snack tray but i’ve used it for brie, cambazola, goat, etc too.
@MrMikenIkes This is the second set I’ve bought. Had the last ones for about 7 months and they were still in great shape but my ex took them when she moved out.
Between the knife and hand tool sales, I think @meh is secretly building an army and outfitting them with hand weapons. I’m not sure how the bluetooth speakers fit in but @meh is smarter than me so who am I to wonder.
@JanaS its good. Plus it’s my saved card. So I’ve used it before without issue. Tried my debit card too and it’s the same error. Tried both red and white item and same error. Tried mobile and desktop and same error. Hmmmm…
@cmchance Than it sounds like the service provider is having issues. The hubby retired from banking and he says that if it isn’t a mis-entered VCC or exp. date it’s more than likely the service who processes the card. It’s rarely the merchant (in the case, Meh) or the bank.
Got these back in December for the hubby. He retired and has taken up cooking as a hobby. (He’s actually a pretty good cook)
I don’t like these knives. When I use them to chop I slice my finger on the very sharp top so I won’t use them anymore. (And yes the sharper edge is facing down. Jerk.)
The hubby seems to like them except for one thing. He claims that while the holes serve to keep the knives cool when chopping really really fast (ummm… yeah right) they are an issue when scooping the finely chopped stuff off the cutting board to place into the prep bowl. It seems that the holes allow the food to fall through.
TLDR: The holes look cool but they degrade the functionality of the knives.
@shawn so basically, AmEx and Discover are okay…well I guess this is what I get for not having either one of those in the arsenal. Oh! Idea. Can meh just put me down for 1 red and then give me an IOU. I’m good for it bruh.
@cmchance
The “processor” didn’t like my Discover card, either. I guess I will go to bed and try again in the daylight. (If I haven’t overloaded my cards at Morningsave, or some fool kiddie hacker from Gamestop torches me. I used my credit there several years ago for Christmas purchases – I guess Gamestop keeps their data in plain text.)
If I buy new mediocre knives, what shall I do with my old mediocre knives? Do thrift stores take used knives? To recycle the blades I’d need to get them out of the hafts, and they’d be dangerous to handle. I guess I could put them in the trash, but only if I could wrap them up in something tough so they couldn’t poke our garbage collectors.
@catherinedevlin Thrift stores do take knives. The best way to get a knife block is to go to the thrift store, buy a block with knives, donate the knives right back, keep the block.

Don’t you think the Model NUMBER Council will reject a model number schema that actually contains no numbers?
Bought these last time and honestly they’re fantastic for the price. No they’re not the best knives out there but for under $20 for a 4 knife set that is sturdy, super sharp, comes with a (mediocre) sharpener and is easily washable is a win.

Knives two days in a row. Nice going.
Couldn’t be bothered to read the copy before posting, eh?
/giphy eh why bother
@haydesigner I read it but the fact they admit to it doesn’t make my statement false.
I’m extending my offer of free knishes to anybody who dares make the attempt to meet me in real life.
@PlacidPenguin Which end of the knife will you hold out?
@Pantheist
Should probably have clarified that I was referring to the food.
__
Simple way of explaining is: Pastry dough filled with mashed potato.
@PlacidPenguin
But what do you call it when it’s mashed potato filled with pastry dough?
@phendrick
(I call it) confused.
@PlacidPenguin hmm… if it said knishes to begin with, then I completely msiread that.
@PlacidPenguin Where do you live?
@JanaS
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@PlacidPenguin
That was my daring attempt to meet you in real life. So how are you getting these free knishes you promised to me?
@JanaS
There’s fine print which was removed stating that the person would have to be successful in actually physically getting to me.
@PlacidPenguin I’ll have two kasha knishes please. Try explaining kasha to the masses!!!
@phelmurh
I’d say ‘well played’, but it would be easier for me to redirect them to Wikipedia.
@phendrick “But what do you call it when it’s mashed potato filled with pastry dough?” … if you could make a Beef Wellington with mashed potatoes instead of beef, maybe it would be called a Welled Mash-ington?

@PlacidPenguin
Damn the fine print I say, Damn the fine print!
I like LSQ. What’s she up to these days? Also, her sons are cuuute
I’ll just post this again…
@skoobar Excellent video!
The picture links on this page are for yesterday’s knife. Guess all it takes is two knives in a row for you guys to mess that up.
Also your joke picture for today is a day late. Robin Wright’s (aka Princess Buttercup) birthday was yesterday.
I must say, I am disappointed in you Meh. As usual.
@Mehsturbator Pictures of today’s knives from December 18th, 2016
Truly, Madly, Hungry.
Not buying unless you include the missing metal pieces.
/giphy rip off
Seems like Giphy coated this GIF with a layer of smooth, creamy HTML.
@awk I know I’m late to the discussion but I give that landing a score of ten out of ten. They pat each other on the ass so why not continue to get personal right on the field. Ripped off face mask is clearly an open invitation.
The knives are good, the sharpener is bad.
Where’s chef tony when you need him
Save us miracle blade!
Gary Glitter kinda looks like Mark Wahlberg
Or not mehbe
Oh, no, it’s the “Warning: Any attempt to wash by hand may result in exsanguination” knives!
Wouldn’t the holes just increase cutting resistance? Seems like things would get in them and catch on the edges when you slide the knife through food.
@Pantheist I have knives similar to this, and you are correct. Also, if a sponge is used to clean, moving from metal to holes to metal tends to shred the sponge.
@Pantheist i have a cheese knife with round holes in it and have never had those problems. that said, i have not tried using it on anything else.
@jerk_nugget Hard or soft cheese?
@Pantheist i like it best for in between cheeses like cheddar or jack that you’d slice to put on a burger or on a snack tray but i’ve used it for brie, cambazola, goat, etc too.
@jerk_nugget From what I’ve read, hollowed knives were intended for firm foods like cheese where the good would not expand into the gap.
I wonder how it would work if the ‘support’ pieces were angled?
Anybody know how well these actually work and if they can be thrown in the dishwasher? I’m a lazy man who needs the dishwasher in my knife life
@MrMikenIkes I bought 2 sets a few months ago, pretty decent for the money.
@MrMikenIkes they’re good. Seem to catch rust easily in the dishwasher for some reason, but I just scrub it off with a sponge and it’s good as new.
@MrMikenIkes This is the second set I’ve bought. Had the last ones for about 7 months and they were still in great shape but my ex took them when she moved out.
@demonbane That bitch.
Bought them last time. Turns out they’re pretty damn good
@afullbeard Good to know, I bought a couple sets last time to (someday) give as presents.
whats up…cant process orders?
@eazyrider me either. What gives
@eazyrider couldn’t “process” either of my cards
@eazyrider @cmchance @phendrick Yeah, Stripe seems to be having some trouble right now:
/giphy meh
/giphy eh?
/giphy whoa!
Between the knife and hand tool sales, I think @meh is secretly building an army and outfitting them with hand weapons. I’m not sure how the bluetooth speakers fit in but @meh is smarter than me so who am I to wonder.
I don’t think she is, but then again, she doesn’t always talk much on the forum, so she could be (building an army) I suppose.
@elimanningface The Bluetooth speakers are the modern day equivalent of the drummer boy. Every good hand tool militia needs music.

Keep getting this error no matter what.
@cmchance Most Credit Cards (most but not all) are good for three years. Double check that expiration date.

Can’t order, lame, I mean meh.
Our payment processor is having a little trouble right now but they’re looking into it

@catherinedevlin I can vouch that thrift stores accept knives, as I’ve purchased several myself.
For safety, they tape the cutting edge lengthwise with reinforced packing tape.
The word mad used with knife – what could possibly go wrong ?
“… And you bought 16 of these …” as of 12:20 CST.
Truly meh knives, or truly meh credit processing?
I guess we will be seeing these knives offered again …, soon?
Knishes be trippin’.
https://status.stripe.com/
They seemed to have had truly great uptime numbers … until now!
Payments are going through now. (Looks like Meh has sold about 30 sets in just the last few minutes.)

If you use these types of knives, you probably shop at Walmart
@joshtooley And voted for Trump amirite?
Wow, they’re just flying out the door!
knives again? whats wrong with u meh
More knives
Bought these last time. Decent knives except for the bread knife which is downright dangerous.
@simulant How so? Mehbe I like dangerous.
amazon comparison link is for yesterday’s knife. here’s one for the set today, $34.99, prime, no reviews.

I had the card processing problem last night too, it worked today but red was sold out.
Saw these, thought, “Holy shitsnacks, my wife will eviscerate me if I buy any more knives!”
Fortunately, it’s been a full life.

My gf needs new knives…
edit There’s absolutely no way I could know how amazingly that gif would line up with my comment!
@Breakmedown oh my…
