13 sounds like a lot of letters - until you realize a lot of perfectly normal words have 13 letters. Like the ones @Limewater named in last Friday’s 13-Letter Words quiz. See? Not an extraordinary, uncomfortable, inappropriate, or even very sophisticated word in the list:
@DrWorm@revloki I didn’t get the Nationwide ad either but at least it looked familiar. Maybe I skipped the Super Bowl the year the Groupon one came out?
@medz I am sort of curious what the consensus is regarding the two famous participants in the commercial. Did more people here recognize Joe Namath or Farrah Fawcett?
My first reaction was “The Coke and Noxema ad are iconic, but I understand that people under a certain age aren’t going to recognize them, but how does anybody not recognize the pets.com video?” Then doing the math, I see that ad is already 20 years old??

7-Up
China Buffet
The Muppet Show
A cream corn company
Some bathtub company
Coke
Groupon
Pets.com (a lot of kids won’t get this one)
Noxema!
Nationwide Insurance… this was aired the year that basically everyone joked that Nationwide Killed Bambi’s mom.
@revloki I am reasonably sure you got them all. With the exception of the Groupon one, this was a surprisingly easy bunch.

@medz
Is 29 really considered old?
@DrWorm I was just happy I knew who the dude from the old footage was.
@medz I am sort of curious what the consensus is regarding the two famous participants in the commercial. Did more people here recognize Joe Namath or Farrah Fawcett?
@DrWorm I didn’t recognize her. She looks like all the other good-lookin’ gals of the era. Joe, on the other hand, is pretty distinctive looking.
@DrWorm @medz Both of them- The football guy and Charlie’s Angel.
