@mehcuda67 Take a look at all the movies from back then though. Real adults with a broad age range played adults with a broad age range, not a 20 something pretending to be 40 (or 12 for that matter).
@mehcuda67 I just realized that I never thought I’d be able to use the phrase “sensual Caucasian knee dancing” in a conversation without a lot of preliminary work. And while I did start this whole discussion, it was not with that result in mind. This is a great day for me.
Or a 60+ year old leading male actor paired with a 25-30 year old romantic interest lead female actor.
Edward Everett Horton was born in 1886 according to Wikipedia. So- easily great-grandparents or with a little luck, even great-great grandparents. That makes it much better.
Pretty risque for 1934! One thing I can’t get out of my head though - the dancers would have been more than old enough to be my grandparents.
Gaaah!

@mehcuda67 and they keep switching dance partners

@mehcuda67 So, you’re disturbed by the thought of your sexy, sexy grandparents and their sensual Caucasian knee dancing?

@Kidsandliz @mehcuda67 I was expanding on the comment about today’s film casting tropes.
@Kidsandliz @mehcuda67 @mike808 Wasn’t it Edward Everett Horton who did a lot of voice work on the Rocky and Bullwinkle show?
@Kidsandliz @macromeh @mehcuda67 @mike808 According to imdb, yes. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002143/?ref_=tt_cl_t4
I like the part where dance partner 1 smacks her knee and dance partner 2 is wearing hockey gear or something.
Thought maybe the violence was about to escalate when piano woman kicked piano man.
Well it rhymes better than “bump uglies”.
And what about those socks with sandals? He seems to be the only one, so I’m guessing unsightly toenail fungus.
@macromeh Well, it’s Edward Everett Horton, so it’s probably shorthand/code for “repressed homosexuality.”
/giphy Jiggly boobies
that guy totally looks like he could be related to craig ferguson.
@thismyusername That’s an impressive schnoz.
@therealjrn @thismyusername Goes with the ears.
@thismyusername he does!! Who is he?
@thismyusername I looked up Edward Everett Horton’s bio last night, and his mother was Scottish… Good catch!
@macromeh @therealjrn @thismyusername those ears got nothing on the guy I saw on “Beat Bobby Flay” the other night.
Probably safer than knocking boots.
@ThunderChicken but a lot less fun
After watching that video, it took me way too long to realize that they meant “gay” as in “happy.”
