@ybmuG Okay, but then you need a profound artist’s statement on the observation of life, impermanence, sustenance, ownership, charity, the natural world … etc etc etc.
@Kyeh@ybmuG I learned this in a history of art class (sounds like it would be silly easy stuff but professor was excellent and it was a very good and hard class)
The purpose of art is to stimulate an emotion or response from the viewer. It does not need to be a favorable response. It does not need to be explained by the artist, and in most cases shouldn’t be! It may create vastly different feelings from different viewers, or in fact the same viewer over different periods in their life.
@Kyeh@pmarin bingo! Now i just need to find at least 2 people to have a strong enough reaction to want to part with some dough and drive the price up…
araT said “you’re taking that back outside, right?” Not exactly the visceral reaction I was going for, but it’s a start. All good art starts slow. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
@pmarin@ybmuG Well, without the fame if an established artist like Maurizio Cattelan you might need to give people a nudge to get them to part with the big bucks.
I’m familiar with what people say is art and what isn’t, but now that AI has come along it seems like it’s gotten more bananas than ever.
@aetris and yet there’s nothing unique about a banana or duct tape either. It’s about the placement and the feelings invoked as one might round the corner of the gallery and see it on a pedestal.
Looks like they went nuts for the seeds.
(Coincidentally, a squirrel is also the mascot for a site called Daily Steal…)
@pakopako
You ever buy anything off daily steal? Do they have grab boxes?
@Star2236 honestly, they’re like today’s Woot. Kind of all over the place, but with MorningSave style of searching
It was a pie pumpkin. Now it’s just a pie hole
Duct tape it to a wall and put a price tag on it!!!
@Kyeh how about I put it in a pie plate and call it “Pie Hole” ©ybmuG

@Kyeh it’s art. It just is. I’ll let my fans define what it means to them.
@ybmuG But then you can’t sell it for millions of dollars!

@Kyeh @pmarin @ybmuG
@Kyeh @pmarin @PooltoyWolf @ybmuG Wouldn’t it work better if you advertise the squirrel as the artist, and you’re just its manager?
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf @xobzoo @ybmuG
“A Portrait of the Artist as a young Squirrel”
/showme squirrel creating artistic sculpture
You’re going to have to flog it somewhere people DON’T have squirrel-carved pumpkins, for a start.
@aetris Peanut butter primer?

Caught him!
@ybmuG And you are kind enough to forgo millions to let the squirrel have his thanksgiving left overs to day.
