Local murals
5I think this one is courtesy of the Williamson-Dickie company, which makes “Dickies” work and casual clothing.
I suppose it would photograph a bit better on a sunny day.
Downtown Fort Worth
Maybe I got the history wrong?

We’re internationally famous for our beautiful murals. This is just a small sampling of the many beautiful murals you will find all over town. Note: I did not rake these photos.
@moondrake google images thinks you live in El Paso. Izzat so? Anyway, your murals are super duper.
A few more of the many I love. As you can see, many of them are celebrations of hispanic culture, often the harmonious blend of three cultures here on the border;, Mexican, American, and Native American/Mayan. Others are memorials to prominent people that shaped our community.
@moondrake
Those are so beautiful!
That’s what I was hoping this topic would become.
When you are out and about, take more pix!
@moondrake
Who’s this???
@therealjrn I don’t know. I suspect that she’s more emblematic than memorial. One of the ones above is David Carasco, a prominent local figure whose early death was reckoned a huge loss to the community. I believe the priest is Father Yermo, about whom I know nothing except there are a lot of things named after him. I’m more of of a Now and a Visual person, I don’t track much history.
@moondrake
Oh, I wake up in a new world each day.
@Barney, there are many means to take decent digital pix while on the go.
(Assuming that KS has murals and other forms of fun or evocative outdoor art with local significance…)
SMARTPHONES, for instance.

@f00l You are so mean!
@Barney
I know! There’s barely any purple in that rainbow!
@f00l That’s actually the main selling point that got me to buy this Pixel, best phone camera anywhere. Now if only the phone part worked as well as the camera. Not to mention that stuck-up bitch Google Assistant.
I can see this from my work. It’s supposedly the largest publicly funded mural in the US. Not my photo.
@djslack I’m pretty sure the program in Philly is publicly funded. If so, the Eagles mural I posted below may very well be the largest mural out there. That warehouse it’s on is easily 800’ long.
@cinoclav Good point. The article that said that is from 2011. Even still, it could be close. I read this mural is 30k square feet.
I see your size changed. I didn’t doubt the first size. One of my warehouses at work is over 1400’ long and another around 1200. Walking every aisle for a WiFi site survey gave me a lot of steps.
@djslack I had gone back and done a quick measurement on the image. Google Maps said .2 miles while Bing’s said about 800’.
For a small city, we have some interesting ones, not as spectacular because no building big enough
The wings were painted as a memorial for a friend of mine’s daughter in law who was killed in the Las Vegas shooting
Philadelphia has an amazing mural arts program. Check it out here: https://www.muralarts.org/
A couple of samples:
And of course the Super Bowl Champion Eagles!
