Lifehacks 2: The Re-hackening.

25

So my "Belkin Bluetooth Keyboard Case for the Galaxy something something not an iPad" arrived today, and after sizing it up against an iPad 2, I discovered that there was 0% likelihood that my iPad would fit the original bracket. I really wanted to make the iPad fit though, so it was time to lifehack my iPad case to the Belkin case.

The first thing I did was remove the plastic plate in the case. I figured that if I damaged something, I could just do the original scissor hack. Pull out your trusty putty knife/Spackle knife/something flat and have at it. I found that starting from the two thinner pieces closer to the keyboard were the best starting point.

Keep working at the glue with a mixture of knife work and brute force ripping. Don't worry too much about bending the case lining or flex; All of the strength came from that brace we're replacing. Eventually, you'll be left with this:
Plastic brace is donezo

Move on to the iPad case.
mmmm fingerprints

Flip that sucker over, and clip off any weird bits. Then, proceed to cut off the front of the case.

You'll now be left with a liberated iPad brace for the Belkin.
Freedom

I couldn't take pictures of the next bit out of a need for two hands. What I did was use hot glue to affix the old iPad case to the Belkin case. I'd recommend you don't do this, as you're going to have a rough time with alignment before the glue dries. It also looks ugly. Use super glue or Gorilla Glue.

After all is said and done, you should now have a meh looking iPad keyboard case that does the job, and only cost you $5 plus your old iPad case.
