Lifehacks 2: The Re-hackening.
25So my "Belkin Bluetooth Keyboard Case for the Galaxy something something not an iPad" arrived today, and after sizing it up against an iPad 2, I discovered that there was 0% likelihood that my iPad would fit the original bracket. I really wanted to make the iPad fit though, so it was time to lifehack my iPad case to the Belkin case.
The first thing I did was remove the plastic plate in the case. I figured that if I damaged something, I could just do the original scissor hack. Pull out your trusty putty knife/Spackle knife/something flat and have at it. I found that starting from the two thinner pieces closer to the keyboard were the best starting point.
Keep working at the glue with a mixture of knife work and brute force ripping. Don't worry too much about bending the case lining or flex; All of the strength came from that brace we're replacing. Eventually, you'll be left with this:
Move on to the iPad case.
Flip that sucker over, and clip off any weird bits. Then, proceed to cut off the front of the case.
You'll now be left with a liberated iPad brace for the Belkin.
I couldn't take pictures of the next bit out of a need for two hands. What I did was use hot glue to affix the old iPad case to the Belkin case. I'd recommend you don't do this, as you're going to have a rough time with alignment before the glue dries. It also looks ugly. Use super glue or Gorilla Glue.
After all is said and done, you should now have a meh looking iPad keyboard case that does the job, and only cost you $5 plus your old iPad case.

@medz That is terrifying, now that you point it out.
@medz he lives with Claude Raines
Shhhhhh. He is 118 now. Looks just as I recall though.
Wow
Well done

Awesome! Am I going to try it? Damn skippy!
I also made the case fit my HP Touchpad. Took off the plate and (here is the questionable part) super-glued the Touchpad to the case. I'm cool with it.
I did something similar for my venue8 pro.
@usernamemeh Ah yes, the 4 elements... Fire, Water, Earth, and...BEAR
I was thinking of prying off the plastic just to make it close more flat so it could share the neoprene case with my 13.3" Hannspad. But it looks ugly. Guess I'll leave alone unless I find a cool sticker I can cover the area with. Or maybe glue some suede or non-slip counter liner there to make the surface grippy. I'd go with gorilla glue or household glue, hot glue is bulky and dries brittle.
Mehtastic.
BTW, I love the keyboard!
I got mine today and did the same thing minus altering the iPad case. With a smart cover I can set it in place and it works great. I just have to remember it is not all one unit when I go to pick it up. Overall very pleased with it, especially for a $5 item.
I am planning on making measurements and 3D printing up a fitting frame for my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. And no, it doesn't fit. Not particularly surprised or disappointed; I also like this case better than the bare case I already have for that tab.
