@awk At every wine tasting I’ve done, I comment on the first 3 wines by saying “this one tastes like grapes.” Then I move on to “oooooooh grapey!” Then I say something about stone fruit and slate.
@OnionSoup I’ve never made a statue, and I only have a vague recollection of what a badger looks like, but I’d be willing to sculpt you a badger statue for the right price.
@warpedrotors as super cool as that would be, I know that for how much work and artistry would go into making a custom statue like that, I wouldn’t have the discretionary spending to pay you what it would be worth…
…and whereas I am actually looking for a Badger statue at the moment, not sure how insane it would be to ship a concrete Badge statue… I imagine that’s neither cheap nor easy.
Pedroncelli? No brainer. I’m not too fond of white, but SB and Gewurz are the ones I buy when white is needed. Together? This could be a marriage, but it could go the way of many marriages . . .
I’ve never seen modicum used for something that is measurable, like chardonnay. It just feels wrong. It’s usually a modicum of respect or dignity or truth, etc. Because it feels wrong, but I guess is technically correct, I will now use it more often. I think I’ll start by having a modicum of bacon.
@UncleVinny now you’ve done it! I don’t think we needed to pluralize it. I now have more than a modicum of unease over this development. I need a modicum of minutes to think this over.
@pmarin@warpedrotors throw out the rulebook, friend! We’re obliterating the boundaries of language, space and time itself! You can get in on the ground floor of this ground-breaking coffee-ground-scented revolution!
@FajitaofTreason@warpedrotors three iotas to a splash, two splashes to a morsel, five morsels to a whiff and 9 whiffs to a modicum. That’s my calculus on the groove we’re laying down, anyway.
meanwhile back to guy in underpants, I am thinking he only put on underpants in case the UPS guy came to the door needing an Adult Signature. After waiting all day watching TV feeling the uncomfortable burden of underpants, he will walk out the door and find the “sorry we missed you — you must be here to sign” sticker, 10 feet away from where he was waiting all day. In underpants.
@pmarin yea… I about ordered. Then started thinking can they deliver here because our state used to have very stupid laws. Then even if they can do i want to talk to someone face to face. Hmmm
A fruit cocktail blended with floral notes, peach, and pineapple. Bright flavors are highlighted with passion fruit, peach, a touch of honey, and a hint of mystery.
There’s the divorced dad in underpants watching daytime TV wine experience I’ve been craving.
@UncleVinny btw… I don’t think Meh mentioned it, but the label on this wine is by Matthew, the guy who created Irk, Glenn, Chicken on the Mic and all the songs and videos we all love so much. You should follow him on Instagram: toadyco. His channel is super fun. Thank you for listening. I was paid less than a snag of modicums for this announcement.
@UncleVinny This whole modicum thing reminds me of when a coworker and I agreed that chalant should be a word. It technically is in French, and how could there be nonchalant if there’s no chalant to add the non to? We would then toss chalant into everyday conversations and do things with chalance, or chalantly. What I’m trying to say is I was impressed by the label on this bottle and will chalantly present it at a modicum of gatherings.
@UncleVinny Further research has revealed that there is no present participle version of the verb chaloir, so chalant maybe technically isn’t even a real word in French. That makes me want to use it more.
@mossygreen@UncleVinny@warpedrotors I’m gruntled that
you were plussed by it!

2022 Libatia The White Witch White Wine, Dry Creek Valley
Tasting Notes
An enchantress’s brew of Sauvignon Blanc for a dash of tropical fruit, a touch of Gewurztraminer for spice, and a modicum of Chardonnay for citrus notes. The blend puts all the best into the bottle from this witchy combination of three comparable grapes. The vintage brought us a wine showcasing excellent quality, great aromatics, and balanced acidity.
Very aromatic! A fruit cocktail blended with floral notes, peach, and pineapple. Bright flavors are highlighted with passion fruit, peach, a touch of honey, and a hint of mystery. The finish is delightful and refreshing. Enjoy on its own or pair with midnight gatherings, feasts, or early Autumn rites.
For nearly a century, the Pedroncelli family has been crafting exceptional wines in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. It all began in 1927 when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased a vineyard and a small winery west of Geyserville; two elements have remained unchanged since then - the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family farms their vineyards and their dedication to creating fine wines.
For nine decades, the Pedroncelli family has been producing wines of the highest quality, tradition, and heritage. Their commitment to excellence and their family-run business makes them a trusted source of great wines - enjoy them with confidence.

“Your order number is: tropical-minor-fly”
Minor?? I’m not a minor. If I were, you wouldn’t sell it to me.
BTW, in many places, including here in Texas, an “adult” has to receive the delivery and sign for it. It’s a hassle if you cannot be home when they come by. Took me three days to get the last case picked up.
I tried the coupon here and it didn’t work, just as it wasn’t supposed to.
I bought a case anyway as I am out of whites entirely. I may have had their white at the winery once, I don’t remember, but I always like their reds so I’m good with the price.
I let the last coupon that I got expire and never got to use it so I stopped buying Casemates for a while out of spite but just ask my family- they will tell you that I have zero willpower I’ll be back in.
Hard MEH. Everyone knows that the only White Witch is Jadis of Charn! Tilda Swinton playing her gave this gaybro a very confused boner lol Come at me, you people who haven’t read all of the chronicles of narnia!
@Mark_L I do not want to contemplate the implications of the entirely serendipitous combination of the statement and order “number” above. I understand why you flipped to a different giphy; well played.
My package apparently is still in San Pablo, CA. Tracking says my package may be delayed by operating conditions, twice in five days, the latest being yesterday the 23rd). I am wondering if operating conditions include actually moving freight. Ever since Casemates switched from FedEx to UPS nearly every shipment has been a train wreck, to the point I rarely order from them anymore. SMH.
@davidd13 wow that’s surprising. I’ve had FedEx packages tossed on the straight stolen left outside in the rain in the dark a block from where I live. But I’ve never had an issue from UPS. I’ve always said I think there’s a geographical thing for which of the delivery agencies works the best
My tasting notes would be: Notes of wine, with a wine-like finish. Wine aroma. Wine appearance. Definitely some kind of wine.
@awk At every wine tasting I’ve done, I comment on the first 3 wines by saying “this one tastes like grapes.” Then I move on to “oooooooh grapey!” Then I say something about stone fruit and slate.
Soooo… is that coupon code for casemates only available if you buy this wine? Not very clear from the midnight description
@caffeineguy I applied it to the case for sale now and it takes off $25. I haven’t bought it. Good for everyone.
I was curious, the same as @caffeineguy, so thanks for doing the dirty work @jaybird !
This deal seems like a bunch if sour grapes.
I was hoping for a life-sized concrete badger statue for sale today… I leave disappointed and will wine about it
@OnionSoup OTOH, I know where you can get a concrete four-section sea serpent, or a giant concrete armadillo…
@OnionSoup I’ve never made a statue, and I only have a vague recollection of what a badger looks like, but I’d be willing to sculpt you a badger statue for the right price.
@werehatrack fortunately, I know a couple good concrete statue places near me… unfortunately, never seen a badger at one.
This is the price point we like from our pedroncelli friends.
@jaybird I don’t care the vintner, I prefer to be paid to drink my wine. My rates are very reasonable!
ok, my dyslexia kicked in hard & read the label wrong on sooooo many levels.
Got mine yesterday:
/giphy gothic-chunky-army
Jk . Cancelled that 6 bottle order to do 12. Good holiday gifts perhaps.
/giphy titled-grandiose-neck
Why not? Pedroncelli is a solid vintner. I think my wife will dig this.
/giphy retro-illustrious-cough
@capnjb Sorry everyone.
@capnjb So THAT’s where the missing arm went.

@warpedrotors I read your comment with 3 and a half modicums of enjoyment!
@UncleVinny now you’ve done it! I don’t think we needed to pluralize it. I now have more than a modicum of unease over this development. I need a modicum of minutes to think this over.
@UncleVinny @warpedrotors wouldn’t plural of modicum be modici?
@warpedrotors How many splashes do you think are in a modicum?
@pmarin @warpedrotors throw out the rulebook, friend! We’re obliterating the boundaries of language, space and time itself! You can get in on the ground floor of this ground-breaking coffee-ground-scented revolution!

@FajitaofTreason @warpedrotors also, having more than one modicum, well, maybe a few on weekends, means you are being immoderate.
@pmarin @UncleVinny apparently not, but modica is an option.

@pmarin Oh, wait, this is what I came here to say. while watching TV in underpants.
/giphy incompetent-gaudy-cottage
@pmarin a certain amount of prep is called for. I’ll maybe wear a snuggie while waiting for my hootch delivery!

@pmarin yea… I about ordered. Then started thinking can they deliver here because our state used to have very stupid laws. Then even if they can do i want to talk to someone face to face. Hmmm
Was disappointed the side-deal didn’t involve cheese.

@warpedrotors I 100% agree! I will be ruthful in my deployment of “chalant” and my enemies will be plussed by my bold maneuvers.
@UncleVinny If you crastinate in your imploits and deavours, it would be reckful. I’ve confused myself now. I need 3 modicums of nap.
@UncleVinny @warpedrotors May your enemies remain both kempt and ruly.

Not really a at-home wine drinker. My wife doesn’t drink wine, I can’t finish a bottle before it starts to sour. And yes, I can tell.
@hchavers Have you tried the wine preserver gas cans?
This…… is…… autobuy….
@Drez143 Actually this is meh.com not autobuy.
My order number is a bit disconcerting…

What, no rattage? Oh well, Pedro is a no-brainer:

@ChadP since I love white you are going to make me wish that I bought some but I was in the middle of a move and couldn’t do it

@midai it says to use the coupon on the Casemate site for your next purchase
@kitkat34 @midai Which he acknowledged: the coupon “…didn’t work, just as it wasn’t supposed to.”
Any information about residual sugar? I don’t see that in the product specs.
@cathyk39 My assumption is that if it’s not mentioned, there isn’t any. I would love to be wrong.
Hard MEH. Everyone knows that the only White Witch is Jadis of Charn! Tilda Swinton playing her gave this gaybro a very confused boner lol Come at me, you people who haven’t read all of the chronicles of narnia!
So, is this Labia the white witch a character from some book? I’ve never heard of her before.
@donpratt Nope. Libatia is a variant on the word “libation”, to create a name for a white wine.
@donpratt Labia is probably a pink witch.
Probably something my wife will like.

In for a 6 pack. Though after this week it’s going to be solidly into red wine weather in MI. These may have to wait until next summer.
