Back to school goat (August 2024 goat nominations)
0July is coming to a close, it’s almost the start of a new school year, and it’s our last chance to (un)blame our current goat @mycya4me, for ten years of meh!
Also that means it’s time for a new goat – so nominate away!

I have had FUN being the July/ 10 Years of Meh Goat. I know that many Have Fussed!! hehehe. I was doing me! & teasing y’all! So you only have a few more days of trying to Blame me!
@mycya4me This, too, is your fault. BLAME for there only being 31 days in July.
@werehatrack HAHAHAHA
@mycya4me @werehatrack And it is his fault that we live on earth rather than another planet were days are longer and so there’d be more minutes in a month.
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @werehatrack On that planet, we’d also probably be shorter with the increase in gravity to slow down the days.
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @pakopako @werehatrack omg, I don’t need to be shorter. There would be nothing left.
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @pakopako @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
@werehatrack what if I had requested the Jewish Calendar? Remember it is based on the Lunar cycles. a New day begins at Sundown.
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @pakopako Mars is much smaller and less dense than Earth, with a significantly lower gravity, yet has a day that’s slightly longer. Venus, by comparison, has a surface gravity much closer to that of Earth, yet it has a day that is slightly over 116 of our days long. Planetary rotational rates are not determined by mass and density.
@Kidsandliz @pakopako @werehatrack but you would half to contend with the Dangerous Atmosphere of Venus. You could never go out without a pressure suit, like the ones that Astronauts must wear for a EVA or to walk on the Moon.
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @pakopako Not just dangerous in composition, it’s also hot enough at the surface of the planet to melt several metals, and the surface pressure is over 1200psi, higher than the pressure at which the Oceangate submersible imploded but not as high as the pressure at the depth of Titanic. (Venus surface pressure is approximately the equivalent of 3,000ft below the surface of a terrestrial ocean. Oceangate’s submersible failed before it had reached 2000 ft, although it had been far deeper on previous dives. The final report on that failure has yet to be issued.)
@mycya4me @pakopako @werehatrack So can I have someone send the owners and manager of this hud I live in sent to the surface of this planet please?
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @pakopako It would be cheaper to build them another Oceangate submersible and send them down for a tour of the wreck of Titanic. Of course, 55 gallon drums, a few sacks of concrete, and a secluded bridge over a rural waterway would be faster, cheaper, at least as effective, and far less likely to be noticed right away.
@Kidsandliz @mycya4me @pakopako @werehatrack Why do you assume that their replacements would be better? (IME, the universe does not work that way…)
@Kidsandliz @pakopako @werehatrack well you would have two different contacts, 1 is Dr. Who, #2 is Cthulhu.
@Kidsandliz @macromeh @pakopako @werehatrack It has worked for the Jewish people for 1000’s of years! No I am not Jewish.
/showme @Pmarin for Goat
Based on the recent post in the blame thread it sounds like @atannir is chomping at the bit to be goat and already is showing a willingness to take the blame. And so I nominate @atannir
@Kidsandliz As long as there aren’t too many responsibilities… Prepare for disappointment!
@atannir @Kidsandliz Even physical existence is not mandatory; mediocrebot has been the goat. And June’s goat ghosted the thread from one end to the other.
@Kidsandliz @werehatrack Woo, a temporary title without added responsibilities! I might even forget to mention that the saying is champing at the bit, although chomp has been a variant “since at least 1645” so I should just get with the times. Now there’s reason to punish or reward me with goatness, in case that was lacking before.
@atannir @Kidsandliz @werehatrack “your goatness” is going to be a popular term this summer.
@atannir @pakopako @werehatrack
/giphy your goatness
@atannir @pakopako @werehatrack Hmm that gif would have been useful for tomorrow when the new goat is goated.
