Let's think about our scapegoat a little differently this month
35Hey y'all,
As most of you know our scapegoat for this month @Pavlov (and if you don't know what a scapegoat is, here is a brief history), was pretty seriously injured in a work accident. Normally we like to heap blame for all of our problems and woes for the month on our scapegoat, that's kinda the whole point of having a scapegoat, but considering the bad news I figured we could try something a little different…
For the rest of this month instead of blaming our goat, why don't we thank him for everything that goes right in our lives. That way when @Pavlov recovers and manages to check his email he'll be bombarded with positivity.
I'll start – thanks @Pavlov for letting me have a fun and relaxing weekend and getting to swim in our pool for the first time this summer!
Get well soon, friend!

@Pavlov - thanks for the awesome t-bone steaks we ate last night. and for the tasty wine that went with them.
@pavlov Thank you for the wonderful announcements from WWDC and a public beta for both OS X and for the first time a public beta of iOS in July, oh wait.. that's the same time Windows 10 launches with the free upgrade for windows 7 &8/8.1 users. Thank you for all geekiness that is going on right now, July is going to be a fun month....
@sohmageek Not. Doing major backup plans now. Cloud, WD drives, and I'm thinking about optical. Not that the Windows update will fu..scr...hose things up, of course.
@sohmageek Not the most accurate article as they forgot another group but "El Capitan" is now on hundred of thousands of macs, also anyone can become a developer$$$ http://9to5mac.com/2015/06/08/retail-testing-ox-x-el-capitan/
@OldCatLady backups?? What's that??? Actually I'm going to be a bit busy at work testing 10 also for compatibility probably won't be for 2 years or so till we really kick off migration but by then I should have all pcs on 64 bit. Maybe even small form factor pcs too.
@OldCatLady oh and that's another reason I'm hoping to find a cheap synology and some wd reds on sale. Almost picked up one of the 4 Tb reds for $140 at newegg the other day.
Plans for backup are synology--> crashplan. Thinking I may crack out the DVDs for photo archives also but drives are starting to be missing on our pc's hopefully windows keeps support for optical drives as long as they did for floppy discs.
Alternative thought for local/offsite backup was find some USB thumb drives (they are cheap enough) for the important baby photos.
@fjp999 very true. I used to have a friend that was a developer. He now just doesn't .net and didn't re subscribe for developer account. I used to jailbreak to get all the cool things and find leaked beta versions but with the phone being an extension of my credit cards now. I just don't.
@sohmageek You may need your own board just so we tech addicts can discuss similar events of earth-shattering importance. Oh, and the upcoming geomagnetic pole reversal, of course. It's going to be rough when all the pins in all connectors need to be physically inverted, don't you think? (I've heard stranger things said, but beer was involved.) If it doesn't happen this month, we can thank @Pavlov.
@Pavlov My kids want to thank you for their upcoming trip to Disney World (first time for them - super excited).
@pavlov Thanks for giving me an early outlet for my atrophying Photoshop skills and reminding me how damn much I like to use that software. Also, thanks for the crabcakes last night. They were amazing.
Thank you @Pavlov for the sunshine these past few days, for the love of my family no matter how odd I am, and for the beginning of summer vacation in just a few days!
@pavlov, thanks for beer flights, beer tastings, beer contests, and girls who serve beer.
@Pavlov thanks for getting me distracted from tedious school work with a silly photoshopping contest. I obsess over studying and it provided a very welcome break.
Okay, thanks, @Pavlov, for Mondays when you don't have to go to work because you're retired, for a foot doctor who says 'No surgery, just put this stuff on it for three weeks', and for Medicare so there is no doctor bill to pay. I just picked a lot of mint, because it was out to take over the world, so I'm making mojitos. I'd share, but the doctors wouldn't approve, so I'll drink yours.
@OldCatLady Damn, sounds like @Pavlov is treating you pretty well!
Thanks @Pavlov for a really great weekend full of good times, good people and good fun. Also thanks for me waking up this morning. That's always a pleasant surprise.
My wife is amazing, @Pavlov, and I had worked the weekend prior so I got to take all day off Friday.
And this Monday hasn't totally sucked.
Thanks, buddy.
@pavlov I participated in my first triathlon -- and survived. Thank you!! BTW Abe Vigoda -- bado hai (Swahili)
@mikibell Going to sign up for the Ironman triathlon next?
@Pavlov, I will join @marklog in thanking you for all beer-related things.
Additionally, I would like to thank you for my ability to go on a three-week trip to Europe later this year, and for the closeness I have with my family and friends.
Get well soon!
In @Pavlov's name, Ameh.
I thank @Pavlov for air conditioning in 100° plus heat. And I'm happy to give you the props for me washing floors yesterday when it wasn't so very, very warm....
Thank you, also, for Miss Elizabeth, our 21 year old cat, not having any leftover symptoms from her seizure under the welder on Saturday.
Thank you for cold water.
Thank you for Guardians of the Galaxy and this clip from the movie:
Thanks, @Pavlov, for what I'm told is a better-than-textbook recovery from my quadruple bypass a few weeks ago. May your recovery be even speedier.
Wow, @editorkid I wondered why you weren't around so much. So glad you're healing.
Thanks, @KDemo ... Ironically, being home all the time has meant much less computer time. I return to work a week from tomorrow and since I usually steal glances here during random moments of downtime, I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up here better than I have been.
Thanks @Pavlov for a glorious rum tasting this morning, and for the best beer flight ever (7 4oz glasses for 2 people). The whole vacation has been pretty wonderful, so thanks for that as well.
Thanks @Pavlov, for not eating the last taquito. It was delicious, and I really wanted it.
@Pavlov In all seriousness, I hope you get up on your feet (or goat) soon. Also. The light bulb and antiseptics were pretty solid. Dark sucks / Germs suck. Thanks for knocking that one out for us.
Thanks @Pavlov for BONNAROO 2015! The world's best music festival starts this week on Thursday and I will be there! Get well soon! Maybe you can join us next year!
I got to take a nap today with a fuzzy blanket and a fan. It was glorious. Thanks @Pavlov!
I'm a fan of @Thumperchick. Thank you @Pavlov for her choosing to nap with me.
@hallmike Um... was that lump... you?
Thank you @Pavlov for leaving a good Woot/AA shirt at my local Goodwill.
Thank you @Pavlov, I got to drink a disgusting kale smoothie for dinner - It sure hit the spot.
I had an awesome mead tasting this weekend, work actually challenged me today without getting irksome, and I managed to fit my several mile walk around the tornado-watch weather we were having today. So thank you, @Pavlov!
Thank you, @pavlov for all the incredibly meh items that have been for sale here this month. I have already ordered more this month than any other month. And there's three weeks more to go!
@pavlov wanted to share a fun clip that makes me laugh every time!!
Thank you @Pavlov! I had a wonderful time Sunday at a crafts festival with a friend I've been trying to spend more time with and it's all thanks to you!!!
Thanks @Pavlov, for the awesome foot rub I got last night. And for the "O"-mazing time that followed it!
Also, thank you for Magic Mike XXL coming soon. I'm ready to do some man-ogling!!
Thank you @Pavlov for a great sunny weekend, and for a sweet new home office with a treadmill desk. I'm excited to start working from home and checking meh more often.
Thank you @Pavlov for the job interview I have a week from Thursday... at the moment I have been unemployed or marginally employed far longer then meh has been in existence. With luck these numbers will start reversing themselves soon.
Thank you @Pavlov for the great sex last night. I hope Mrs. Pavlov isn't jealous. I think my wife was pretty happy about it.
@Mehrocco_Mole - Are you married to @pepsiwine?
@KDemo I don't think so.
Thanks @Pavlov for giving all of us some laughs and inspiration.
I hope we can do the same for you
Thanks @Pavlov for all the trips to the Texas Whorehouse this month. (Recently cast in the Musical: "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas") I couldn't have done it without you!
@CaffeineGuy Texas, has a whorehouse in it! Lord have mercy on our souls!
@Thumperchick and there is slime in the ice machine!
I did my daughter's hair this morning and it didn't look half bad. I think I'm getting the hang of it. Thanks, @Pavlov.
Thanks for nothing @Pavlov. That's right, I got to spend 30 mins doing nothing last night and it was glorious.
Thanks, @Pavlov, for thunderstorms. They're the best way to fall asleep, for reals. :D
Thanks @Pavlov for my laundry getting done last night. I slept really well on my fresh sheets. I couldn't have done it without you.
Thanks @Pavlov for the trip to the local water park! =D
Thank you, @Pavlov, for being the best goat yet. :-)
Thanks @Pavlov for all things starting to come together so my kid can buy his own house and move out.
I finally got my CPAP machine thingy today, @Pavlov! So, hopefully tomorrow I shall be thankful for a good night's sleep. Over time, I hope it will lead to less fatigue, less memory loss, being able to start working out again (if they can ever figure out the joint pain) and hopefully just being healthier for my kids. I'm thankful for insurance that pays for things like this.
Today was the last day of school, so that also means the kids and I get to sleep in tomorrow! Yay!
@PurplePawprints Let me know if you have any questions or problems or issues with your provider. I did that for a living for about 12 years :)
@Bingo Thanks! Last night was pretty miserable. Even still, with feeling like I didn't sleep at all because of constantly adjusting it or feeling like I was suffocating and/or drowning, I'm not tired today (yet). So, hopefully, I will get used to it and will learn how to use it properly soon.
@Bingo - Did you work for Apria? They recently switched to a central contact center and it's a nightmare trying to get anything communicated with a local office.
@KDemo No. I worked for several independent providers with the last one being an extremely large but still indie company. And yeah, I freaking HATE those places that use central call centers. Ugh. Best suggestion I have is find someone worth a crap at your local office and see if they will give you a direct number or email or something.
@PurplePawprints As someone who has been on both sides (And still uses an APAP every night) I can tell you it will take a couple months to get used to it. But believe it or not you will and it's worth it. Trust me, it'll blow your mind the first time you find yourself thinking it's not on only to pull the mask off and realize it's going full blast you're just so used to it you don't realize it :) Stick with it, it's worth it. Just aim for a little bit more each night
@PurplePawprints Also, if you didn't get a chance to do so, see if you can try other masks. Different masks work well for different people.
@Bingo - Good advice, thanks. I did have to go there in person, I was pretty angry but they sympathized. The people in the offices don't like it either.
Oh, and sorry @Pavlov for sidetracking your thread. Hope by now you've had your surgery and that you have bionic limbs.
@PurplePawprints https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/airing-the-first-hoseless-maskless-micro-cpap#/story
Just for you @Pavlov enjoy
@Squid_07 Thanks @pavlov for all goat vids.
@connorbush cannot forget this classic of goats.
@Pavlov Dude, thanks for the Fallout 4 announcement! <3
@Pavkov Thanks for my trip to LA this past weekend. It meant more to me than you can know.
@Pavlov Thank you for Milk Duds. They make me happy.
I just put a USB flash drive in correctly on the first try! Thanks @pavlov!
Thank you @pavlov for Bacon ... yeah, you made the world better
@WendyTVee @pavlov Bacon, my favorite vegetable! Thanks!
@pavlov thank you for the wonderful weather you have bestowed upon my geographic region! Get well soon!
@pavlov thank you for lunch away from my desk with good friends and lots of laughter!
@pavlov thanks you for the cute litte tadpoles I found in my turtle pool, and say Hi to Dr. Brody for me
@Pavlov Thank you for being part of this community and for so many great comments.
Oh ............. thanks for Magic Mike XXL, too!!
I forgot to than @Pavlov for the Triple Crown winner after all these years. WTG @Pavlov and American Pharoah!
Thanks @pavlov for convincing Lebron James to play for Cleveland again!
@Kevin Better luck next year!
@Pavlov, thanks for that Blackhawks win last night!
Thanks @Pavlov for simply being you. I have plenty to be thankful for in this world, but by you being you it's a reminder just how awesome some people can be. Wishing you a speedy recovery with all the love from the forum gang. And to @MrsPavlov, we know you're pretty awesome too because @Pavlov chose you!
I haven't bought anything here in a month... and I remembered to cancel VMP before getting charged.
Thanks, @Pavlov. That $5 will buy you a beer next time you're in Chicago, however long that takes.
@pavlov ...thank you for a beautiful day with my 12 year old..she was happy to have me on her field trip and my UC didn't flare up until we were safely home 8 hours later!
Any update on @pavlov's condition? (Don't know if it was addressed elsewhere.)
@YahSah15 - Last I know was June 8: https://meh.com/forum/topics/fuku-fuko-every-sunday-in-june#5576152daf21140405317787
Hey @Pavlov thanks for the lovely weather we're having in NY. Usually this time a year it's a stinky sweaty mess but you brought us a really nice cool breeze this evening!
Thanks @Pavlov for getting me two audio book narration gigs approved for sale this month.
@Pavlov It appears no has thanked you in a little while. Well, my daughter graduated 2nd grade today (yes, there are ceremonies for that now). She had mostly A's - so I thank you. Except, there was one B in math, which I should blame you for, but I won't - Get well!
@Pavlov I have decided to thank you for something each and every day, no matter how trivial. Annoying? Yes, but that's what I do. Today I received my GoPro 3 Hero Silver camera (refurb from Ebay) to attach to my new new Phantom 2 drone - This is Frick'n drone.horse's and @JonT's fault. Anyway, thanks for that. See you tomorrow.
Hey @pavlov .... I just rediscovered Trap music. Thanks for that. Really helping me do aerospace analysis--pricing, shopping, forecasting etc. You rule!
@connorbush but thanks @pavlov for another Star Wars movie!
@TerriblyHuang Thank you. I had this as my desktop background for some time.
TPIF!
@Pavlov, so today I was able to take the whole family out for a nice lunch. We started with raw oysters on the half shell. My daughter was like "gross, I am not touching those." But my son, who is 5 said, "I don't fear anything, I will eat it" (this from a kid who gags on pasta). But yes, he took it straight from the shell. As a New England'r, living on the Chesapeake I was very proud. Thanks for not making him throw up at the restaurant - see you tomorrow.
@Pavlov, We have ten more days of this (and hope you are well). I have little to show in the way of thanks for today. Besides trying to get the pool clear and yardwork done - which I doubt you would like to be thanked for - I am going to pull out the AV card (I was hoping to hold on to this). Thank you for keeping Abe Vigoda alive. - I will see you tomorrow.
Thanks @Pavlov for the $20 I found in front of my building yesterday. It wasn't yours, was it?
@Pavlov Today is an easy day to thank you for. Why, you wonder? Because I am thanking you for @MrsPavlov - she is a keeper! Her humorous update of your well being and silly antics in the hospital made me laugh. I will also thank you for your amazing prize to @Starblind I don't even now if you see these, but I will leave you with a couple of comedic clips that have always made laugh (yes, they are dated.) But laughter is the best medicine :) (disclaimer: foul language, and just funny inappropriate humor at times)
Ice cream man is my favorite. (this one is actually the entire show, and for some reason you have to restart the clip at the beginning)
Chinese Buffet
@pavlov. Thank you for the week without kids..the grandparents took them on vaca! Also thank you for the empty house to have nooky in as loudly as hubby and I want!
@mikibell ok, is this an ice cream cone crime again? ;-)
@mfladd no..this time there are only two ice cream cones involved 😜 ..
THANKS @PAVLOV. just thanks.
@pavlov also thanks for my new laptop. i sitll hate winders, but playing games on steam has been amusing.
Thanks @PAvlov for a great Father's Day
@Pavlov...thanks for my amazing daughter. Thank you also for sending same daughter away to camp for two weeks at the peak of her teenage charm.
Here we are again, @Pavlov. Fathers Day was yesterday and I meant to use that, but it was far more important to thank you for @MrsPavlov and your improving health. As @glindagw and @bludgeon have already done, I will take today to thank you for my 2 beautiful children (unless they look like you, in which case there will more than blame coming your way :) and a great Fathers Day They were so excited giving me the card they made for me. They are my life.
With that I am going to leave you with family friendly clips today to pass the time.
The first is props to all the amazing fathers here on Meh.
The next, I will also include the amazing mothers.
And one more classic clip, just because it is funny.
@pavlov thank you again for summer vacation and grandparents taking kids away with them..it has been sooooooo peaceful. We watched a movie that did not contain any animated characters!
Thanks, @pavlov for free HBO all weekend.
@Pavlov - it appears this thread is running on empty. But, I am still here Mr. Goat. I apologize I missed yesterday. Between getting the family ready for a vacation and not feeling well, I couldn't do it. Today, I will thank you for getting my wife and kids safely to New England for their vacation. First time my wife has driven herself and the kids that far alone - 8 hours - (I have work priorities and couldn't make it). So, I was concerned.
So what to leave you with today. There hasn't been much on TV so I watched some Community re-runs. Fuck you (yea, I said it) NBC for never giving this show it's due. Yahoo, thanks for bringing it back but it has never been the same.
I found a great trailer clip of two of my favorite episodes - Paint ball wars. (only a die hard Community might appreciate it, others might be like, meh.)
The two episodes I will post if they can remain up (sorry links was the best I could do):
Part 1: Modern Warfare:
Community.S01E23.hdtv.mp4.mp4 - 51.4 MB
Part 2: A Fist Full of Paintballs:

p.s. it's @narfcakes fault I missed yesterday - since he was kind enough to take on blame for you this month (again) while you are recuperating :)
l almost forgot Part 3 Fistfull of Paintballs (continued)
Community.S02E24.hdtv.mp4.mp4 - 66.1 MB
@Pavlov thanks for more nice weather so I could put three coats of wipe-on poly on the island countertop today. Just a couple more coats tomorrow and it will be done.
@Pavlov thanks for making sure the engagement ring and wedding band I ordered online got here in one piece and on time so I can propose tomorrow night :)
@JonT CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!! That's awesome! (p.s. I hope she doesn't read these threads)
@mfladd or say no ;P
Pre-Congrats @JonT
@JonT
@JonT
@JonT Make sure to come back and tell us about the proposal!
@Pavlov - while I have been coming here nightly and thanking you for things and leaving stupid shit to watch. I think we will wait till until we hear from @JonT on his impending engagement (which I know he will post here.)
I should of said "I", not "we". The more Thank you's the better
@JonT I expect an update after tonight. I hope it is perfect! :)
@pavlov - thanks for getting me the new job at work. I'm now a pretty important person, and I've been wanting this for years.
@Pamtha Congratulations! I'm sure you worked hard to get to this point, so pat yourself on the back and savor the moment!
@pavlov Thanks for all the recent good news in the meh community! Some of it is big (like engagements and promotions), and some of it is small (people reflecting on the good things in their lives), but all of it makes me smile. May your healing be swift, your absence short and your positive influence eternal.
Hey @Pavlov, thanks for making me dry heave so hard I popped blood vessels in my eyelid - it looks like I got punched by a tiny fist. But really, it was fun telling my husband that I was going to flinch whenever he looked at me in front of our server tonight.
It's our 5 year anniversary. We had a great meal. I didn't pretend he hit me, apparently, that's mean. ;)
@Thumperchick Congratulations on your 5th wedding anniversay!
@Thumperchick Geez, some people have no sense of humor. (Seriously, happy anniversary.)
@Thumperchick so glad you are feeling well enough to enjoy your anniversary dinner!
@Thumperchick Happy anniversary!
@mfladd @beachbum @mikibell @dashcloud - Thanks!
@Pavlov -- thank you for letting me understand almost 30% of what my high-pitched, squeaky voiced Godson said this past week. Who knew a 4 year old could talk so much?
@beachbum I laugh everytime I read this comment.. my son wasn't talking by the age of 2 -- not even simple words. We had Birth to 3 check him out, and his mouth muscles were underdeveloped. So after a few months of him drinking yogurt through a straw, he started talking. To this day, he hasn't shut up! There are times we wonder why we wanted him to talk at all! But little kids have sooo many ideas/questions swirling in those brains...wow
@pavlov Thank you, my kids are home! As much as I enjoyed time without them, I am so happy they are home. (check back with me in a week, I am sure I will feel less happy)
@Pavlov Thank you for letting the sun shine today. Seriously, it's rained so much this summer I'm ready to punch someone in the eye (so watch out @Thumperchick).
And because it didn't rain today, my kid actually got to play some baseball. So thanks @Pavlov for the triple and the inside-the-park homerun he hit today.
@pitamuffin Congrats to Muffin Jr.
@pitamuffin SweeeeeeeeeT!!!!!
@pavlov Thanks for the awesome party I went to today with my cousins, in spite of the rain, wind, and cold. We made the best of it, and spent lots of time outdoors.
@Pavlov I kinda took a mini-forum break and haven't been reading threads as much, but I hope your recovery continues to go well.
Thanks for a busy, but fun month. Within the past month and a half, both of my kids had birthdays (10 and 8) and completed the school year with straight As. My 10-year-old daughter had her first dance recital, which included four straight days of four-hour long shows. She was only on stage for a total of ~six minutes, but she still had fun. I survived it, which is what I'm most thankful for. Next month they'll both be going to camp for a week, so my husband is going to take a sickation so we can have some time together. I'm looking forward to that.
Also, typing all of this knowing you're still recovering makes me feel damn guilty. You and the missus are in my prayers.
@PurplePawprints Don't feel guilty. For all we know he is reading these and enjoying them (or he will later) You had a lot to be thankful for, so as a parent I will pick one (as we always put our kids first) - and that is your "sickation" with your husband. We, as parents don't usually get much of it - So enjoy every minute!
@Pavlov Thanks for making the proposal go even better than I could have hoped for, and of course for her saying yes :)
Best weekend of my life, we had a ton of fun and ate lots of great food. Super excited for the future :D
cc: @mfladd @Ignorant @Thumperchick @KDemo @dashcloud
@JonT congrats JonT!
@JonT Congrats!! When I proposed to my wife she said, "I have to pee!" She said yes after that, but there were definitely a few moments of concern.
@JonT Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy it went perfectly. But more details please. How did you do it? Those are the best stories. P.s next we will want to know about one of these ;)
@JonT CONGRATULATIONS! So very happy and excited for you both.
(Oh, and great job, @Pavlov)
@mfladd - I had to Google it. Clever.
@JonT Congratulations! You did a great job picking the ring. I bet she was thrilled with it and the proposal!
@JonT Aww, congratulations!!!
@mfladd no plans for little JonTs at all, but at the very least definitely not for many years. The way I proposed doesn't make a lot of sense without a lot of backstory, but long story short I took her to dinner at one of our favorite places, then to a bar we used to go to every week when we first started dating, and then took her to where we first met, had our first kiss, and first exchanged our 'I love yous', that place just happened to be the top of a parking garage. It was perfect and she loved it.
@JonT
@JonT thanks for sharing. It makes perfect sense and sounds that it was very intimate. Congrats again!
@JonT Oh so sentimental. Perfect!
Can't wait to see the wedding live stream. ;-)
@JonT Wishing you and your blushing bride-to-be extreme amounts of happiness for at least the first hundred years!
@JonT yay good job @JonT !!! I am not sure if I was more nervous asking my now fiance or asking her parents. Both involved heavy pre-engagement vomit swallowing. Sexy.
Thanks @pavlov for not letting the 4 fires last week burn my house down. 4 days of different fires and only one person's house burned down. Thanks Pavlov.
@Pavlov Thank you for being an awesome GOAT this month even if most of it has been 'in absentia'. You created a great contest, and have awarded the greatest prize ever - domain names!
This site dedicated to you has allowed so many people to express all that is good in their lives - no matter how large or small they may be. In an internet forum world where so much of it is negative this thread has allowed to share the positive with you, and each other.
You have set a new standard for the GOAT that will be hard to follow.
We miss you, and wish you a speedy recovery so that you may return to Meh. soon - we will be waiting.
p.s. Thank you for Mrs. Pavlov! (she's awesome).
Thanks, @Pavlov for uniting this community in concern for your recovery. Hurry back, we'll leave the light on for you.
