Other than color, LEDs are pretty much better in every way. They are getting better all the time and except for color already beat incandescent most of the time, and CFL's 99.99% of the time.
I love them as replacement bulbs for the ceiling fans and other fixtures...prefer incandescent except having to change them all the time. I love them for flashlights but not so much for working on things
To end up with a LED bulb you are going to love follow these rules 1. Buy name brand CREE, philips, GE, Sylvania 2. Color temp 2700k = warm white and 5000k = cool white 3. (CRI) Color Rendering Index; over 80 minimum 4. "Brightness" i.e. Lumens; 40W incandescent at least 450 lumen LED, 60W incandescent at least 800 lumen LED, 75W incandescent at least 1100 lumen LED, 100 incandescent at least 1600 lumen LED
the only issues with are price and light quality .
my dad bought over 40 $2 leds 50w equivalents, but they are yellow

Yea, I have seen that before, although it is usually caused by a cheap powersupply driving the LEDs.
