Laissez les bons temps rouler!
4Mardi Gras 2017 is Tuesday, February 28.
I should go this year for personal symbolic reasons.
Never been.
No plans to go. Sigh. Fucking life!
Let the good times roll!

I like Mardi Gras at home, a good meal and laughter with friends. I prefer to enjoy New Orleans outside the debauched rampage that is Mardi Gras. I don’t like crowds, and when I am in one I prefer it to be fully inhibited. Maybe if I had a room with a balcony overlooking the event and room service I’d go. But New Orleans is such a lovely place with so much to offer, and the French Quarter is always there with loud music, great food and plenty of drunken revelry if you want a taste of Mardi Gras.

If I had a group of friends - or better yet friends who live there - I’d go. On the cheap. Sleep on the floor, who the hell cares?
I don’t mind crowds per se. If you can move thru them. Esp if there’s no “one place to be”. Huge street parties are cool.
I mind being the trapped in crowds tho.
@f00l Bourbon Street during the Mardi Gras season is the best example of being trapped in a crowd I’ve ever lived. There were times I could have picked my feet up off the ground and not fallen down, and I had very little control over where I was going. I got separated from my group and spit out on a side street in the days before everyone had cell phones. I got to see a scene being filmed that I later saw on a Girls Gone Wild commercial, and I eventually got back together with my people. But I’m ok with never doing that again.

I don’t think I’d head for Bourbon Street if I were there. Something a little less obvious.
If you know people, the party is city-wide.
