@goldbond63 Yes - I bought 2- from Target - took advantage of their price match with Walmart - that was after I bought 2 UP's from Staples for the same price... I had to return the Staples purchase- UP's are crap - UP24's are actually pretty cool
@Headly Actually, yes, my phone has a dedicated pedometer. And if yours doesn't, you can use the accelerometer, though it is less sensitive. Re: sleep, again using the accelerometer, your phone can track your movements throughout the night. So... yeah, to an extent, a phone can do these things, and more.
My wife recent purchased the Jawbone UP24 and I've gotta say, bluetooth compatibility sure is more convenient than the 3.5mm jack. The immediate syncing is definitely a nice touch. The software is neat but the whole idea of fitness tracking bracelets seems to more of a novelty to me.
@jc283 ... and that longevity would be nicely compatible with meh's claims for its functionally useful time line: "If the impact of the Apple Watch doesn't kill it, the dust cloud of Apple Watch imitators will."
@jc283 went through four in a year. Their returns department dutifully took them back, but... it was too much of a hassle. I take good care of my tech. It's unfortunate; I really liked their smart alarm.
@jc283 Fantastic support, terrible build quality. I tried everything that was suggested on the forums - I didn't let my band die, I didn't shower with it, I took it off when I wasn't moving, etc. etc. Band dies in about 3 months and then it's onto looking for a return
@Lera The sleep thing is what interests me as well. I can pay attention to what I eat and what activity I do during the day. No so for sleep. It would be interesting to see how long it takes to fall asleep, how deeply I sleep, perhaps even if I'm sleeping too long on the weekends. Too bad the reviews suggest limited longevity for these devices.
I have the fitbit flex - wear it every day. If I didn't already have one I might give this a shot as cheap as it is - and if it does die in less than 6 months as mentioned above.... 1 year warranty - right?
I have one of these. Its sitting in a bowl on my kitchen counter. It has been sent in for repairs three times now. One really annoying non-feature is that it does not sync via blue tooth! Jawbone, really?! I finally gave Up...
I've got a baby on the way, and I want a zero-effort way to track just how much sleep I'm *actually *getting. I get the impression that this is not the way to go.
I returned 2 of these that I bought from Staples today. These are not wireless. Skip the android app. Found the UP24 from walmart for $49 - and price matched at target.
You can get smart watches for $40 that tell time, act as speaker phone, have caller id, Vibrate alert you for different phone events... etc... of course they require you leaving bluetooth on... but they do so much more... for about the same price.
I had one (make that 4) of these. This model was the first -- you need to physically plug it in the phone's audio port to sync it, which is kind of a pain in the ass. Eventually it stopped working and Jawbone replaced it under warranty. Then the up24 came out which allowed syncing via Bluetooth. Much more convenient. Sold my current one on eBay. Unfortunately, this one also broke in a few months. Again, Jawbone warranty replaced it, and the replacement went directly onto eBay.
I like: - Software is amongst the best for tracking activity, sleep and diet - A really great form factor. I see no reason to have anything more bulky that this on your arm while excercising
I don't like: - Manually syncing the device - Clear quality/durability issues with it
I'm meh on this, but it might make a good stocking stuffer at this price.
@atg284 Have a garmin step tracker that i love for all day. can use a heart strap if the user wishes. Data exportable to the usual sites. Battery needs to be replaced after 1+ years, no charging. For exercise i have a garmin watch w gps, heart, pace, the usual stuff. I predict the apple watch will be gorgeous and easy to use and overpriced as usual. But for fitness? Im sure it will step-count. But for real fitness use, dunno. Most companies who do well in the wearable health/fitness market have decades of experience in the fitness/medical markets. Accurate recording of biological responses beyond steps and heart rate isnt easy, even for apple or google or samsung. Im sticking w garmin/polar/suunto/timex/bodymedia etc until the tech giants prove themselves. Also optical hrm straps can be as annoying as chest straps and less accurate (have tried several). This is a diificult area still in beta. Apple wont just step into the market and take over. If u want a good step counter stick w garmin/polar/fitbit etc for now. Or if you want a great exercise watch stick w proven tech for now. Older garmins timexes polars need not collapse a budget and work just fine.
Really cool app but the hardware quality is just not there. I'm wearing at least the 10th replacement UP band since the December 2012 relaunch. No doubt Jawbone has stood behind the product, just be prepared to go through what I have – a warranty swap every 45-70 days.

It is baby arm compatible but no one in my house exercises. @Barney likes purple!
@Twiggy115 @Barney, "Loves" Purple....
I love purple.
@mediocrebot i wouldn't buy this even with @snapster 's $$ ... meh on you
Hmm, price is nice but reviews are so so...
Edit: Reviews are Meh to the 10th power.
@Stallion I was all ready to argue with your first sentence, but your second sentence is both accurate and poetic.
@Stallion epically bad reviews!
No heart rate tracking, no care.
Is that guy missing a thumb?
Woo hoo, baby arm! Yeah! For that alone I might buy it.
@heartny I would pay extra for the baby arm if it came without the UP
Didn't everyone just buy the Up24 last week at Walmart for $49.97?
@goldbond63 No, because these things are almost as dumb as the balance bands. :p
@goldbond63 Yes - I bought 2- from Target - took advantage of their price match with Walmart - that was after I bought 2 UP's from Staples for the same price... I had to return the Staples purchase- UP's are crap - UP24's are actually pretty cool
Really more of a FAIL then a meh, IMO. Everything this can do, my phone can do, so I don't see the point.
@Fen_Star your phone has a step counter? Can your phone track your sleep?
@Headly Actually, yes, my phone has a dedicated pedometer. And if yours doesn't, you can use the accelerometer, though it is less sensitive. Re: sleep, again using the accelerometer, your phone can track your movements throughout the night. So... yeah, to an extent, a phone can do these things, and more.
I had one of these. It was meh. I returned it. But maybe for $35 I'd have kept it. Waiting fo Apple watch at this point.
Just what I need: something to remind me exactly how unhealthy and inactive I really am. Meh.
@lumpthar Said by the person whose user name starts with 'lump.'
@Cinoclav I am Lumpthar of the Lumpy People.
Lots of reviews on Amazon that says this thing dies in 6 months or less.
@jc283 mostly "less"...
@jc283 ... and that longevity would be nicely compatible with meh's claims for its functionally useful time line: "If the impact of the Apple Watch doesn't kill it, the dust cloud of Apple Watch imitators will."
@jc283 went through four in a year. Their returns department dutifully took them back, but... it was too much of a hassle. I take good care of my tech. It's unfortunate; I really liked their smart alarm.
@jc283 mine lasted less than 2.
@jc283 Fantastic support, terrible build quality. I tried everything that was suggested on the forums - I didn't let my band die, I didn't shower with it, I took it off when I wasn't moving, etc. etc. Band dies in about 3 months and then it's onto looking for a return
I like this for the sleep tracking-- a thing I've been meaning to try. I'd go for the bluetooth version if you sold it, Meh.
@Lera The sleep thing is what interests me as well. I can pay attention to what I eat and what activity I do during the day. No so for sleep. It would be interesting to see how long it takes to fall asleep, how deeply I sleep, perhaps even if I'm sleeping too long on the weekends. Dammit, just purchased a fitbit to give for Christmas. Quality aside, I wouldn't have minded saving $50...meh.
$30-$35 shipped on ebay NIB.
I have the fitbit flex - wear it every day. If I didn't already have one I might give this a shot as cheap as it is - and if it does die in less than 6 months as mentioned above.... 1 year warranty - right?
@ilovereality The issue is that when you're trying to track your life, 2-3 weeks stretches of not having the band are irritating, to say the least
I have one of these. Its sitting in a bowl on my kitchen counter. It has been sent in for repairs three times now. One really annoying non-feature is that it does not sync via blue tooth! Jawbone, really?! I finally gave Up...
now i'll be able to prove to my captain that i've been working hard scrubbing the deck!
Why is Virginia popping for this so enthusiastically?
Could it be their eastern corner did something this week about which they're not so proud and they're feeling the need to work it off?
@RedOak I live in the eastern Virginia and I don't get this one.
@Pat4ever I think he means NoVA.
Eh, I've been curious/disturbed by my sleep habits for years. Perhaps this will give some insights… I'll throw a bone.
offhand-vengeful-zinc
@haydesigner I found that the sleep tracking was kinda iffy but it worked reasonably well. The sleep alarm was nice to wake up with.
I've got a baby on the way, and I want a zero-effort way to track just how much sleep I'm *actually *getting. I get the impression that this is not the way to go.
@wmgobuffs you don't need a tracker, the answer will be 0. 0 sleep.
I returned 2 of these that I bought from Staples today. These are not wireless. Skip the android app. Found the UP24 from walmart for $49 - and price matched at target.
thanks @lisaviolet for the dated fitness bands you are the gr8est
@sp3ar You're very welcome.
일단 샀어요...ㅎㅎ ㅜㅜ
@sherryblue2 검토 어떻게 하셨나요 ? 고민되네요. 블투 백업이 어떨까 싶네요.

*this is my first meh.com post. Yay me.
@ACraigL
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
I love purple.
@jrwofuga That's my boy!
apple watch doesn't even exist on the market yet. It should read: Thanks all the other smart watches that are out already!"
Side note: the apple watch looks ugly as sin.

Saw it today at Costco for $49, however don't know if t was the same model

AT&T has the UP24 for $99. http://m.att.com/shopmobile/wearables/health-and-fitness/jawbone-up24-wireless-activity-tracker/_jcr_content.html?source=ECtw00ADP0000002S&wtExtndSource=UP24&sf34596816=1&referrer=http%253A%2F%2Ft.co%2FrQ60183TFb
Finally got mine today and I'm pretty sure its busted out of the box. Has anyone ever had luck getting jawbone to replace it with an up24?
@aggie11 I've heard that they readily and easily replace it with another UP, but I haven't heard of anyone getting an UP24 for the older model.

@kittymong @jont @whoever is a mod. Spammer, much? All they post is stuff related to their Amazon username if you look at the history.
@juststephen Let them fall to ignoring ears, I say.
