@SnakeJG I got a projection screen and a black puffer jacket about four sizes too small for me and a lip balm and the IRK bag, that’s it. I’m ready for more mediocrity!
Glad I set an alarm, dozed back to
sleep and alarm warned me of the next
item. Didn’t even have to pick any
photos to prove I wasn’t a robot!

@ironcheftoni They are making it so difficult for us. You would think it would be a slam dunk as we have had birds for about 35 years, give them lots of attention and freedom, but no-we are the ones who seem to be under the microscope. They seem to be pushing us to take birds that are less adoptable rather than the ones we would like. We are going to give them a little more rope to do right by us and if not tell them it shouldn’t be this difficult to give a bird a forever home which he will love.
@Kyeh@Lynnerizer Going out to the rescue place again on Wed. Think cockatoos are off the table as far as adopting since we saw difficult they are to handle when the don’t listen as Goofy didn’t. They have a pair of green cheek conures (male and female) that may be of interest to us given their size and their age.
The owner is going to be there then and if we get the impression they are trying to steer up to one particular bird or if for some reason they won’t let us adopt one bird we expressed an interest in-we are going to walk. It shouldn’t be this difficult to give a rescue bird a forever home to people who will give it a lot of love attention and freedom.
@Felton10@Kyeh
I’m thinking you guys should go with a baby bird of your choice, meaning kind/breed. It’s not like you haven’t given the rescue a good shot and like you said, it shouldn’t be that hard for you to adopt! It’s crazy how over protective some of those places are. They made my niece jump through hoops for a kitten or cat. The girl runs her own horse farm and is boarding 13 horses at the moment plus her 2 dogs that are always by her side. It’s crazy to think she can’t or wouldn’t be able to care for a cat! It’s frustrating for sure!
Good luck with your quest looking for your new feathered friend!
@Kyeh@Lynnerizer@ironcheftoni We went out there yesterday and met with the owner who is really some sort of “bird whisperer” because when she talks to the birds they seem to listen and she seems to know what they are thinking due to their body language. We told her that a bigger cockatoo who didn’t listen kind of scared us and she directly us to a smaller sulphur crested one named “snowflake”. He came out of his cage which showed he was interested in us although she couldn’t tell if he wanted to bite me or make friends, but he did let me stroke his tail which was a good sign. We go back next week for a one on one with him.
@ironcheftoni@Kyeh@Lynnerizer Not my choice either but she said not to change his name as after 20 years he knows it-could use a nickname though. We used to call Walter fluffball.
@Felton10@ironcheftoni@Kyeh
I was going to ask his age, 20 years old, young whipper snapper! Haven’t heard that expression in a while, I’m still smiling!
He’s definitely a beautiful bird, good luck with your one on one! IDK how you can not go to the rescue everyday but then again I tend to be obsessive!
@ironcheftoni@Kyeh@Lynnerizer The bird was a little younger than Walter evidently. The rescue place is less than 5 miles from our house so it isn’t really time consuming to go there. But we had already made up our mind that if we felt we were getting the run around or not moving in the right direction, it would be our last visit there. But since we dealt with the owner rather than a volunteer, it seemed to go better this time with a clear path forward.
Just received my IRK today, everything is new and clean.

My first IRK was extremely disappointing, looking forward to more regret with this one.

@Felton10 Sorry for your loss.
Birds are the best. Good luck today.
@Felton10

@Felton10 RIP Walter.
@Felton10 I’m so glad there is a bird adoption organization near you. Adopt, don’t shop!
@ironcheftoni They are making it so difficult for us. @Felton10
How is the search going? Last I saw you were thinking about going with the cockatiel, did you get him yet?
@Felton10 @Lynnerizer He said in the blame thread that the rescue is making it difficult for them to adopt that cockatoo.
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer Going out to the rescue place again on Wed. Think cockatoos are off the table as far as adopting since we saw difficult they are to handle when the don’t listen as Goofy didn’t. @Felton10 @Kyeh @Lynnerizer aww! All the feels!!! I hope this one works out for you. But unless he answers by it, the name has got to go!
@Felton10 @ironcheftoni @Lynnerizer Oh, he’s a handsome fellow - I hope this time it’s a success!
@ironcheftoni @Kyeh @Lynnerizer Not my choice either but she said not to change his name as after 20 years he knows it-could use a nickname though. We used to call Walter fluffball.
@Felton10 @ironcheftoni @Lynnerizer There ya go - all pets end up with nicknames, I think!
“Snowball?”
@Felton10 @Kyeh @Lynnerizer 20 years old, he’s just a young whipper snapper of a bird!
