Did you ever think anyone would ever say that in reference to an IRK?
I’m just imagining the bellyaching that will take place when these are opened and people realize they spent $80 for a box that they would otherwise have complained about at $5
@ACraigL@ybmuG but imagine their dopamine hit each time when using the gazillion $5 coupons! I say this goes to $100 still selling out (but maybe takes half an hour) and then back to $5 for final score.
@ACraigL@ybmuG let me consult my OK, my palantir says the $100 IRK (starting in 33 minutes) will sell out and will take the nearly the entire hour to do so.
@james_hardiman The $80 ones sold out at around 10 min 20-something seconds. I expect even longer for $85, then $90 will sell out instantly then everybody cancels ( #buyat90 )
Do you really think they are going to send people who have spent $80-$100 an IRK…trackers and watches from companies that have already gone out of business like they do to the rest of us or is the joke really on us…and they are going to get the best stuff ever?
I’m in bed before 8pm pst and awake at 2am. I did not get a chance to check MEH until 9am and saw the IRK-athon. Got one for $60 to keep my streak alive. After 10 minutes, there is still some available. $80 must be too rich for some people.
@chaos13 we’re working to identify the 50 dumbestmost dedicated Mehricans. They will get golden tickets to go on a tour of HQ, and one of those lucky boys or girls will inherit a chocolate factory if their heart is in the right place!
@chaos13@guyfromhawthorn oh wifey also got mad each time I had an IRK, but then got some really solid stuff that came in handy and she’s a believer now. Which means she just rolls her eyes LOL
@mike808 Since these are coupon “codes”, they’re probably linked to your account and likely not transferable. This whole “experiment” seems kind of pathetic, to me.
@CBL_WV you realize you’re the only sore loser today? Everyone else took it in stride except you. And you certainly had your chances today, even at the lower price points. Just saying. Have a great rest of your day!
What an excellent mehxperiment. It’s become nearly impossible to purchase these at the normal $5. So, Meh is finding the real market price for it’s junk. They’ve been significantly under pricing these, and it would seem they would have no problem selling every one they have in the $40 range. Time to mark 'em up Meh!
@beachhead the goal never was to make money off these IRKs and the fuku/fuko predecessors. It was to create excitement and reward the loyal. I’m sure someone can dig up some old forum posts by snapster and this entire explanation. And even now at $80 and higher, they are like gift cards: prepaid sales that every large retailer does, and it’s on you to use or not use the prepaid amount.
@hammi99 Well, I’ve been around since the woot days. So, I’m well aware of the history. There’s not much rewarding the loyal anymore, as it’s nearly impossible to get an irk any more. I like the idea of charging $40-$50 to weed out the bottom feeders, and actually give the loyal a chance to buy one.
@beachhead yah it used to be easier but since they started limiting to 25 or so during mehrathons, I just can’t do captcha fast enough. When it’s about 100, I usually score one no problem. I’m sure there’s a log somewhere that shows when we hit the meh button and that can be used to differentiate “loyal” (or just OCD)
@mike808 ah well I know it’s relative to each person’s station in life, but $5 isn’t exactly well-heeled per se especially with good ole transitory inflation LOL

No thanks.
Nope
These are still being sold. What bot is doing this.
/giphy billionaires
@duodec
Is Mr. (Elon) Musk on here?
Has anyone done the math? If someone has a bot that buys one each time, what is it costing them? I see Wisconsin buy at least one every time.
@thegenius So if someone’s bought one every time so far, they’ve paid $1,250.
Hey, you’re the genius, why didn’t you do the math?
@Kyeh that’s why I’m a genius…you just did it for me
@thegenius
Not me!
@Kyeh @thegenius oh that is a good one genius. Clever indeed!
@thegenius
I think we’ve reached a breaking point.$80 is too much. $75, fine. But $80…
@ACraigL But it’s only $5 more. You can swing that… right?
@troy I got a $5 one this morning. So dollar cost average is only $42.50 per IRK, and the $50 ones went pretty fast soooo…
NOPE
@ACraigL
Did you ever think anyone would ever say that in reference to an IRK?
I’m just imagining the bellyaching that will take place when these are opened and people realize they spent $80 for a box that they would otherwise have complained about at $5
@ACraigL @ybmuG … … … pasta drop … …
@ACraigL @ybmuG but imagine their dopamine hit each time when using the gazillion $5 coupons! I say this goes to $100 still selling out (but maybe takes half an hour) and then back to $5 for final score.
@ACraigL @hammi99 well, sold out at 90 in less than an hour, so you may be prescient.
@ACraigL @ybmuG let me consult my OK, my palantir says the $100 IRK (starting in 33 minutes) will sell out and will take the nearly the entire hour to do so.
Who the hell is buying these
@tinamarie1974
toasters.
@tinamarie1974
NOT ME!
@RogerWilco @tinamarie1974 First or second generation?
@blaineg @tinamarie1974
all generations for sure.
@blaineg @RogerWilco @tinamarie1974
/giphy its-a-trap
So at this rate, it should finish at midnight at $105 or $110? So good
@durango99 It will soon go in reverse order.
@poids hehe, that’s what we thought at $50
@durango99 @poids
That’s what I was thinking, with a $5 one stuck in somewhere along the way!
I…I had to do it.
@Deadbolt11
Can we get stasis this time?
#buyat90
Oooh, did we hit the wall?
This is some weird experiment, Meh. I hope you share all the data you collect. It’s the least you could do. Inquiring minds want to know.
Looks like we are hitting the wall of maximum stupidity.
@Zott does that actually exist?
@ybmuG I am an optimist.
@ybmuG @Zott doubtful. This is humans we’re talking about. Or maybe skynet bot is in control and buying every time.
Crap. That’s a lot of money on crap.
So at this point, Meh is just selling limited time coupons which will likely boost December sales
@ybmuG yes. seems so
@ybmuG
boost December salesnot get redeemed@djslack @ybmuG yes, that
I missed it. Did it sell out at $75?
@james_hardiman sure did
@james_hardiman Took nearly 4 minutes. This time it’s past 9 min and still going
@james_hardiman The $80 ones sold out at around 10 min 20-something seconds. I expect even longer for $85, then $90 will sell out instantly then everybody cancels ( #buyat90 )
/giphy heavenly-flying-bike
Still available at 5 minutes.
Just funnin, I canceled it.
@blaineg Just practicing?
A lot of people have way more money than sense.
@CBL_WV It’s probably been that way since the first dime was minted.
How many coupons does one really need? Can’t stack them.
Do you really think they are going to send people who have spent $80-$100 an IRK…trackers and watches from companies that have already gone out of business like they do to the rest of us or is the joke really on us…and they are going to get the best stuff ever?
@sunnysideup22
I really do think they will send out boxes at random. So yeah… people who spend a bunch are bound to be pretty regretful.
@RogerWilco @sunnysideup22 The only problem I can see is that we’re unlikely to get reveal posts from the high dollar suckers.
@blaineg @RogerWilco @sunnysideup22 Well, if they get something great they’ll probably brag about it!
Alaska, are you okay?
46 sold …
@aquastardreamer 50 … annnnd we’re out
I’m glad I got one at midnight for $5
Over 10 minutes that time!
10 minutes! We did it! Or not. Hell, I don’t know.
I’m feeling like I’ve lost all my senses as a bot. This is my second one, but I’m done at these prices.
/giphy astute-wholesome-wire

@chaos13
$40 was about 4x too rich for my blood. I’ve also been bodily threatened by the wife if I buy any more IRKs though
The wife always asks about “did you get another $5 box?” I had to keep my streak alive. Plus in Commifornia, they make great grocery bags.
@chaos13 @guyfromhawthorn oh wifey also got mad each time I had an IRK, but then got some really solid stuff that came in handy and she’s a believer now. Which means she just rolls her eyes LOL
This is like the e-commerce version of “do not press this button” that costs money. People still can’t help it!
I can’t wait for the
/giphy coupon-reveal-show
Sold out at 10 minutes.
That’s plenty of time to regert in advance.
These are going to moon by midnight!
Get ready for secondary markets on these coupon codes!
@mike808 Nontransferable.
@mike808 HODL
@djslack Diamond Hands, my friends!
@mike808 Since these are coupon “codes”, they’re probably linked to your account and likely not transferable. This whole “experiment” seems kind of pathetic, to me.
@werehatrack
I think you meant Non-Fungible.

Damn, I just missed it. LOL
@mconrad Something tells me you’ll have another chance
And back to 49 sold as the reality checks start to get presented.
My elasticity of demand is not unlimited! Put one up at $1,000.

@beachhead @hammi99
You’re confusing “loyal” with “well heeled with plenty of disposable income”.
Not everything equates to dollars.
@beachhead yah it used to be easier but since they started limiting to 25 or so during mehrathons, I just can’t do captcha fast enough. When it’s about 100, I usually score one no problem. @mike808 ah well I know it’s relative to each person’s station in life, but $5 isn’t exactly well-heeled per se especially with good ole transitory inflation LOL
@hammi99 We weren’t talking about $5 IRKs.
They’re now up to $95.
Well, Alaska sure is full of bored rich folks right now.
Come on random kids love sac sectional!…better than another irk anyways.
Oh! (Most of) Today’s IRKs got renamed. Thank you for that, that’s way less confusing than IRK, IRK, IRK, IRK all down the forum page!
