When your dad asks what his intentions are the first time they meet and he replies to marry me, that’s a huge weird situation right then and there. Granted, he was sleeping over, but still.🫣
My mom just kept trying to catch us he having sex. we were not married and doing it under her roof apparently made her look bad to her God or something. What can I say… I’m exactly the heathen she raised me to be.
@sicc574 on another medium, I’ve got some raunchy friends who showed us a little pious poem about “having premarital sex was like shedding a flower petal, don’t leave your stem bare on your wedding night” - they immediately followed up that they were the same person as a kid and tried to see how many petals could fall off before anyone would notice.
They already knew each other, so the only awkwardness is that nobody expected us to get together. But they thought he was better than the previous ones.
My parents were always a nightmare to take anyone home to. Thankfully I’ve been with my now wife for 25 years, so a long time since I took anyone home.
They met very few of my girlfriends because they were so awful.
My parents were pretty crappy, so it was absolutely awkward.
My dad is like a kid who never grew up, so very immature or rude, and if he wasn’t being childish then he was emotionally disconnected and uninvolved / unconcerned about anything happening in my life.
My mom was super controlling and fueled by religion/purity culture, social norms, and wanted to live vicariously through me.
Anyway, that was all 15-20 years ago, and I don’t have to worry about them anymore. My husband is awesome and my parents suck for never being supportive.
First time my parents met my wife-to-be (1977) we had ridden her Yamaha XS-400 from Boulder COo to St. Louis MO. (we were both , ahem, thinner then…)
Knocked on the door and Mom threw it open, kissed me on both cheeks and started speaking French to me. Flipped my future bride out! Guess I forgot to mention my heritage.
(As an aside, when I met HER dad (ex-Army and I was a long hair who got a haircut on the way to see him for the first time) we spent a few days in Columbus GA with him. When we left he told her he didn’t know where she had found me but if she screwed up they were keeping ME).
Hey my Mom & Dad was happy any young lady would be attracted to me!

Good luck
@Star2236
Thanks! It went well
They love him so it went great
Significant other? What’s that?
It was weird when my aunt wouldn’t stop asking about the other guy I used to date.
After 20 years with me, my spouse just recently called my dad by his first name and was super anxious about it.

PANS! GLANDS! CRAYONS! AWESOME!
My father was blind and casually racist, so not bringing anyone to see him. I had trouble keeping others away whenever he would go out for a stroll.
