I'm taking banjo lessons
8This isn’t the setup to some hillbilly joke. My first banjo should be delivered on Sunday (traditionally the day of deliverance), and I start lessons on Thursday. My goal is to be able to fake my way through a folk song or two by the end of October. Suggested tunes?

also, Wildwood Flower is always a good banjo tune
Congratulations, you’ve brought back memories of my dad repeatedly trying to play the first 8 or so bars of the Flintstones theme before eventually giving up. Thing was loud, too. He shoved an old t-shirt into the drum and my mom still made him practice outside on the back patio.
@harrison Thanks, I’m going to use this one at bed times.
Probably not what you’re looking for, but “Ballroom Blitz” is surprisingly easy to play on the banjo.
I’ve heard ‘Cripple Creek’ is an achievable beginner song
YEAH for noise that means to be music someday!

@Pavlov Same guitar as the one the guy in Nirvana played.
Foggy Mountain Break Down
@0Wise1 Steve Martin is the only banjo player to ever play that song. ever.

I started playing mandolin about a year ago and found several great sites with free mando tablature. I hadn’t yet learned to read music, so the tabs were really helpful.
Here are three good sites that have free banjo tabs . . .
