I’m Sexy and I Throw It
24OK maybe not the first part, but I joined an axe throwing league. Every Tuesday I get to throw an axe at a target. I’m terrible at it but every once in a while instead of noisily clattering to the ground the axe sticks in the wood with a satisfying thunk. And the people are super nice.
WE GET TO THROW KNIVES TOO!
Anyone in an axe league? Soccer league? Volleyball league? Any type of league?

I’m in a league of my own. It’s out of your league.
@ExtraMedium your league is 3.2xs cooler than my league
Ultimate (frisbee) league

@compunaut My daughter planned on doing that in school before shit happened. I hope she gets to this year.
@sammydog01 High school or college?
@compunaut College intramurals. She played a lot of sports including Battleships which involves canoes, a pool, and frisbees. Frisbee is spring and didn’t happen the last two years.

@ybmuG I was invited to join that. Meh; haven’t made up my mind yet.
@ybmuG Another underrated Connery film.
RIP, Sir Sean.
@mike808 @ybmuG Peta Wilson!!
That’s awesome! We have an axe throwing spot in OC but it’s spendy. I really want to have a go though because it looks like a blast!
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
@mediocrebot My place too but the league is a lot cheaper. Which is cool.
@mediocrebot oh come on! You know how I feel about the bloody ground squirrels!!!
@mediocrebot @sammydog01 I should probably look into whether there’s a league here. That would be some serious therapy that I could use pretty terribly!
I’m in a laser beam league.

@sillyheathen Sign me up!
I am not in any league but now that the noisy coworkers are back I have some practice targets you can use.
Good for you
I once had an instruction session in knife throwing and it was awesome (yea bot, I’m’a gonna aim it at you)

WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
Bowling!

@chuegen I bowled in a league once. It was stressful. Maybe I’ve mellowed with age.
@sammydog01 Different leagues have different characters. I maintain the machines (pinsetters, etc.) at our local bowling alley and I bowled on three different league nights there. Some leagues are dead serious and can be stressful - but other leagues (looking at you, Thursday night mixed!) are an incredibly fun drinking-fest with a bit of bowling fun mixed in.

I understand that the League of Axe Catchers has plenty of openings, not to mention gashes, slashes and cuts both nasty and shallow as well as long, deep, and often. They’re always looking for new hands… fingers… arms… legs and other assorted body parts.
Dues must be paid in advance.
Pool league
I’m the captain of an 8-ball team. We have league playoffs this weekend.
We will be battling out to win a trip to the Nationals in Vegas
@lonocat
/giphy good luck!
@lonocat @sammydog01 awww I spent a month with Morgan and he’s amazeballs.
@lonocat @sillyheathen Story time?
@lonocat @sammydog01 I used to work in hospitality management when I was young and interesting and he stayed at the hotel of my employment when he was filming in Portland. Actually I think he stayed for 90 days. Anywho I became friends with his PA and actually wound up talking to him pretty regularly. He was a super nice guy. Invited me to Sunday brunch at the restaurant in the hotel once but of course I couldn’t accept because I was working. I actually almost got fired for having coffee with his assistant, him and two of their friends. Thankfully Mr Freeman had a rather stern conversation with him after I told his assistant what happened. He actually sent me flowers and a bottle of wine when he left. Super cool guy.
@lonocat @sillyheathen That’s so cool! He seems like a nice guy. Have you seen The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard? He’s not in it for long but steals the scenes.
@sammydog01 @sillyheathen started with 24 teams, we are one of the six left. Unfortunately we are one the losers side. Double elimination,
I started hanging out with a drone racing league, then as I started getting all the right stuff to start doing it some things happened that made me unable to do it (and then 2020 happened after that). Hopefully when it starts back up I’ll be able to go back to it, and hopefully my stuff won’t all be obsolete. And hopefully I will still know some of the people, too.
@djslack How does it work? Obstacle course?
@sammydog01 yeah, they have gates to go through and flags to go around. It’s sometimes hard to even see, but they would walk the course first so the pilots knew what they were getting into.
Here’s a set of pilot’s eye views that look similar to what was going on here. In person there would be a TV with exactly this on it to watch the action.
@djslack That looks fun it I would be buying a new drone every week after smashing it up. I would love a video if you ever do join.
@djslack @sammydog01 DCL on steam is a fun way to get started without risking an actual drone.
Human League?

Annie Lennox is in a league of her own.
Best comment:
The videos of her Nostalgia album tour performances were recorded at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, btw. Would have loved to have seen her there at that storied venue.

@mike808 Here’s the actual video of Annie Lennox.

@Fuzzalini Yeah, the only place that has it is dailymotion. YouTube was easier and Meh embeds YT, not DM. I skip the whole Hosier part. She puts a spell on me…
In my younger days I was in a foosball league. It was a lot of fun.
I was in a league of ordinary gentlemen. Well kind of… We had too many members so I was an extra.
I would love to throw stuff at stuff. That sounds like a lot of fun. I should look into it in my area, maybe I’d be good (probably not) but you never know.
My friends and I used to live at the bar and I used to be really good at pool and darts but it’s been so long since I’ve played either.
I plan corporate meetings and one client let me go wild with their networking reception. Axe throwing and mechanical bull rides along with an open bar and tequila tasting…what could possibly go wrong? thankfully, all went smoothly
