I scored a Bag of Crap today at the ol’ w00t! site. They don’t use Captcha and seem to be getting along just fine. They weren’t concerned if I was a robot or not…oh wait…maybe I am a robot.
These days, Woot BoCs are more like those $10/month subscription boxes, only for less valuable random stuff. (Not that I don’t still buy them sometimes.)
@walarney However, I’ve had really good luck with Yugster’s junk boxes. And every time I’ve gotten one, they’ve been relatively crappy but also worth what I paid for them. As a matter of fact I am playing with a refurbished Parrot mini drone right now… torturing my cats (that I am not going to skin.)
Woot’s method is to sell so many bags the bots can all buy some and there are still plenty left over for real people. People just don’t want to spend time setting up accounts/bots and spending $10 for crap.
@medz I’m not sure I see much difference in Woots BOC offerings and the Meh Fuko offerings. Quantities I’m sure are different but I personally am challenged by finding the sale quantities of either.
Woot sells thousands of BOCs during a wootoff. anywhere from 3000 to 6000 on a typical wootoff up to 10000 for a special occasion.
Back in the day, woot craps where $1 each and you had to pay $5 shipping. You should always buy 3 to bring your total to $8 with no tax. Quantities were much lower and they were all sold in a single offering. Now on woot, The thousands are spread-out the day in smaller batches and they are $5 plus $5 shipping plus tax. It got so bad with people buying multiple BOCs throughout the wootoff, they had to restrict it to 1 per week. I THINK the all-day $5 wootoff shipping works for BOCs, but I’m not sure.
Due to the larger quantities, higher price, and weekly restriction, bots aren’t as much of an issue for woot. Meh fukos, on the other hand, are very limited and are the new hotness. Recaptcha is necessary to prevent bots from auto-buying them all.

Wow, this is one of the most sophisticated robots I have seen to date.

@walarney TBH I would sign up for a $10/mo Crap Crate from Woot or Fuku Box from Meh.

@Stumpy91 It appears the 4 Fuko offerings on 09/18/2017, meh sold a total of 738 fukobukuros.

@medz A total of 746 yesterday, actually.
The use of buying bots has been reduced a lot because Woot has inserted “crap” in other item titles just to fuck with them.
@narfcake Really? I thought 2500 was the new standard.
What do bots actually do with crap?
@zahita459 build more crap buying robots.
Do robots buy the meh meh offerings ?
