It didn’t take so long for this site to start losing pieces of its soul, did it?

Post pix of your fav clicky-faces here, if you have them and, can bear the sadness.
: (
@f00l Least favorite product evar.
@therealjrn
But do you love the “clicky-faces face”?
I do.
/giphy catnip
@f00l Anything even remotely related to those cursed popsockets should be taken out back of the barn, shot, then burned to ashes…other than that, they’re great!
@therealjrn
I suppose saying
"uh … If you don’t like them, don’t buy them"
won’t deal with your personal feelings here, will it?
Ouchie.
/youtube satisfaction rolling Stones live
@f00l BURN THEM!!! BURN THEM ALL!!1!
not the Stones tho, they’re cool
@f00l
@f00l @therealjrn It just occurred to me while reading your comment… that their kids really can say… “papa was a rollin’ stone” .
@f00l @lseeber Brilliant!
Hey, listen, an aging shoe is naturally going to lose bits of the sole through several years of wear and tear, okay?
Oh. Soul. Yeah, no, we gave away the soul in a Fuko long ago.
Probably one that got lost in the mail.
@ThomasF
The site’s soul is separate from the various souls allegedly belonging to company employees, you know.
You all can’t “send away the site’s soul”.
Tho you can break it lose it.
Accidentally. Without knowing what thou doist.
I did get a tiny piece of your personal soul in a fuko, way back when.
It was kinda rusty and icky. But I cleaned it up. Polished it nicely.
I tried to send it back to you. It refused to go.
Claimed that:
“freedom is more than just another word for nothing left to lose”
So I set it free.
Hope you and that piece of your soul find each other again someday.
Hope it’s a good reunion.

@f00l
Do you know what I have sacrificed to gain this power?
@ThomasF
I regret to find that you gave all and everything for a poorly chosen ultimate prize.
Maybe that’s why that little piece of soul wanted to get away from you.

@f00l
We all know Meh jumped the shark when they introduced the Circuit Breaker.
@Ignorant User satisfaction. Illustrated for easy comprehension…
@Ignorant it was when they started using social media and sending emails.
@medz oh yeah that was it.
New poll: When did Meh lose its soul?
@walarney
6. They accidentally left it behind when they moved.
@walarney Don’t forget the great poo fiasco. Another wonderful @snapster brainchild.
@walarney I think it’s been a gradual piece by piece process. The saddest thing is it isn’t actually too late. Some of their more slap-in-the-face-to-your-most-devoted-users stuff can be reversed (with a corresponding Ohshit report). But the heartbreaking part is that this is what Woot! did, too. And in the end, that site’s soul was definitely for sale. The writing’s on the wall here, too. We all know it.
Or maybe it was when they stopped making new videos.
They lost it for me when they promised “things” for MVP membership and never delivered.
@wootprime I got socks. And something else, but it was a long time ago, when you could sign up for VMP memberships.
@aldwardo @wootprime From the Benefits section of VMP information in my account:
That last item amuses me.
@ruouttaurmind you telling me you weren’t surprised about the removal of the face calendar?
@Ignorant @ruouttaurmind but everyone got that, not just VMP. I feel cheated.
@aldwardo The keychain USB adapters in a custom made Irk box that can be folded into a phone stand.
@Al_Coholic @ruouttaurmind good point
@wootprime Calling it MVP like a casual, pah. No socks for you.
The only thing that can save meh now is to sell the company to Amazon and start anew.
But let me know about the kickstarter this time.
/giphy Phoenix rebirth
A while back snapster posted about why he changed out the VMP, etc. and indicated that meh didn’t make much money for him; that he kept it around for essentially sentimental reasons (if I recall correctly, too lazy to look for that thread)… so maybe he no longer cares about meh enough to allocate enough resources to it and this is one way of cutting back hoping we will all
slink off into the sunsetdecide to frequent morningsave and other sites of his instead - not fully realizing what draws people here, which isn’t especially some of the products for sale. If he still cares about this site, removing one of the iconic things about the site sure needs rethought.From the meh.com FAQ:
This model originated with Woot.com, …and was ultimately snapped up by Amazon in a 110-million-dollar acquisition deal in 2010.
Under Amazon’s ownership, Woot abandoned the one-day-one-deal model in favor of multiple simultaneous sales. … why not two items a day? Ooh, or what about 36?
… it also eliminates what had been singularly interesting about the deal-a-day retail experience. A site with one item for sale is (arguably) interesting; whereas one with a few dozen things is just a store with crummy selection.
… We’re convinced we can keep the essential characteristics that make this kind of store uniquely fun, while still getting the business to grow and thrive.
They have learned nothing. They hate the very thing they have become.
