I've been calling this place church--well, okay, not from day one, but from the first few months at least. But I love the clock tower analogy, for all kinds of reasons. Among them (and this is by no means an exhaustive list):
1) Yes, it's like vespers. Ironically, my specific subculture didn't do vespers and generally and ostentatiously (but, ah, indeed, only ostensibly) eschewed ritual. This resulted in much ritual envy on my part. Anyway, I digress. 2) Reminds me of one of my favorite jokes, about a couple of guys who ring church bells. 3) It also reminds me of the "shooter from the clock tower" trope, which, yeah, I don't know why this should make me happy, but it kinda does (this one's from the X-Files "Blood" episode and I really like the actor who played this particular crazy):
Also also, never heard of vespers but yes exactly that. Even my wife has been pavolv'd to know that when my phone gets a text message in the evening it's Meh time. (I don't sms at all, so the only time it dings is for Meh.)
@DrunkCat My wife--who I think pretty much hates the fact that I acquire stuff here and fill our already cluttered house with even more shit--has also reflexively joined in. And, yes, I blame @Pavlov.
I'm totally ecumenical, btw, so well, yaknow, I accept you heretics even while I know in my heart that you're haplessly misguided.
Pretty sure it's 11....
@thismyusername
Nine somewhere. Perhaps in his little private universe.

@mortonfox And cows don't make ham.

Also nine rhymes with chime.

@joelmw Not sure why I catch the blame, we have a goat.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Pavlov You and those slobbering dogs of yours.
@DrunkCat -
@snapster chose "Pavlov" as the project code-name for Meh wisely . . .
I can see why the staff ignored this thread.
@DrunkCat
They don't ignore this thread, they lurk. We're clever pups. They're experimenters.
See how we comment on our condition and wag out tales? We're so cute. Pat pat us, scratch right behind our ears....
No comment on the nature of their home planet.
