Pockets/hands. Unless I need to take the laptop home for some reason.
Some gals walk in with like 3 bags… Why? What are they bringing everyday? Purse, lunch, laptop?.. Sometimes it’s like a plastic shopping bag though. Weird.
@medz gym clothes or going out right after work clothes, makeup, heels to slip on at your desk…etc. then sneakers can be put in a plastic bag so they don’t mess up the rest of your stuff. when i worked in an office i’d bring a grocery bag of food for the week on monday rather than bring a lunch every day. usually a sleeve of bagels, fruit, yogurt, etc.
@medz I use a bag, but my hands are always full. Water bottle, lunch, etc. I use a messenger bag style thing which doesn’t hold those bigger items because I’m fabulous, not practical.
I work from home now, so… I roll out of bed and bring my cell phone from the bedroom to the living room so I can edit people’s novels and write. It’s kinda utterly amazing.
Just today when I was coming in to work the security screener says, you don’t travel light huh? Uh, nothing wrong with carrying with my huge purse full of everything and my huge tote bag full of whatever for one shift.
/giphy kind of rude
@PlacidPenguin@thismyusername I have the unicorn, owl, and dino in front of me now with others at home. Which one are you interested in other than the cool penguin? I don’t think I have that one.
Toolbox. I’m retired, but I make art to sell. When I go to workshops and classes, I take my art tools and materials in an assortment of tool boxes. They’re much sturdier and less expensive than carriers designed for art, and the compartments are highly useful.
real messenger bag, designed for people who haul things on bikes for a living. surplus from a company that did bike deliveries during the first dot-com boom. i still bike with it pretty much every day – to work, to the grocery store, to the coffee shop or library or used bookstore or whatever. usually i’ve got a jacket, laptop, headphones, book or three, some pens. . . normal stuff.
totebag. but, i mostly work from home and when i don’t i’m housekeeping so i just need something to shove a change of clothes and my ipad in. i also do stop at the grocery store before and after so i actually bring several bags. but i usually keep my personal stuff in this one:
(from emilymcdowell.com - actually really high quality big gusseted resilient totes.)
Before retirement, I mostly used a leather bag that looked almost exactly like this.
In fact… if it had a few more Klein tools & less Greenlee tools, I’d say it WAS mine! It needs a roll of Scotch 33+ electrical tape & a teflon tape on the side…
Also, a nice insulated lunch box, as I was alone & on the road to remote locations most times.
@daveinwarsh I can remember those days as well. Since becoming a nurse, I switched to an Eastpak backpack (that I dump the “work” contents out of when I travel…)

What do you carry stuff around in at places like Disney World?
Last time, I used a red Fuko drawstring bag which was lightweight, but things weren’t organized well inside it. The water bottle was inside sweating on the map of the park and everything else that was jammed in there. We bought a bubble wand thing for the kind that eventually also got stuck inside the bag. Started to become unwieldy.
I was thinking I could get away with pockets and a small messenger bag thing this time, but I think I will just go with a light-weight back pack that sacrifices size for functionality and capacity.

Never been to a State Fair, though it’s fair to say that I live in a state.
But in all seriousness, I’ve used drawstring bags. At first I used a legitimate red fuku bag, though it ripped.
I have not used fuko bags though.
Late last year, I bought a bag from Amazon.
The thing with going to big parks (which I don’t), is that I can’t eat most of the food that’s sold, so I have to bring my own stuff. That would result in a drawstring bag not being enough.
@medz For Disney just make sure to find a comfortable bag that only has one pocket. -As I’m sure you know, they check every pocket on your backpack when entering a park, getting on the monorail, etc. The few places they need to check the quicker you’ll get through.
@zachdecker Good point. I was thinking more pockets for better organization and quicker access to things I may need. I’ll try not to hide things going in.
Funny enough, having a bag last time meant I skipped the metal detector to go to the bag search table. My body wasn’t searched at all.
I’m a self employed IT consultant. I have a big assed open topped briefcase with enough gussets to contain everything I need: Laptop, CD case, Tool case, extra 5-port switch, vga to hdmi converters, SATA to USB converter, etc. I’ve been trying to find a rolling case that would handle all my stuff, but not put it all in one or two gussets. Almost impossible to find. My briefcase weighs a ton and looks beat to hell, but it’s the only thing that works for me so far.
Work?
@Ignorant it’s something the little people do, darling. Have another braised crumpet.
@UncleVinny Sounds soggy…
@djslack they’re luscious and moist, pet. Not soggy.
@djslack @UncleVinny If they were soggy, we would simply sack the chef and hire a new one that can make a proper crumpet!
Pockets/hands. Unless I need to take the laptop home for some reason.

plastic grocery store bag (since I work at home, but probably even if I didn’t)
@awk
I have never seen a plastic grocery store.
@DVDBZN You’re not trying hard enough…
I carry a bottle in my hand. If I bring anything, it’s lunch in a reused grocery bag.
@RiotDemon
Wrapped in a brown paper bag?
@edgriebel @RiotDemon “I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy…”
Insulated lunch bag.
I go to work with a nice red Thule backpack that I bought on Meh.com! It’s not one of these models, though.
Panniers on the bicycle. Can’t beat em!
It would be really inconvenient to load and unload my bicycle into my car.
I bring my stuff to work in my pockets.
@00 Yup, it’s called pockets.

Messenger bag.
@DrWorm a timbuck2 bags that is guaranteed for life!

Small canvas murse for my non-edible and a plastic grocery bag for edible
Sometimes when I have to move a lot of stuff, I bring it in a little red wagon.
truck
Fuko bag.
How did computer bags not make the list?
I carry everything I need to work on my wheeled computer bag, and it even fits under the seat in front of me (though I usually hog the overhead bin).
I just reach for one of the dozens of backpacks and or bags I have purchased from meh, ya know from back when they priced them correctly.

@narfcake
Compared to the t-shirt, the plushie looks disappointing.
@PlacidPenguin plushie?
@thismyusername
There are a few designs which I am especially interested in, but I’m not about to buy numerous boxes in the hopes that I get the ones which I want.
@PlacidPenguin @thismyusername I have the unicorn, owl, and dino in front of me now with others at home. Which one are you interested in other than the cool penguin? I don’t think I have that one.
@looseneck @thismyusername
What unicorn?
@PlacidPenguin @thismyusername It’s eating a rainbow - it’s from 2014.
@looseneck @thismyusername
Ah. The first series.
@PlacidPenguin Yes! I have more at home but I’m not there now.
@looseneck
From series 1, I particularly like the zombie, the penguin bunny, the raven, the guy on fire, and the cupcake.
Loose and disorganized pile of crap, hastily gathered from the floor of my car, where they fell during my careening commute to the office.
“Bag? No way man, I juggle.”

@sicc574 But I can only juggle eight, so if I’m ever here buying nine apples, bag 'em up!

Depends.
@mike808 You bring your stuff to work in a Depends?
@rtjhnstn Do you often ask questions to which you already know the answer? Durr.
@rtjhnstn no … Depends are for holding your junk, not your stuff…

Softside cooler.
I have pockets for my keys, wallet and phone. Work stays at work, I don’t bring that crap home.
I switch between a messenger bag and a backpack. Backpack is for when I’m going to the gym, messenger bag for non gym days.
Reusable grocery bag
totebag. but, i mostly work from home and when i don’t i’m housekeeping so i just need something to shove a change of clothes and my ipad in. i also do stop at the grocery store before and after so i actually bring several bags. but i usually keep my personal stuff in this one:

I bring my stuff in a local grocery plastic bag.
Work? Retired…but when I did, in the saddlebags of my bicycle.
Haze of confusion and innate feeling of impending doom.
I use a messenger bag. A ratty looking messenger bag.

@medz
Trick question.
I have never been to Disney World.
The closest I got was having my name put on a piece of paper and taken along (or so I hope).
@PlacidPenguin Sorry. What about a State Fair or other large outdoor space that may require a lot of walking around while carrying stuff?
@medz
Never been to a State Fair, though it’s fair to say that I live in a state.

I’m glad to find out so many other people just bring stuff in their pockets and use a grocery store plastic bag for those days when they need to.
The fact that you won’t allow more than one answer choice shows that you and most of the people working with you are male.
When I had to go to work every day, I had a purse, a shoe bag, a lunch bag, and a briefcase.
Thank dog those days are over.
@Chakolate Also a hat box
/image hat box
@Chakolate perfect!
@Chakolate And if I was going to the gym on the way home, a gym bag.
Drybag
Which one does Laptop Bag fall under?
The bag I tote to work is certainly not a backpack. Using it in such a manner would be awkward and possibly fatal.
It’s not a briefcase because there’s no lock with a secret 3-digit unguessable code.
It’s not a purse because a golfer or horse racer would have won it by now.
It would fit within a duffel bag, so it can’t be a duffel bag. This is standard duffelogic.
It’s not a canvas bag because, being black in color, it would be a poor choice to paint on.
Once again, Meh has left me disenfranchised, miserable, and wrought with the pain of the gods.
My pockets… how much crap do you people carry around with you?! If I bring lunch or something out of the ordinary, it’s just in a plastic grocery bag.
Cooler.
