That’s terrible. I really hope his prognosis is not as bad as it appears at first and I specially hope that you all can be there with renewed warmth and love for each other
@ivannabc Sorry to hear about your dad’s cancer diagnosis. That sucks and it is an emotional earthquake for your entire family. If your dad is financially stressed whisper me and I can send you a list of organizations that help financially - things like insurance premiums, co-pays, drugs (like anti nausea drugs), etc.
Thank you everyone!! He had his first treatment two weeks ago. His next treatment will be next week. I’m praying for the best. We haven’t asked what the prognosis is yet because we’re just not ready to know that. We will see how he’s responding to the treatment before we start thinking about it.
@OldCatLady@UncleVinny True. However, I’ve grown my beard out farther than in the past (still neatly trimmed), but no one outside of immediate family can properly appreciate it.
started out ok…
Parents got their first Dose of the Moderna Vaccine on the 3rd, I got myself on the pharmacy’s “Stand By” list, and got my First Shot on the 4th…
shortly there after we all started getting symptoms we thought were just side effects…
when they hadn’t gone away by the 13th, they took Dad to the ER, where he tested positive for Covid, and Pneumonia. they admitted him to the Covid ward.
while he was in, Mom and I both tested Positive (YAY!)
they sent dad home after 3 days. he was treated with 3 units of Convalescent Plasma, Remdesivir, and Steroids.
My Symptoms never went beyond Cold/Flu like, while mom had headaches, and was tired a lot.
our Quarantine is now officially over. I go back to work Tomorrow (3/1).
they Tell us, Mom & I are OK to get our second Doses on schedule on the 3rd and 4th, Dad has to wait 45 days because of the Convalescent Plasma.
oh, and now that i’ve been able to get out and drive the past few days, My Check Engine light came on, Codes point towards “lost Communications” with the Electric Water pump… could be a broken/corroded connector, could need a new pump.
have to call the stealership for an appointment monday.
@earlyre harbor freight is having a $25 off their heavy duty jacks. And 10% off other things (jack stands) if you’re looking. Granted I worked under the craftsman one ton saturn for decades before upgrading so…
@unksol no… i have jackstands, etc. but i had a couple incidents with my last car(involving plastic ramps) that have me shaken to the point I’m waiting on my brother to get off his duff and build his shop, where I’ll have lift access…until then, I’ll just pay someone.
or when i get tired of waiting, and get a set of quickjacks.
@earlyre@unksol Smart man! My chest hurt just reading the words “jack incidents”!!
@earlyre Prayers for you and your parents, that’s no joke! I was wondering what happens if you got the virus between the doses of the vaccine. Do you have any idea where you all where exposed? I was feeling extremely vulnerable and exposed when I went to get my vaccine, no one was social distancing, it looked like a shit show and I left without being vaccinated! My guy just now text me that they’re giving him the Moderna vaccine, thought to be getting the Johnson. The moderna is the only one he didn’t want. Sure as heck won’t be telling him about your experience. 5 I’m going to have mine there in a few hours.
Feeling apprehensive.
How are you all feeling now?
@Lynnerizer nothing definitive as to where/how I was exposed, but I work as a grocery cashier… So…in contact with all the masked, “masked”, and unmasked masses on a daily basis…
@Lynnerizer no jack accidents, just me overshooting the ramps… aka driving up and over, wheels falling back to the ground.
I don’t have the best reaction time… and That car did tend to lurch off the line…
Didn’t hurt anything but the ramps themselves, my pride…
…and that first time, the old kitchen cabinets in the garage, and the door of the gas range… ( they both got a bit smashed… Only bent the front plate on the car…)
It was cold. We got a new car but I’m grieving the loss of my truck. I did not think trading her in would affect me like it has.
We found out we are going to have a baby girl in July, so that’s exciting. Our two boys are stoked to have a sister. My dad is fully vaccinated but my mom doesn’t want the shot quite yet. It’s frustrating because I want her to spend time with her grandkids.
So Meh.
@show_the_maw congratulations! well, on the baby anyway
my MIL is refusing to get the vaccine as well and she’s immunocompromised and has a lot of vectors for exposure even though she’s home 24/7. we hope we can get her to come around. we haven’t seen her in a year and would like to, yanno? sigh.
@jerk_nugget my mom has been over a few times but not as much as we would like. I’m really hoping she gets in a list at least. With the kids in school who knows what they could bring home.
@show_the_maw yup! ours lives with her son/my BIL and his family (wife, HS age daughter & elementary school age daughter) plus she has two younger daughters, one who had a baby this year and another who just left for college, so there’s just… a lot of coming and going. and the family is all amazing, thankfully, but we didn’t want to add to the list unnecessarily especially as my partner and i live in a town that has a really high rate of infection by comparison.
@tinamarie1974
Great!! How do you feel, any side effects? Johnny/my guy, just got his 20 minutes ago, I go in a few hours. That is the ONLY brand he didn’t want, he’s scared of getting bad side effects. Matter of fact, he’s already saying he doesn’t feel well, at least he knows it’s ALL in his head! He’s too much!! Lol…
@Lynnerizer all good. My arm was a little sore for a few days, no big deal. I was A LITTLE tired the next day but nothing serious. Fee extra cups 9f hot tea to get me going.
Hopefully you do well also.
So unlike Johnny I was thrilled to get Moderna. The shipping rules for Pfizer are difficult and outside of the norm. Although it is doable I see it as an increased risk of issues (temp deviations, thawing, etc). I am sure it is fine, I just worry.
I started cooking and think about starting gardening too. This time of qurantine sucks but at the same time gives us the opportunities to start new hobbies and listen to ourselves.
@Kyeh thanks. It’s just been emotionally exhausting. I live in a different state than them. I’m happy for video chat though… and my best friend is an ER nurse that helps COVID patients every day. I asked her to check on them and she sent them to the hospital. We’re all very thankful
Thanks for asking, my February sucked!
After being seen on & off 35+ years by the same pain management clinic, I got a dirty urine. Came back that I had codeine in my system, something that I don’t take. The drugs THEY prescribe me are WAY stronger than codeine and when I mentioned that fact, I was called a lier and THEN accused of doing heroin. I think if i’d done heroin then my urine test would be positive for heroin and NOT codeine! All of this said/done by a brand new APRN who’s never even met me!! It wasn’t even SO much “what” she was saying as much as it was the WAY she was saying it! The girl (maybe 24 yrs old) didn’t even introduce herself to me, she just layed into me with her accusations in the most judgemental way. After all of THAT she says she’s not qualified to give me the trigger point injections that I get every visit! For goodness sakes the Dr used to give me the supplies to do the injections at home! I’ll sure as heck make it known that I won’t be seeing HER again!
After that whole fiascos I had put off going to the ER because i’m SO afraid of catching Covid. I finally got SO sick that I had to call the ambulance. When I finally made it to the ER I get put in a exam room with a woman who tested Covid positive! You’d think that would be enough crap to deal with right? NOPE, not done yet! The next day (Sunday) when I get home from the hospital and i’m reading the “my chart” to see what my Covid test had come back as (it was Negative) and i’m not believing what i’m seeing! I’ll back up a minute…
Just before midnight my urine test at the ER had been lost for 2 hours and I’d offered to do another one. The APRN (not a doctor) who’d been caring (cough cough) for me during this visit didn’t want to have another test done. HE said he was getting off his shift in 15 minutes and wanted to “get me out of there”, his words! I was persistent and said I have to pee again right now anyway. I even said that they could just call me IF the results showed anything and call in a Rx IF need be. He wasn’t having it. Nor would he give me IV lasics for my super swollen legs and feet that I couldn’t even walk on. My regular lasics (even doubling my dose) isn’t working at home but that was only my secondary reason for my THIS ER visit. Dry heaves and wicked stomach pain was what finally got me there, those symptoms were fixed within minutes. (IV drugs work amazingly fast, thank goodness!) I’d also been peeing blood for 5 days, that’s WHY I was persistent about the urine test.
So as i’m reading the “my chart” what this APRN wrote was that “I”, the patient, REFUSED to give a urine and stated that she could not urinate. OMG was I livid!! Just about jumped out my skin as I felt my blood pressure hit the roof! How can these people just lie on you like that?! As I continued reading it just got worse, and before I was even done I get a call from the ER Dr saying that my CT scan was misread and I needed to be seen ASAP!
He was in fact a full fledged doctor, I explained a few things about my visit only hours prior and he was super apologetic. With the abnormal CT scan results the Dr talked about cancer. These days i’m SO skeptical and cynical about what Dr’s say, I truly believe they throw the “C” word around just to scare me into making sure I have it looked at. Anyway, THAT’S what made MY February suck!
@Kyeh Thanks! I’m hangin in there, waiting for my tella-health follow up with my GP in about 7 hours. Not very hopeful that anything is going to be resolved through a video Dr’s appointment, in these days of the Covid what are we going to do…
Yes @kyeh, good call! One thing is for sure, both of our visits were a freakin JOKE. Only difference, his was kinda funny, mine was BIG time SAD!!
…and I won’t be very eager to be going back! Lol
@Kyeh@Lynnerizer That’s an awful lot of suckage for one month. I hope the CT scan is a false alarm, and that the cause is something reasonable.
Prayers for you!
@Kyeh@mehcuda67 ⑅✩♡ᵗʱᵃᵑᵏઽ*♡♬*°
Ultrasound Thursday, should hear something soon. Going for my Pfizers vaccine in a few hours, thank goodness I got in so soon, some anxiety has been lifted!
@mehcuda67 I’ve been wanting to ask you since I first saw your username, what’s the meaning behind yours? I’d always been a real gear head, loved my old hotrods, had a handful of super cool ones. The 68 Cuda was a sweet ride! My guess is you have or had a 67.
@Lynnerizer There are certainly some asshats who shouldn’t be in medicine in any capacity. Sounds like you hit one of those. Insist that the medical facility correct your medical record. I have had to do that twice. They don’t want to do that, they say they can’t (not true), they say they will just post a correction. Nope correction is no good, people may read the original visit record but not the correction. If the doctor you are now seeing with this mess can’t help get that changed (as in get the wrong information deleted) talk to patent advocacy or whatever it is called there.
Meh
Not good. My dad was diagnosed with cancer. This whole last year can eff off.
@ivannabc Sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers for your Dad, your family and you.
@ivannabc @mehcuda67
That’s terrible. I really hope his prognosis is not as bad as it appears at first and I specially hope that you all can be there with renewed warmth and love for each other
@ivannabc Healing prayers going to your Dad, and positive prayers for your strength.
@ivannabc that’s awful. take care of him and of you, and hang in there
@ivannabc Sorry to hear about your dad’s cancer diagnosis. That sucks and it is an emotional earthquake for your entire family. If your dad is financially stressed whisper me and I can send you a list of organizations that help financially - things like insurance premiums, co-pays, drugs (like anti nausea drugs), etc.
@ivannabc I’m so sorry.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
As were the prior 11 months.
more “ehhh” than “eh”
Tested positive the end of January. Hospital. ER. Just getting back to normal. Slowly.
@pooflady oh yikes, I’m really sorry. I hope you keep recovering ok.
My February still is. Check back tomorrow.
Got my second Pfizer jab, and still masking. Decided I like being a recluse. I live in Flori-duh.
@OldCatLady it’s an excellent time to be a recluse or introvert. It’s also a nice time to have pretty eyes and a weird nose.
@OldCatLady @UncleVinny True. However, I’ve grown my beard out farther than in the past (still neatly trimmed), but no one outside of immediate family can properly appreciate it.
Someone commented that no year could be as bad as 2020. 2021 told that someone “Here, hold my beer”.
@hchavers I sincerely hope 2021 does not need that beer. Let it think
Icy.
Happy there is a new month coming.

Come on Tax refund! poppa needs a new water pump!
@earlyre what car is this that had an electric water pump? Normally belt driven
@unksol ford c-max hybrid. No belts at all.
Everything is electric, one of the electric motors doubles as a generator.
@unksol here’s the pump:

@earlyre hmm. Rockauto has it for 188 plus shipping. Still not cheap…

Some dayes I like my old beaters
@unksol I’m well aware, just don’t have a good way to get under the car to do it myself. It’s literally right in front of the oil filter.
@earlyre harbor freight is having a $25 off their heavy duty jacks. And 10% off other things (jack stands) if you’re looking. Granted I worked under the craftsman one ton saturn for decades before upgrading so…
https://slickdeals.net/f/14859976-25-off-any-daytona-floor-jack-25
@earlyre my bad that coupon may be expired but I think the 10% is still good.

@earlyre well. Never done plastic ramps… And I’ve never had a car shift on me even when beating on it hard. But if one had…
Also I like taking the tires off and putting them under the axels. Then we have three point of failure
@earlyre @unksol Smart man! My chest hurt just reading the words “jack incidents”!!

Finally have a job again after being laid off since June, so it was one of the better months in recent memory.
@bocoroth Cool. Got that $5 you owe me?
It was cold. We got a new car but I’m grieving the loss of my truck. I did not think trading her in would affect me like it has.

Both my parents were hospitalized due to COVID and my dad’s friend passed from COVID. my parebts will be discharged soon though and will survive.
@mbersiam I’m glad your parents are going to be okay; I’m very sorry about your friend’s dad.
