More like once every few months. I can make coffee at home but sometimes I specifically want gas station or diner coffee that is a little too watery and has been on the warming plate for way too long.
The only time I ever bought coffee out was from the gas station for my Aunt and Uncles when they visited. They were horrified that we didn’t own a coffee machine. We now have one and it hasn’t been used since they visited last, so in about 5 years.
@kjady, no coffee maker at my house either, but a kettle and steepers for tea.
I used to be able to say I didn’t have a microwave but someone “gifted” me one and now it sits on the floor in my pantry.
@kittykat9180@kjady
Do you reheat everything in or on the stove? When I get home at 11:30pm it’s just so much more convent to reheat food in the microwave than it is to turn on the oven and wait for it to heat up.
Honestly, I’ve been hitting energy drinks lately but the hot weather has me missing cold brew.
My new job/home purchase hasn’t left me much time to enjoy good tea or coffee lately…
@Cerridwyn I don’t do HFCS at all, and I avoid sugar. I also don’t do carbonated sodas regardless of their calorie content. For me, coffee is off the list because it tastes vile and smells nasty. I can’t even stand brownies that have had it added to them. I drink a lot of limonada and similar beverages, and have been going back to unsweetened tea a fair bit lately.
@Salanth i stop by my favorite place on the way to the grocery store and a different on the way to PT (or if I walk to the corner market because I need something small. They use Klatch and make it decent)
I drink about a half pot of coffee a day,
The only time I buy coffee out is on long distance trips, driving several states.
Don’t like Starbucks and gas station coffee is hit and miss. But Flying J’s is the worst!
@mycya4me, I don’t like the taste or the smell of coffee. I do like tea and have a variety of black, white, and herbal teas at home (green tea tastes like grass clippings). Adagio has an amazing tea selection.
@kittykat9180 I have tried the Flavor sticks with “Tea” in them that is about as far as I go with tea. The same goes for Coffee or tea. if that is your thing, Go for it! But for me it is a selection of Flavor sticks of all kinds, Gatorade some times, but not often! Plus a LOT & I do mean a lot of water! in the colder months… Hot Coco.
I stopped drinking coffee a few years ago only because I need cream & sugar to make it enjoyable and I thought that would be a great place to start cutting back on wasted calories.
BUT… Every once in a blue moon (1-2 times a year) I get a craving for cappuccino, the fake kind that comes out of those disgusting convenience store machines that you hope and pray they’ve been cleaned recently. And then again, sometimes I just let the craving pass.
As I aged, caffeine interrupted my sleep more and more. So now I only drink one cup of coffee first thing in the morning. That cup is always set up in my coffee maker the night before on a timer. So the answer is I never buy coffee out.
Why do I want to drink that icky stuff! When I was little, my parents says it was for adults. As I grew older, I never saw my need for it. So I never have to waste money for it!
@mycya4me i had my first cup around 5 or 6 or so, mostly milk in a fancy cup with just enough coffee to change the color. I remember it still 60+ years later. by high school i took it black
Only time I buy coffee out is on road trips and usually at some sketchy roadside gas station or fast food joint… it’s very rare, as in almost never, will I pay over a buck or two for a cuppa joe.
Go through the better part of a pot of coffee every morning at home. Usually make a Keurig so that’ll be ready before the first pot gets finished. Rarely buy coffee out unless I’m on the road and eating breakfast in a fast food place or at the airport once I pass security on an early flight.
Going on a month long trip in Europe mid July to mid August so will probably end up buying coffee out more frequently during that time because “coffee in Europe” (plus European hotels are less likely to have a coffee maker in the room)!
The only time I have coffee out is on a road trip. And that is at the place I am spending the night. Usually that is part of the free breakfast. (If I am staying with family, that is coffee in, so doesn’t count.)
maybe once a month, at most. As a treat. I have a pack of those same types of disposable drink cups from the restaurant supply, and I’ll make a fun coffee at home when I want to have a fun drink and leaving the house. Takes away the temptation to buy one.
If I buy coffee it’s probably less than once a month. Only when I’m super tired and up really early bc if I drink it too late in the day I’m up all night.
Individuals who are homozygous for the CYP1A2*1A allele are “rapid” caffeine metabolizers, whereas carriers of the variant CYP1A2*1F are “slow” caffeine metabolizers.
Intake of coffee was associated with an increased risk of nonfatal MI only among individuals with slow caffeine metabolism, suggesting that caffeine plays a role in this association. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16522833/
Stayed in a hotel recently and they didn’t clean the pots good enough to get the coffee taste out of the hot water. Ruined my tea and had to scrub my cup several times to make it usable. Same hotel did not have a plain black tea. Only a set of Tazo flavors set up for breakfast.
In room coffee maker with horrible coffee taste was not an option but they had a bad tasting black tea to go with it. Yuck. Brought my own tea and used the kettle at work the next time I stayed there.
We need to bring back the Test Teas. I just ordered a new to me black tea someone at work suggested. It arrives tomorrow.
Zero times out, zero times in.
@heartny the only correct response
Never
Almost never

yeah no that’s such a waste of money
@spacemart This!
Twice a day.
Pretty much never. We have an espresso machine as well as a drip coffee maker at home, so our coffee needs are covered.
About once a month.
Honestly, I’ve been hitting energy drinks lately but the hot weather has me missing cold brew.
My new job/home purchase hasn’t left me much time to enjoy good tea or coffee lately…
Zero. We don’t do coffee.
@werehatrack Great Minds think the Same! Never started as a kid, never found a need to start!
@werehatrack do you drink soda? you know it’s worse
@Cerridwyn I don’t do HFCS at all, and I avoid sugar. I also don’t do carbonated sodas regardless of their calorie content. For me, coffee is off the list because it tastes vile and smells nasty. Mostly at home, out a few times a week.

@lonocat woohoo, another starbucks hater found
buy from your local roaster or go home
Never, nor do I drink coffee at home.
@kittykat9180 I agrees with You! Never saw a need to start! I save a lot of money that way!

@mycya4me, I don’t know what a flavor stick it.
@kittykat9180 Dole Powdered Drink Mix Variety Pack, Tropical Splash, Peach Mango, Strawberry Pineapple, Sugar-Free, 30 Count this is one!
I just roast and brew my own.
@PocketBrain Me too! With our great coffee, I rarely ever buy a coffee anywhere except on vacation.
@Lynnerizer Yes that sounds like a way to nip the craving in the bud… just think about How much money you save!
Never. On the occasional occasions I drink coffee, I make it at home.
As I aged, caffeine interrupted my sleep more and more. So now I only drink one cup of coffee first thing in the morning. That cup is always set up in my coffee maker the night before on a timer. So the answer is I never buy coffee out.

@Cerridwyn To each their own, If that is what you like, then go for it!
I don’t miss it, & I have more money in my pocket!
I’m only likely to buy a coffee on the return leg of a road trip.
Only time I buy coffee out is on road trips and usually at some sketchy roadside gas station or fast food joint… it’s very rare, as in almost never, will I pay over a buck or two for a cuppa joe.
Almost never. Usually when I am being forced to drive into the main office for work and I want to treat myself during the very long commute.
I do not like coffee as a drink,
It ruins chocolate and ice cream
I’d pour any coffee down a sink
I think coffee big time stinks.
(this poem stinks too )
@Kidsandliz I disagree with the sentiment, but I love the creativity!
@Kidsandliz HEHEHE, Yep it could mess up good Chocolate!

@narfcake that must be an old shirt; I swear it’s now $8
@pakopako It’s from the first year of shirt.woot – which was … 2007.
@narfcake

Nicest coffee I’ve had was green coffee, which is basically soy milk (soaking the unroasted beans in water overnight)

Once or twice…
… A year.
I make my coffee at home and in office. Don’t typically buy it out.
