@snapster Oh I lived in those dark ages… Good thing they are so underfunded they probably have your tickets filed under "forgotten" rather than go hunting for people now that they can.
@snapster I feel like I want to edit this article with fun facts like "Matt Rutledge is scared of pinatas" and "Matt Rutledge never makes a left hand turn without flipping a coin."
YouTube & Twitch.tv. Totally not blocked, and don't foresee it happening -- I walked into my director's (boss's boss) office yesterday and he was watching DOTA2.
For reading, there's always Kindle cloud reader. Or find some ebooks from, um, less-than-legal sources, and put them on a USB stick.
Downtime at work is spent doing my homework for Essentials of Mathematics and College Writing 101. 47 years old and I just now am starting college. Think I'm a little bit of a procrastinator?
@Kidsandliz Thank you for the congratulations! Thankfully no school loans. Going part-time, two nights a week. My company reimburses me 90% for tuition and books, as long as I pass the course. I figure it'll take me about 3 years to finish.
@bluedog another piece of advice - unless the degree is just a formality for a promotion for your job, stay away from the for profit programs (both online and on ground). If you are doing an online degree many state schools offer them and they are far more credible than the online industry (of which several of the big players are going under due to financial problems and/or breaking the law). Some community colleges do online degrees as well. The for profit education industry for BA's etc (vocational training has some notable exceptions) just aren't credible and many places consider them one step away from a diploma mill (which is accurate for many/some of them).
@Kidsandliz I had considered an online program and looked into Phoenix but in the end I realized I need the accountability of actually going to a physical classroom. I ended up enrolling in the community college near my job. It's part of the SUNY (State University of NY) system.
@bluedog Good move. Then your degree will be credible and if you choose to go on beyond community college there will be no question about the validity of what you taken to date. I have taught both online and face to face and I personally prefer face to face - I think the students, generally speaking, get a better education overall.
@JonT Just because someone has removable skin, a forked tongue, slit pupils, and a jaw that can open as big as his face, doesn't make us lizard peoplesssssssss...
I read boingboing.net, making sure I go to page view, because I don't like their new "magazine format". I also spend time on TheHairpin.com (which I understand is actually aimed at a female audience but I really enjoy), and the witty John Moltz's VeryNiceWebsite.net. And I visit CNN.com for 'merican news and CBC.ca/news for 'nadian news. I enjoy on meh.com/forums, including writing the occasional ridiculous post. I also am always available on iChat (or Messages.app or whatever they are calling it this version) for my co-workers but also my friends. I also keep my two iPads (both personal and work) handy with books to read and Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy Quest For Stuff to play. Oh, and Instagram on my iPhone. But mostly, I just do my work. Lots and lots of work.
bird watching?

Hanging out with you jokers on the Meh.com forums, mostly.
@JonT +1
@JonT Entertainment is the key word there. ooh and a belated thanks for fixing that caps thing!
I bet for a price @JonT will embed sports videos here for you.
@editorkid a very reasonable one too
@JonT I can't wait to see the Irk vs. Glen Frisbee Golf championship. Especially if @TheBear is underwriting it anyway.
@JonT Just because it's embeded here, though, wouldn't it still be blocked because it's coming from a blocked location?
@jqubed Probably! But I enjoyed posting and watching that video so it was worth it for me.
@JonT yeah it was still blocked.
@jqubed The IT at my work is lazy or something because I can't go to youtube.com but if it is enbedded I can usualyl see it. (Not Twitter though...)
I read wikipedia all day.
@snapster Not all of us are cool enough to have our own Wikipedia articles to spend all day crafting.
@snapster That's got to be the best wikipedia page I've ever read. I hope you contributed to it.
@Bogie it actually has some inaccuracies but I don't want to edit. Oh well one of them is it says I'm a year younger so I guess that can stay :)
@snapster LOL… you do know they could come after you for those traffic tickets even in TX...
@Kidsandliz sadly you did not get to enjoy the pre-internet information dark ages as I did. It was fun.
@BillLehecka Oooohhhhhhh that would be fun. We could make it a contest.
@snapster It really does frighten me to think about the crap on a page about me.
Wikisource is one tab I always have open. It is basically a library of works that are no longer under copyright.
It helps to have a custom stylesheet so you don't destroy your eyes looking at it.
Reddit. I mod a pretty large sub over there (not telling you my username), which is a pretty good time suck while at work.
@Bogie awesome. so we have to guess the /r/?
@snapster There are a lot of subs out there... Good luck!
@Bogie haha I wish we could get on reddit, it was shutdown here for 'inappropriate content'
@snapster @bogie it's r/aprettylargesub. Mostly sandwich pics.
@DaveInSoCal It could also be a Red October fan page.
@Bogie r/wearenotmerrylarpers
@DaveInSoCal his username is hoagie
@Thumperchick @daveinsocal I'd say so close, but you're way off.
I also go to the Wikipedia, but in an absense of personal article, I binge read articles on history, biology and geography.
@wishod does it always lead you back to Philosophy?
@katylava Sometimes it does, and sometimes it leads me to Misogyny.

nothing's blocked here. When I have more than 30 minutes to sit at my desk, I tend to visit plug.dj.
I also spend a lot of time shopping for & daydreaming about a boat I want to buy. That is a current, and hopefully temporary thing though.
Downtime at work is spent doing my homework for Essentials of Mathematics and College Writing 101. 47 years old and I just now am starting college. Think I'm a little bit of a procrastinator?
@bluedog Congratulations!
@bluedog congrats. Just be sure to try to skip the school loans if you can… paying them back in retirement will be a drag.
@Kidsandliz Thank you for the congratulations! Thankfully no school loans. Going part-time, two nights a week. My company reimburses me 90% for tuition and books, as long as I pass the course. I figure it'll take me about 3 years to finish.

I color.
Daily Show and Colbert Report are free streaming from Comedy Central.
Totalbiscuit video game reviews tend to be on the long side.
Twit.tv for tech news.
Listen to my co-worker spout his latest conspiracy theory over the cubicle wall.
@SSteve has he already covered lizard people?
@JonT Just because someone has removable skin, a forked tongue, slit pupils, and a jaw that can open as big as his face, doesn't make us lizard peoplesssssssss...
@SSteve I've got a guy like that in my office, too. He's entertaining.

@curtise Sounds like hard work. Only 2 iPads?
