Fuckin rich asshole students in my town don’t throw away their food crap over summer vacation. When they got back, there was an army of rats that spread over the entire neighborhood. (These kill bugs not rats), hold the f on.
So, we were dealing with this rat problem. Long story short, we decided to poison those cute motherfuckers. None of this humane bs we tried before. We poisoned the fuck out of them.
These filthy rats died in our walls. Filled with maggots and the flies that followed.
Here’s where these are a good buy.
We posted these electric racquets on automatic and they killed hundreds of the birthing flies from those dead rat bodies. It was weeks, but those racquets burned away. At one point, I was concerned because I smelled burning downstairs. It was dead flies. I’d guess a couple dozen that were bursting from dead rat corpses in the walls. We vacuumed them up.
These work. Fuck those rats! Fuck those flies! Now? We’re pretty good for the past few months.

I like these, they aren’t that good at killing flying things in my experience but they’re kind of fun to make attempts with and their heart is in the right place. But I already got a couple. Probably from a previous meh sale. Pass

At first I didn’t think $29 for that Exterminator one you mentioned was that expensive and then I came across some at Walmart, 2 for $10. That’s just a little better than here but IF I was going to buy I’d buy from Meh just because, well, I like to spread the love, and support.
I’m not sure what happened to the one we had but it’s no longer MY JOB to get the little flying critters out.
TBT - my guy HATES to kill anything, he’s catch and release all the way! ME, not so much!
Buyer beware. Unlike a crappy, regular fly swatter, swinging these around can take out a lot things you don’t want to take out. Like vases, table lamps, your spouse who walked up so quietly behind you that you had no idea she was there when you were contorting yourself into a pretzel trying to hit THAT F***ING FLY!!

Yes, you can take out a lot of things when swinging one of these things around, like my shoulder, my wrist and my entire hand! It can be a workout in itself! Lol
I have, in the past, used a full size tennis racket for swatting carpenter bees intent on eating my lean to next to the shop. That works pretty well but unless you have a pretty good forehand/backswing it’s not always enough to kill them… just stun them. Upgraded to one I got from harbor freight years ago but it’s a bit of a PITA to keep d cell batteries around for it. Think I’ll try these and see how well they work.

Great on flies, mosquitoes and fruit flies. You can actually take a wasp out of the air, it won’t kill it outright, but it will stun it, rendering it flightless and ready for my shoe.
Downside—be ready to clean up the insect cemetary around the swatter stand.

They work OK on mosquitoes, gnats and smaller flies, but openings of the outer grid are too small to allow bigger flies/wasps/etc. to easily contact the inner wires and be zapped. (Sometimes if you can trap the big ones between the swatter and a surface, they will eventually make contact and fry. )

I wish my doggos could tolerate them- it’s been a banner [horrible] year for bugs…
Do these have a dedicated on/off switch which leaves the surface activated continuously, or do you have to hold a button down while you swing it to electrify it? That was one of my complaints about the HF one…

FWIW those cable straps are what I use to keep the push connector for my goldfish pond filter discharge hose in place. It kept wanting to pop off and that was sufficient to stop that problem.
Well, I decided to give these a try because of the price and no surprise, they don’t live up to the claims. Saw something flying around the house and figured it would be a good test of the battery life. Not sure if it actually gets to 3000V, but it definitely isn’t 2 hours or anywhere near 1200mAh. Given the short time I got out of it, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a fake cell with an even smaller one inside. At least I can easily replace or upgrade it later if I get bored.

Tried that but couldn’t find one that was the right dimension for the handle that wouldn’t slip off as I swung it around.
@chienfou @kuoh Velcro cable straps work pretty well, and don’t easily come loose (once you get the tighness right).
