OK - you ask us how we reached the site, Meh. Am I the only person actually opening your daily email and clicking “WTF is for sale today at Meh?” I don’t type no stinkin’ addresses - I just click damnit!
It depends on the day for me. Normally on work days I just type it in. If it’s later and I don’t get on a computer until after the Meh email is sent, sometimes I click on the link.
mostly just hit the saved meh ‘favorite’ button on my browser toolbar at home, meh stalker on the phone. At work (like now) it’s type in the addy in an incognito browser.
Question: "Why do we “go” to a website? When we make a phone call, we say we “called” the place, but we don’t “go” there. When we do something on Zoom, we may “attend” a meeting, but we don’t say “I went to a meeting.” (Or do you? Maybe it varies by where you are.) I also like to look at places using Google maps, then using Street View to wander around looking at the scenery, but I would never say I had “gone to” any of these places unless I had been there in person.
So I have this mental image of us all “at” Meh while the poor staff is trying to work. Of course, since we have usernames, we are all in costume or disguise, wandering around, getting in the way, and occasionally knocking something to the floor and breaking it. (With someone coming along behind, rescuing the remains and saying “Hmm. Another item to go in an IRK.” ) For info, I’m the one in the Ninja costume carrying a miniature trebuchet, which I occasionally place somewhere and launch gumballs randomly into the work area. But who are the rest of you?
It’s always the first email I open in the morning. If I get up before I get the email then I type in meh.com. For a long time woot was the first thing I checked in the morning too.
@f00l@Kyeh@ybmuG
California girl - actually always loved the song.
well that one too
in fact back when the public internet was new, and IRC was the thing, helped run a channel called #California and we used a slight rewording as an ‘in’ theme. we were one of the most popular channles on Undernet, often having 100+ non-bots in the channel at a time.
@f00l@ybmuG That depends almost exclusively on how often it is played where you live/work/etc. Have a friend who cannot stand Steve Miller’s songs because a local radio station played them multiple times a day every day the whole time he lived in that area. (I love Steve Miller, personally!)
@f00l@Kyeh@PooltoyWolf@ybmuG I also love the song. I have a karaoke friend who told me if you have to wait a long time to sing, pick a long song. That’s been my song ever since. I really like the Spanish version by the Gypsy Kings that introduces The Jesus in The Big Lebowski.
@f00l@Fuzzalini@PooltoyWolf@ybmuG
Okay, maybe a version by the Gypsy Kings would be the exception. I love them; I got to see them at Red Rocks a long time ago.
Nope, I do that too! Unless of course I remember to actually check the website on my own. Both of those things failing to occur on the same day is what costs me my streaks! Incidentally, if I click tomorrow, I’ll have broken my all-time high…

I have the window always open on my phone. I just click that tab and refresh for the day’s item.
I never leave

@ybmuG
@chienfou Thanks for the Dr. Paul Bearer flashback. I loved watching him and all his puns.
The old fashion way – meh.com on the address bar.
@narfcake But all that typing is so exhausting!
@narfcake I have it bookmarked, to save typing
leave a dedicated Meh window open in the browser. Is that the same as lurking?

Going to meh.com on my phone is one of the first things I do when I wake up. Takes me a few minutes to actually get up and moving.
@tnhillbillygal
since I work evenings (til after 2315 central time) it is usually one of the last things I do before hitting the rack.

@rockblossom I’m the grim reaper up in the racking, quietly sighing, waiting.
@RiotDemon @rockblossom
OTOH you do “go to sleep”…
@chienfou Doubly so if you are a somnambulist.
@chienfou @rockblossom
Uh oh.
/giphy slang
@rockblossom same reason why some of my co-workers say they are going to lunch. Lunch is not a destination, in my opinion.
@rockblossom I’m obviously the 6.5 foot tall blow up wolf with a paradoxical fascination with sharp objects.

I type it in the address bar, click on my saved favorite on my google homepage thing, or just use the app
@mbersiam there is an app?
@tinamarie1974 yes there is. Don’t ask me how I found out about it… I don’t remember. but it’s helpful during “thons”
@tinamarie1974 Oooh, they hate it when you say that
@compunaut well, I guess they can punish me
@compunaut @tinamarie1974
That, that, that, that, that, that, that…
There… that should really piss 'em off…
@tinamarie1974 Guess you’re looking forward to that
/youtube whip it good
@mbersiam @tinamarie1974 which one is the real one? Just tried finding it in the play store.
/image “you can check out any time you like but you can never leave”
@f00l great post…hate the song.
@f00l @ybmuG
UGH, me too! And it’s an ear worm.
@f00l @Kyeh trying really hard not to hear it in my head
@f00l @ybmuG Quick - think of something better! Luckily I currently have “Brave” by Sara Bareilles playing in my head; much preferable.
@f00l @Kyeh @ybmuG
/youtube hotel california
@Cerridwyn @f00l @ybmuG
NO NO NO!!!
@f00l @Kyeh @ybmuG
/youtube too late baby

@Cerridwyn @f00l @ybmuG Carole King is MUCH better!
@Cerridwyn @f00l @Kyeh i have heard a metal version of the song that must not be played. It is actually bearable
@f00l @ybmuG We can’t be friends!
@f00l @PooltoyWolf @ybmuG
Because you like it, or because you don’t?
@PooltoyWolf @ybmuG
I’m more into the song as a meme. As a song, so overplayed that it is beyond stale.
@f00l @Kyeh @ybmuG I unironically love the song. Grew up with it on local radio. It’s the kind of music that helped shape my life.

@f00l @Fuzzalini @Kyeh @PooltoyWolf karaoke - people singing bad songs badly. What’s not to love?

Use the bookmark I made.
Nope, I do that too! Unless of course I remember to actually check the website on my own. Both of those things failing to occur on the same day is what costs me my streaks! Incidentally, if I click tomorrow, I’ll have broken my all-time high…
@PooltoyWolf So did you remember to click?
@Kidsandliz I did! I’ve broken my old record and still counting!
Open new browser tab, click meh. It shows up automagically since it’s frequently used.
Every morning: Open browser. Scroll wheel click the handful of links on my bookmarks toolbar.
Clark Howard. Never heard of Meh until yesterday. Up popped deals on his site, leading to deals on this site. That’s a lot of deals…
I’m still right where I was, the website came to me. That’s what the IntarTubes are for!
I have Pinned tabs for 6 sites. meh is one of the 6.
