These are outdoor patio lights, and quite a bit more fancy & expensive than what one might put on a Christmas tree.
That said, it's definitely clear Woot have given up any illusion of offering good deals anymore. Hell, forget deals, they aren't even trying to be competitive. A quick search shows what looks like similar wire for about $10 less.
Apparently this is a common way to sell C7 light strings, bulbs and string separately. But $39 for a 100' cable is not much of a deal, it's comparable to the sites I saw on a google search. For example, 119' of C7 light stringer is $35.99 at regular price here:

Whether or not it's a deal is also dependent on the spacing of the sockets. If they're on 12", it's not a deal. If the sockets on that string are every 6", it's pretty solid.
That said, it's not a better deal than normal market pricing. Checked Amazon (which is just crazy) this string shows $38 with prime shipping.
Ok, firstly I had no idea that they were the big ones. I haven't heard of a c7 or a c9 but I was still shocked to see a string of lights for so high. Maybe they are always that high.. I don't use the out door kind but Wow! They do seeam to have lost that edge. Makes me wonder if every item over there should be shopped for price? Nah I am not going to do that. I now know the game Not a good deal site. Un-like MEH who has good stuff for great priceing. I like it just fine here!
@silverqueen They (Woot!) does occasionally have good deals and sometimes really good deals. But ALWAYS check your pricing. I'd say 90% of their offerings can be had at eBay for less, plus you won't pay tax or that pesky $5 shipping charge. Once in a while though... there's a gem in the rubble.
People still use incandescent xmas lights? LED is where it's at. I tossed my old C9 set years ago and use the mini LED lights now. I guess you can buy LED C7 bulbs, but at what price? Ouch.
