@Mehrocco_Mole It'll most likely be your first. You're a newbie until your package arrives at its destination and isn't utter trash. Nothing against you, but that's why that rule is in place.

@Mehrocco_Mole if you look at one of the last ones there were a few people that ruined it for the other new people. I'm glad j can get rid of some of this crap. :) (note it's not really crap. Well some of it is. I've had them boxed up for a while. But need to inbox and make sure that things didn't expire.

I didn't get the Chicago one that I thanked @pavlov for that interview when we were thanking him for things... those fools cancelled the search and decided they wanted someone with a different background - job redo went up today, and I am no longer qualified for it. Nice of them not to bother to tell me what they had done. I found out by calling HR to see where they were in the search. On the other hand it would have been the job from hell. And if I had gotten it I would have taken it anyway since I am desperate. Oh well. This is a better job. In a cheaper city.

@HELLOALICE thinking of cheap Shipping. I did some research on the way out meh-overlords ship. It's a bit cheaper than flatrate if it's not that far to go using fedex smart post. If you are shipping flatrate it's the same carrier method. Just fedex starts the process. It seems to be cheaper with a larger box than multiple smaller flatrate ones.

@HELLOALICE Staples has a 25% coupon for UPS shipping in the local ads, and presumably on their website as well for this week at least.

@dashcloud There's something very strange about that coupon. I snagged a copy from the website. The large coupon text says "25% off shipping services" but the fine print says "Excludes stamps, labels, and shipping services". I'm so confused.

@parodymandotcom It does say for in-store UPS shipping only, so I'm going to guess that's what the coupon is for, and the exclusions are for everything else. Since you can't use it online (the version I have), you'd have a very good chance in-store because the coupon would be pointless otherwise (and they wouldn't waste an ad spot on a pointless coupon).

@dashcloud Are you sure they wouldn't waste spot on an ad with a pointless coupon. I've seen pretty much useless... Example is Toys r us... They keep having a 15% off furniture coupon... But then it excludes special orders... Our Local Toys R us doesn't stock any furniture other than the kids sized chairs/some small tables all under $100.... So if you want to use it on a crib like the picture has... they deny it as it's a "special order"

@MrMark In the past people were randomly paired up. In that respect, once you got your random pairing, you knew who to expect a package from. Now things are done by random number generation with regenerations if people are paired up. Thanks for your input though, so helpful.

@Dadoboy @juststephen If it is inspected, it usually is sent on postage due. if it is refused it is returned to sender postage due. If the sender does not pay, it ends up in the mail recovery center (dead letter).

@speediedelivery do you think I could call usps, and say i was misinformed, and pay them? I don't want my person to think I'm sending them COD stuff (or want them to pay for it)

@Dadoboy I do not know if they would be able to catch it for you. It is likely on a truck headed for the next sorting center down the line from you. USPS charges to find and upgrade a package. You might be better sending a heads up to the recipient. If it arrives postage due, make it right then. The package may get through without inspection. The rules are the same everywhere but some areas check more than others.

@speediedelivery Thanks. I sent it pretty late and it was one of those drop off places that handles USPS, FEDEX,ect.. I called them and left a message saying that i wanted to pay a different rate.. Hopefully they haven't picked it up yet.. (Crossing fingers)

@Dadoboy Those places do not get normally get training from USPS. They usually charge a fee on top of the postage to make money.

It is easy to print your own label and ship from home or have it ready to drop off if you have a printer. Any scale that will do the weight works if you are not using flat rate boxes. If you buy a scale, it will pay for itself quick if you send a handful of packages.

I knew the dimensions and weights, so I printed it online.. it was about 12 dollars cheaper than what they wanted to charge me, but with the original postage, I really didn't save anything... @speediedelivery Easy peasey. First you buy an electronic cutting machine that is able to process SVG files.

Then you get some SVG files. There are lots of freebies and a couple of places that sell them. I get most of mine from SVGcuts.com.

Because they have video tutorials!

Here are some of the things I've done.

No special talents, I just follow directions. Until it comes to the glue. Glue doesn't like me messing with it.

Side note: I must apologize to my (and my wife's) recipients. I meant to ship today but had a sick kiddo. So he wanted extra daddy time. I promise I'm not a deadbeat exchanger! They are boxed up and everything! Actually. I'm going to crack them open again and add to them tonight ;)

@Pony I'm sorry it's taking me so long to take pics and post... I have no energy with the heat wave by the time the baby is in bed. I'm going to try my hardest to make time to take pics before I go to work tomorrow. If not. It'll be Saturday morning (hopefully)
