@Stumpy91 Yes while underway I can be scary, especially since the higher you get the further the masts pitch back and forth. I have a couple of “tall ship” pins I “earned” by climbing to the top of some Class A (these are the really big ones like in that video) ship masts during Harborfest - but they were docked so barely rocked at all. I did notice the (likely) guy wearing the camera did clip in once he reached the top. He was not clipped in as he climbed though.
@Kidsandliz A friend had a 37 foot catch up on Lake Superior. I was out sailing with him one weekend. While we were anchored one morning and it was quiet, he asked if I’d ride to the top of the 40 foot (or so) mast on a bosun’s chair and cut the ragged broken wire from a cable. It was cutting into the main sail. That was fun. I did take may (film) camera up and have a photo somewhere. It took place in the early '90s.
@CaptAmehrican -oops spelled your user name wrong (again) to flag you for this thread. This time left out the R and didn’t notice - serves me right for posting at that hour. Sorry about that.
Lot of friggin riggin!
High pucker factor watching that.
