Me, in a few days. I don’t have cable (or a TV), so my ritual the past few years was to watch at my parents’ house (only show I cared enough about to catch live; and my best friend and I would text each other the whole time…) but now that they’ve moved it to Tuesdays, I’m just not sure I can do it. Certainly can’t for the two-hour premiere.
Still looking forward to it though. Nerdgasms all around.
Ya know I have a love/hate thing about HCF… I mean I like that they are doing a period piece for that era… it needed to be done… but they are not putting the Mr. Robot level of detail into it I would really like. Also “they” (the core cast) sure jump around from breakthrough to breakthrough a lot I mean the odds of the same person being at the forefront of so many giant shifts… pretty hard to believe (especially if you understand how it all really happened).
I still watch it, but it annoys me at times… I like the cast… and I feel bad for them when they are written badly.
… also is Cameron Howe doing makeup ads? I swear the girl is one of them is her?
@thismyusername I watched the first 2 seasons and I’m not a techie so it was hard to get what was going on. I think it was on netflix, so I could keep rewinding it. I have an Analog brain in a DIGITAL world. Thanx for the reminder @OldCatLady.
@thismyusername While there is some nonsense, the relative level of accuracy for such a niche period piece is really quite astonishing IMO. Someone cares about this thing.
Regardless, the tech in-references are fun when you get them, but rarely crucial to the plot as long as you can grasp when something monumental happened…
@thismyusername So as it turns out I didn’t see the 2nd season. I going through a synopsis of the eps. on Wiki and realized I haven’t seen these. Anyway both 1st and 2nd are on netflix now.

There is such a thing as being able to reach out and touch Dallas, and visit Dallas, and appreciate Dallas, and yet not - ever in one’s life - being from Dallas. On purpose.
Friends and family -including former Uber drivers - all claim this behavior is far more common in Dallas than points west. This is my experience as well. Sometimes seems like Dallas is trying to be NYC, only it ain’t. FW is only trying to be FW - not such a bad thing, even counting various possible flaws.
@ruouttaurmind I saw his billboard ad in the opening scenes and wondered about it. He’s a devious, undercutting, unreliable, vicious SOB, but he’s cute.

@OldCatLady It’s a shame it didn’t work out between Joe and… was her name Sara Wheeler? There was potential there for her to lead him from the dark side.
@ruouttaurmind Oh, I thought she was just awful. It may have been the completely vacant way they presented her and their relationship… but there was never anything to hold on to there. I’d rather he wreck both his and Cameron’s life than spend another moment with that anechoic chamber.
@Yoda_Daenerys They had a completely accurate sequence showing installation of hardware as it was really done. I wear scars from cables, connectors, raceways, furniture, and way too many predatory fixtures!

I mean I swear I saw Cameron in an ad for covergirl? not getting much from a quick google so maybe not…
@thismyusername Yeah, it stretches the suspension of disbelief a LOT some times. But that final scene of S1? Still gives me chills, just amazing.

@growyoungagain
Try this:
Pretend things aren’t supposed to make sense. And sometimes, suddenly, they do. Or not. Either way, you’re cool.
@growyoungagain
Don’t worry… sometimes they are presenting nonsense… so it might not be your lack of tech
I do really like how they take the mad men approach to sets and prop materials… pretty accurate for the time… right down the Taco Flavored Doritos.

Traveling now. It should be waiting for me on DVR when I return this weekend. No spoilers.
Just curious- how many people in this thread are also from Dallas?

/image life is too short to live in Dallas
@f00l Technically the Clark family lived in Richardson, a detail from a deposition in one episode.
@OldCatLady Yeah, but to anyone outside the Metroplex, it’s all Dallas. Except Plano and points north. They can have their own.
@f00l I can smash bottles into my forehead on purpose, too.
@TRD
There is a geological fault running between Metromess East and Metromess West.
And everyone in Metromess West knows about it.

Ye know nothing of us.

Never heard of it, so no comments.
@Lurker but… but… but…
Thanks for reminding me to add this to my torrent list . . .
I do watch, haven’t started S3 yet though.
I got it on Monday afternoon, when it came out.
Just watched last night. I recorded the last couple episodes of last season & watched those first to remind myself what was going on.
Interesting developments afoot. When faced with a choice, Joe MacMillan can always be counted on to select the path of maximum scumbaggery.

Oooh. Ex-elf
/image Thranduil
never seen it.
i miss pushing daisies.
@katylava We all do.
I nearly forgot it was coming back! Thanks for the reminder.
Last nights twist was great.
@thismyusername night’s
@Yoda_Daenerys night is what?
@thismyusername possesive night, as in night owned the twist, not night is contraction
@Yoda_Daenerys the last few nights’ I have wondered about it being wrong.
@thismyusername i would have been ok with that one, if it was:
the last few knights’ swords have wondered about it being wrong.
can someone give me the TL;DR?
i’m trying to watch less and drink more, so need to determine priorities
@Yoda_Daenerys not until they enable the spoiler tag
@thismyusername Thank you for that!
/giphy applause

@OldCatLady sorry, i am totally lost
@Yoda_Daenerys
Drink more, if you wanna get found.
/giphy burp
@Yoda_Daenerys Technically it’s a historical series, complete with costumes, food and a great set. It’s so recent that many have a problem seeing it as a separate era. https://medium.com/@JEB54/versions-of-history-on-dallas-computers-amcs-halt-and-catch-fire-e741432f604f#.86rvsor90
@OldCatLady thx for that link
@OldCatLady more historical fiction or pseudohistory …btw that is a great article.
