Honestly I didn't even know they had made a Halo 4. I vaguely remember 3 at... some point, like, 10 years ago, maybe? And then they made some other random crap and stuck the name on it, because name? I dunno, never got what made the franchise popular.
@nogoodwithnames It was popular because it was the first halfway decent FPS for consoles since Goldeneye came out on the N64. It was still only halfway decent, but the console people didn't know any better.
@kadagan yeah, combat evolved (#1) was on PC. #2 made it also, but it was kinda overlooked because it was a meh port, and it came out something like three years after the xbox release. None of the others have made it to pc (at least not officially).
@kadagan@Zeriphaes yeah, I guess the first two made it to PC; I forgot about that. Still doesn't make any sense that they wouldn't put the others out for PC as well. Especially Reach, since it was the only one that had a really compelling story, and probably would have sold pretty well with on the PC.
Loved Halo 1 and 2 on PC. Got really into the backstory at one point. Read all the books. Waited for Halo 3 to come out on PC. Waited and waited.... still waiting.
@cjrhoades Halo 3 ignored almost everything from the books that wasn't in the games, flat out contradicting them at points. It was like they were trying to tick the readers off.
Ever since Microsoft bought the best Mac game developers (Bungie) and turned them into mundane wintel/xbox drones... Halo has just been a sad sad thing. A haunting echo of what might have been. Meh.
@duodec Bungie would still be a nobody if Halo hadn't come out on the XBox, because Apple still has a minuscule PC market share, and even less when it comes to games. Unless they ended up developing iPhone/iPad games, which is a fate worse than death as far as I'm concerned. Hell, I never knew Bungie existed before XBox until a few years ago when they re-released Marathon.
I'll check it out at some point, probably not in the first month it comes out. I really hate playing fps games on a computer. I work on a computer all day, no way I want to spend my free time clicking. I already feel like I'm fucking up my wrist as it is. I don't play many games any more anyway. I was always into Halo when I was in high school. Ever since Bungie sold it off I've been much less interested.
@RedHot pc gamers like to cheat. It's easier to alter code on a computer. Also easier to get an unfair advantage over competition if you're willing to spend a ton of dollars on hardware and peripherals. Consols are a more even playing field and pc gamers can't hack it when it's fair.
@RedHot@medz But FPS games blow on consoles...the sticks are so slow and imprecise. Actually, almost all games are better on PC...the only things that are better on a console are Mariokart and WWE.
I haven't bought an XBone yet and probably won't just for the sake of playing Halo 5. Which is a bummer since I've been playing Halo since the beginning (and Marathon befoore that). I'll wait until well after it's out.
Implies that I am into other games of the general ilk, just not this one or its specific genre.
Nope, not into spending hours a day gaming anymore
Implies that I had a "gaming" phase.
What the hell is a "Halo 5"?
Implies that I'm culturally illiterate.
Fuck you, @mediocrebot. You are an asshole. I've never been what I would call a "gamer" (unless Cards Against Humanity and Balderdash and Gin count), but, old, fossilized specimen that I am, I'd have to be living under a rock to not know what it is. I admit, all of the dumbass commercials for video games that I have to endure when I should be watching trailers in the theater are making that rock look awfully damn attractive.
I will buy it on day one out of a weird sense of obligation I have to the series, even though I know it probably won't be what I would like for it to be. I was obsessed with Halo 1 and 2, and after that I cared a lot less and played a lot less, but still have to buy every one when it comes out. MCC was great (when it worked) and though the Beta was fun, I will probably just go back to Halo 1-2 multiplayer in MCC after a couple weeks.
Don't own an Xbone and not interested.
@Fej Ditto. I own all the other halos (have an OG XBox and 360), but I'm not getting a 'bone.
Will be on PC?
Interested, but sticking with the 360 for awhile. Excited to see if cortana will be restored in some fashion.

No "other answer in the forums" this time?
Anyway, the Halo series might be alright if they were on PC, but they're confined to XBox, and all consoles suck, so Meh.
@Dweezle I'm sure that I played the first one on PC.. But I don't recall playing any of the others there.

No local multiplayer kills it for me. Pass.
@SethReineke Ah, the memories of Halo 2 in the dorm... LAN cables lining the halls, 8+ xboxes all linked together. Total mayhem :)

@simplersimon Kinda like every game or movie ever made that was derived from a book?
@RedHot too true. I just expected more due the books being tie-ins that bungie made a big deal about approving.
@RedHot Good thing the game came before the book
Ever since Microsoft bought the best Mac game developers (Bungie) and turned them into mundane wintel/xbox drones... Halo has just been a sad sad thing. A haunting echo of what might have been. Meh.
@duodec Well, Bungie has put out another game, and it's not just on XBox. I am, sadly, very addicted to it.

Halo yuck, so not fun.

@RedHot use a controller!
@Lotsofgoats then why bother with the computer?

Is it a good time to pick up Halo 1 cheap?
I liked 1 & 3, but not enough to get an Xbox One.
Love the Halo games, but I am not going to spend $400 on an XBOne just for them..
I don't partake in filthy console gaming.
Also, the blessed Steam sale is going on. Trying to not spend all my monies.
Let's examine these negative options, shall we?
Implies that I am into other games of the general ilk, just not this one or its specific genre.

@joelmw After reading your comment I am guilty of googling the game "Balderdash and Gin" because I would totally play that
@Einherjar13 That would be fun. :-)
I need an "I love Halo; however, Destiny came out and I went PS4 instead of XBOX One so I cannot play Halo" option.
After the mega fail that was the Halo video project, I don't want to hear the word Halo ever again.
@MEHcus I see what you did there.
Even as a failure, I think what you guys did was way better than some silly old shoot 'em up video game.
Was apart of the Beta in the winter. Cautiously excited after MCC.
I'll wait for Halo 10. The last Halo ever. Spartan As A Service.
I will buy it on day one out of a weird sense of obligation I have to the series, even though I know it probably won't be what I would like for it to be. Not really into Halo, but I'm all in with Batman: Arkham Knight. So, so excited to play.
