Great that the blender has a power spec., which is largely useless, and the kettle, where the power pretty much defines how long it will take to heat, does not.

What do these photos always Photoshop the cords out?? It’s so dumb. Why make me go looking if there’s a cord or not? Just keep the dang cord in the photo, sigh.
So price aside, a kettle like this with precise temp control for up to 2 hrs sounds like a nano-sized homebrewing setup to me (should net 3-4 12oz bottles or 2 bombers). That’s small enough that you could run a few test batches with slight tweaks to the recipe and work out ideal proportions for hops, grain bill, etc… without having to commit to a traditional batch volume of beer.
I wouldn’t actually use this offering to do the idea above, but thanks Meh for getting my creative juices and perennial optimism flowing for what is an otherwise very meh sale.
@SaintO Interesting idea, but the major flaw would be cooling post boil while avoiding hot side aeration. dunking a boiling hot glass carafe into an ice water bath usually doesn’t end happily.
Why does the write-up say up to 210F but the specs say 212? Those 2 degrees are important! (right? I think) Since water doesn’t boil until 212, and also that’s where you brew some black teas…
I’m not overly fond of the “Carla Hall” branded kettle I got from Meh last year. It’s fine, but kinda small, ugly, and the controls are counter-intuitive.
Trying to decide whether to pull the trigger on this one. It’s definitely bigger, and looks much nicer. Is it worth the risk to get one that doesn’t work as well as the CH?
@Karstan In the unlikely event anyone comes looking for information in this thread for a future sale of this item: It’s everything I dreamed of and more. Boils fast, easy to use, large-ish capacity, no weird programming like the CH one. Has a nice lid that pops up when you push a button with your thumb (so one-handed use). I’ve purchased about 6-7 kettles over the last 10+ years trying to find “the one” and I think this is it!
Is “Dark Brushed Stainless Steel” really a color? Not sure the IMOA would agree (and we all know, “Molybdenum is essential for all human, animal and plant life.”).
Who cares about maintaining temperature… Most people just want a kettle that boils and then shuts off. This one doesn’t even list the power. Will it work with my Jackery? With my meh JVC power station? With my meh Kenwood battery pack?
This actually is a decent deal, presuming the electric kettle and immersion blender are decent. Typical pricing for a COSORI mostly-glass kettle (which I find the benchmark for OK) is $25 and an OVENTE (a little below OK) is about $15.
