Halloween Movies
7I’m all for starting Halloween off early!
I ordered a Funko Pop Halloween countdown calendar a while back. Movies are one of the best parts of Halloween in my opinion, and now I have 13 little movie characters to open up. I hope to watch all the movies too so it’s a good thing I didn’t wait until the middle of October.

Wooooohooooo!
Here’s the calendar- the box
And the inside.
DAY 1:
@sammydog01 TINY FREDDY KRUGER! They showed A Nightmare on Elm Street at Regal Theaters last year. It was so much fun! Amazing movie and the 80s clothing was a scream!
@sammydog01 Freddy is awesome!
Story time.
When I was a teenage idiot and dating another teenage idiot, we would go to blockbuster and pick out movies from the horror section that looked shitty and watch them. We would laugh at the absurdity.
Eventually he made me watch all the Friday the 13th movies that were available at the time and I agreed if afterwards we watched The Nightmare on Elm Street movies. We watched the first nightmare movie and then he refused to watch the rest.
I was so damn salty because the Friday movies got so damn annoying that it wasn’t even fun to laugh at them anymore.
This concludes my story time.
POPSOCKETS! ROAD ROCKETS! SONNY CROCKETT! AWESOME!
@sammydog01 Johnny depp in a crop top?
/image Johnny depp nightmare Elm Street
@RiotDemon I liked Nightmare a lot better because it’s a better story. Fall asleep and die? Scared the crap out of me. Serial killer? Meh.
I may have to cough up $2.99 to watch it again. Worth it.
@sammydog01 Freddy was just funny with his lines.
@sammydog01 In 2018 Tampa Theatre did a marathon of the first 6 Nightmare on Elm St. movies. Started at 10 am on a Saturday. I was so glad they remodeled the year before and put in new seats.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 At least you avoided watching the second one. The rest are good.
@sammydog01 ahh so cute
@RiotDemon @sammydog01
I love nightmare it’s one I actually enjoy watching, Halloween terrified me for years but that another story. Anyways, I had to a surgery and I’m so dam hard to knock out (Mind your I’m tiny 5’3”, 128lbs) the dr had to give me double the sedation stuff, then after the surgery I was in a lot of pain and taking the max of pain meds. So nighttime come and I go to sleep and have a dream Similar to the context of Freddy killing you in your sleep and if you die in your sleep your dead. So I wake up and stay up the rest of the night. I’m also staying with my mom this weekend bc my boyfriend had to go out of town. So the next night my notices me acting really weird about going to sleep and makes me tell her what’s going on, I made her sleep on the floor in the room and still didn’t sleep for the second night in a row bc I was to scared and paranoid. So the sedation medicine is still in my system and bc I won’t sleep I’m just becoming delusional myself. The next day my mom forced a valium and a glass of wine down my throat and I fell asleep and woke up a completely different person. So it’s been a big joke any time I’ve had to be put under anytime since then.
@sammydog01 My dad introduced me to scary movies at an age I really don’t think he should have but somehow didn’t end up all screwed up because of it, one thing was they didn’t really scare me because in my mind what was happening was all fictional and never stuck with me. Until Nightmare on Elm Street. After watching the first one I was legitimately fucked up for a couple weeks. The whole premise of dying in your sleep or being awake terrified me and took a while to get over.
@yakkoTDI How much popcorn did you eat?
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @Star2236
The next day my mom forced a valium and a glass of wine down my throat and I fell asleep and woke up a completely different person
OMG wrong movie entirely. You were Invasion of the Body Snatchers’d by your Mom!
@duodec @RiotDemon @sammydog01
If that was the case I would have woke up a stepford wife and a nice charming daughter lol
Omg that calendar is so stinkin cute! You will need to show us pics of your daily prize!!
@tinamarie1974 We should goat her so she has to make a thread daily.
@ELUNO gas she NOT been goated yet? That is a great idea
@ELUNO @tinamarie1974 she has a dead goat badge.
@CaptAmehrican @tinamarie1974 We can regoat her. Dead goat coming back to life. The Zombie Goat. Perfect for Halloween!
@CaptAmehrican @ELUNO @tinamarie1974 Sorry guys, you can find a better goat. And I only have 12 little Pops left so it will be next week. But if anyone wants to post a movie that would be awesome!
POPSOCKETS! ROAD ROCKETS! SONNY CROCKETT! AWESOME!
Day 2:
How freaking cute is the kid from Beetlejuice in her wedding dress?
@sammydog01
/image I myself am strange and unusual
@sammydog01 Few women could believably carry off being a Funko Pop, but Winona Ryder does it.
@sammydog01 I actually thought it was Elvira, but a Google image search doesn’t really show any red dresses other than a Christmas-themed picture.
Note: I don’t really watch (or care to watch) Halloween-themed or horror movies. I have semi-watched Halloween: H20 and a couple other horror films but only because my coworker on overnights (previous job) brought them; I didn’t really pay a whole lot of attention to them.
@mossygreen @sammydog01 A lot of Funko Pops are hard to recognize (superheroes in costume excepted), but I spotted that as Lydia right off. I’m sure the fact that I watched Beetlejuice just a few nights ago had nothing to do with it.
@sammydog01 @ThunderChicken Totally unrelated, a complete coincidence!
I forgot to post last weekend’s- HERE’S JOHNNY!
You may ask why Jack is leaning against a tub of moisturizer. It’s because he has teeny tiny feet and I can’t get him to stand up. I liked the advent calendar ones better. Still he’s pretty cool.
@sammydog01 bust out your 3D pen and make some snow for him to stand in!!
@RiotDemon It worked- I might make stands for all of the little guys.
@sammydog01 ooh it looks great! I’m glad you did it. you could do themed ones. Like a little manhole cover or a sewer grate for Pennywise.
I’m behind on my calendar. Here’s Pennywise. He’s creepy. Complete with beaver hat. Awesome movie!
@sammydog01 Bill Skarsgård is so fucking good in this.
And Kiefer Sutherland from The Lost Boys. We just watched that- another winner.
@sammydog01 maybe a bat-shaped stand for this little guy.
Been following this. This is fun.
@Targaryen I wish it was 24 instead of 13.
@sammydog01 @Targaryen it is fun. I’m just still coming to grips that they’ve made a Halloween advent calendar (???!!!)
@Targaryen @ybmuG They’ve made a jibbitz calendar for Croc Day too. It’s October 23rd if you didn’t know.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I worked student security patrol for a couple years that covered the annual rocky horror picture show… But never saw it. We mostly wandered around making sure the drunks got home and didn’t freeze to death. Or… Other things in dark spots.
Somehow a pair of girls who chose saran wrap as their costume got off campus and arrsted by the county for I think drunk and disorderly. I can only assume they took a taxi. Or lived off campus.
And today is little Regan from The Exorcist, complete with pea soup stains. Great movie!
And another thing I love:
IT’S JASON!
@sammydog01 looks like your lost boy fell over. Why the heck do they make their feet so small?
@RiotDemon The Christmas ones had round circles for feet but these are more detailed. I’m not sure which ones I prefer.
Beetlejuice! I really like the one they picked out.
The more sharp eyed of you may notice that the only ones still not tipped over are Jack because he has a stand I made and Lydia because her veil hits the ground. And that I really need to dust.
The calendar is awesome.I also watch horror movies and want to recommend A Quiet Place. Totally enjoyed this one and I pray they make a sequel!
PANS! GLANDS! CRAYONS! AWESOME!
@kostenann sequel is already in the works.
@kostenann @RiotDemon I saw previews for it! I hope it comes to theaters.
@kostenann @RiotDemon @sammydog01 Release date is April 23, 2021
The first one was great!
In 1990 Warner Bros. released a film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book The Witches. It’s a fun film that I always forget how much I enjoy until I watch it.
This month HBO Max released a reimagined version of The Witches directed by Robert Zemeckis and rewritten by Zemeckis and Guillermo del Toro.
I haven’t watched the new version yet, but it’s on my to-do list for tonight. Anyone seen it yet?
Dang. Who wants to share their hbo login with me?
I didn’t realize Anne Hathaway played the role of the grand High Witch. Great makeup and CG. Octavia Spencer is Grandma (but I can’t look at her without seeing the creepy Ma character). Stanley Tucci as the hotel manager is a perfect fit. Kristin Chenowith voices the role of Daisy with one of the worst put-on 'bama accents I’ve ever seen in a film.
Overall, it was fun to see how Zemeckis would “reimagine” the story, but it’s not divergent enough to be a companion film, and not good enough to be a replacement for the original. Don’t buy a month of HBO Max just for this film.
I GOT BEHIND ON POSTING! So here’s the next four:
Annabelle the creepy doll
Audrey II the homicidal plant
The Nun aka Valak
Pennywise with his red balloon
I think Audrey II is my favorite of the month. Why the second Pennywise? It’s almost identical to the first.
ONE MORE TO GO!
@sammydog01 balloon is more iconic than the hat I think. That is surprising.
@RiotDemon Maybe part 1 and 2?
The door for the last day was double wide!
