@sohmageek I'm kind of a big deal...people know me. My time is valuable and scarce, yes, however the exchange was promised and I my word is my bond.

Also I know I haven't been around long enough to get a nice k. But once I found out about here. Well I think the community is great. And there are a few of you guys I recognize faster than others. :)

@sohmageek I joined woot back in 2009...since then ive probably got about 6. I wasnt a fanatic by any means but i was really active on the deals.woot side of things. It was shortly after a rough patch regarding a pirate treasure hunt called crapgate that we decided to make a change. Hence the crap exchange.

@studerc apparently I joined woot in 08 (had to check). Didn't buy anything till late 09 but was never active in the forums. I had heard of the crap but thought it was a myth till a few years ago. In that time I've purchased 16 things from woot (I didn't check it often and didn't have decently livable wage till about 2011) of the 16 6 were box of craps. And if you look at the last 10 since last year only 4 are non crap. Still 1 of the fukubukuros was much better than all of the craps together.

@studerc how many are you doing?

@sohmageek I usually do three. I accumulate quite a bit of crap and my meager teacher salary keeps me in check

@sohmageek Weight, size and distance all can make a difference in the cost. There is no easy straightforward answer without some details. i can answer USPS questions.

@speediedelivery If you can answer USPS questions... off topic what's the best way to ship beer? I've been told not USPS, but I'm sure you can give advice on how else to transport it :)

@sohmageek I do not know of a legal way for an individual to ship beer. USPS does not allow it although I have heard they are working on changing the laws.

@sohmageek I use this to check rates when I'm shipping packages to friends. http://www.ebay.com/shp/Calculator. Someone may be able to suggest a better one but this is good to get a general idea (look at the online prices).

@Nikodemus Glad you enjoyed it. I felt it was a slick alternative. Hopefully it works well.

@Odi Ya, I'm onboard for that one. Should be a restriction that neoprene sleeves can be used as packing material only! ;-)

@juststephen usually the norm is for people to send out packages within a week of finding out their recipients...thus I would say most packages will be sent by Apr. 12th

@Stallion Mine's definitely not scary. There's nothing gunky or messy or horrifying about it. But, if you wish, I could add a few things that might be unpleasant or unsightly, perhaps even plain horrifying. However, I believe that I'll stick to the stuff I've put in there already. :) I still have boxes to go through though, so we'll see what else I find to add. I am still looking for my scale to weigh it with, where that went, I have no idea.

@juststephen Just checked my receipts, and I don't see any extra charges on there. And if you already have a shipping label, it's definitely free to drop off because I've done that lots of times.

@j8048188 by "they" I assume you mean me. Yes there is a ban list at the moment and many steps have been taken to neutralize the issues.

@Kidsandliz Most post offices will not have that box available. It can be ordered free from the USPS website. There are several box sizes available online that most post offices do not normally have locally.

@on I suppose if the person who's participating gets your username/info and see's this thread, they'd know to make it SFW for you. I'll say in advance: Anything I send will be safe for work. I don't own anything that's not.

@on I guess you could leave a note with @studerc , and hopefully he'll be able to pass it along to the people sending you stuff.

@lumpthar The vast majority of what I'm sending isn't from BOC's. That kinda stuff even I wouldn't send - horrible luck with BOC's these days.

@wildmomo You generally don't, unless your person posts enough stuff on the forums that you have a sense of what they like. Otherwise, just try your best.

@dashcloud I google searched my person on a whim since they didn't use an actuall name but just the meh name. While I didn't see them in the forums, she is a lifecaster with a twitter feed. A litttle stalker like but was fun to see the stuff sent commented on an a video made of it :)

@juststephen I'm at a loss right now. I wanted to fill a bigger box. But when I get down to it. If I pack it just right. I can fit it in a usps if it fits it ships large box... Well mostly.

@studerc I'm glad to hear you're recovering! I hope things continue to get better! Maybe the best bet is to send a mass email and ask people to respond within a certain amount of time if they want to participate. Anyone who doesn't respond would have to wait for the next exchange.. Just a thought.

I've been single dad for the past 2 weeks until my wife comes home from Texas (grumbles wanted to go with her and see the land of meh... And other things in Texas...) but I digress. I have gained a lot more respect as to how hard it is.

@studerc Glad you are on the mehnd. I think the interest is still there. Once the baby comes along you area not going to have a moment. I suggest you do as @kadagan said and send out an email with a respond by date to judge interest. Then hopefully before the baby comes you can send out the who gets from who detail email. Once that is done I think you can run this on autopilot.

@kadagan @readnj The mass email suggestion is going to be more stress and time on @studerc part, taking email responses and cross referencing them on the spreadsheet. If you guys insist on a mass email, it should be a mass email to let everyone know that because of the delay, the slate has been wiped clean and they need to sign up at a new form by said "respond by date". It would accomplish the same thing but be much less stressful and time consuming. I personally think that he should just go ahead with the current list, with the baby coming any week now. It doesn't really matter to me if the person sending to me is out and can't send it for a few weeks.

@studerc Once you have the baby you'll have more time. Sure you'll have to do everything one handed and at 3am in the morning. I've been way more active online since my second child came in February. Oh and a piece of unsolicited advise, not sure if it was you or not so if it is not ignore this, I recall seeing a picture of a crib on here filled with crap and baby bumper around the crib....take all that stuff out, should just be crib, mattress and fitted sheet. Buy a few swaddlemes and you'll be set for a few months

@studerc Glad you're on the mend! Don't push yourself- maybe the exchange should be put off for a little bit? Whatever you decide to do, I am still interested. Got a pretty decent box all ready to go. :)

He does this with no benefit to himself and sometimes life gets in the way. Just saying call this one off and start fresh as soon as he has time.
