@Thumperchick On an episode of Next Iron Chef, one of the contestants had to start from beginning in the middle of a challenge because something flopped. When he was asked what he was going to do, he said he was going to do such-and-such. “It’s a trick I learned on this show called Good Eats”
(paraphrased)
@RiotDemon Yep – showing a brand name is like endorsing the product with no returns.
Company didn’t have to pay.
Other companies may not want to advertise because now you’re “endorsing” someone else’s product.
Other legal aspects I’m probably unaware of.
I do recall seeing a good number of Ralph’s (a regional grocery store) blue stripe generics in TV shows back in the days.

I hear that Alton’s a bit crotchety in person. If he keeps that out of the show’s revival then I will legally follow this new series to the ends of the Earth!
If he doesn’t, well, I’ll just feel twinges of guilt for questionably downloading and watching the show. Because I can never learn too many ways to cook popcorn, potatoes, or chicken.
My go-to recipe of his is the sour cream cheesecake. I have made his carrot cake and loved that as well.
My only problem has been that some of his recipes take forever. His steak cooking method from Good Eats Reloaded takes over an hour. But it might be the best steak I’ve ever had.
@mike808 There are 2 different shows out… Good Eats Reloaded has episodes from the original series that have been updated with new/better versions of the recipes that were on those episodes. There are 12 episodes out so far.
The show @RiotDemon is talking about is Good Eats The Return. Only 1 episode is out so far (and was released early).
This man taught me to cook. I’m glad he’s back.
@Thumperchick seriously. I’ve learned so much from him.
@Thumperchick I knew some basics, but I got interested in doing it on a regular basis because of Good Eats.

@Thumperchick I mean. He didn’t go away. It’s the show that’s back.
@ChadP this is true. I had an odd fangirl moment when he replied to a fudge making fail of mine on twitter a few years ago.
@ChadP
@ChadP @Thumperchick The advice was noted, but not followed by anyone
I’m glad to see he’s still using Publix store brand ingredients.
Granted, it’s probably just because it’s easier to hide the brand. Just cover the little circle and it looks like a generic item.

@Club33NOS Is there more than just the first episode out?

@mike808 @msklzannie @RiotDemon
this episode, and Episode 2 air @ 10, and 10:30p(eastern) this sunday(8/25) on Food network.
he’s said he’ll make more than this new season if the rating s are there… then food network puts it @ 10pm on Sunday night…
Well, I know what we’re having for dinner tomorrow night! Thanks, RiotDemon!
This just came up in my Google feed. Now I’m more intrigued as it’s obviously NOT Good Eats Reloaded

@llangley though, reloaded has been renewed for a second series.
was it just me, or did anyone notice this on the counter in the new kitchen set?
upon tertiary viewing, it’s not exactly the same unit…same style…but…
