Our lineup this year:

- Mac n Cheese
- Brussels Sprouts (With bacon and parmesan.)
- Sweet Potatoes (The kind you bake with brown sugar and butter, not the mashed marshmallow kind.)

- Rolls
- Pumpkin Pie
- Pecan Pie
- Chocolate Pie
ETA - cranberry sauce. According to my niece we can’t make our own, only the canned stuff counts

Meh
Depends on if I’m lazy or not
Don’t celebrate it so sometimes I go out and sometimes I just eat whatever
And instead of brown sugar, use pie spice
Read the title as “Goebbels” and wondered what the hell the Nazis had to do with Thanksgiving.
@Pavlov Thought i saw “goblins”, then blinked and read “goblets”.
homemade cranberry chutney is wonderful but good to have the canned type too!
What are salt potatoes?
@Star2236 literally just small potatoes boiled in heavily salted water. When you drain them and let them sit, salt crystallizes on the surface of the potatoes. They are especially an upstate NY thing
@Star2236 @ybmuG Interesting. How heavy on the salt?
@blaineg @Star2236 maybe 1.5-2 cups for 4-5 pounds of potatoes. If you use Kosher salt use more, table salt less.
Here’s a decent recipe

Couple keys:
You can even find bags of salt potatoes in grocery stores here that include a packet of salt. I prefer choosing my own, but it does make it easy. Popular for clam bakes.
@blaineg @Star2236 @ybmuG I like the origin story!
@blaineg @Kyeh @ybmuG
I read that story before but I never read it related to a recipe. I’m gonna have to try that next time I buy miniature potatoes.
@Star2236 @ybmuG
…and very tasty with butter!
@PhysAssist @Star2236 Eat them like poor man’s lobster!
@Star2236 @ybmuG
The article said that it [the butter] should be melted, but I like it cold and eat each bite of potato with a small pat of the cold butter.
I’m pondering a turkey breast from the family owned BBQ joint at the end of the street.
They do whole dinners too, but aimed at 10-20 people and there’s just two of us.
@blaineg Do it!
@blaineg @ybmuG
/giphy do it
@blaineg Sounds like 8 to 18 people’s worth of leftovers.
@blaineg @mikey Depends on how many escape before they can be divided up.
Timing is everything.
Gonna try one of Arby’s turkey sammichs this year
Reservations! At one of the Louisiana Casino Steak houses. It’s just the three of us; Sister, mom and me. Niece spends t-day with her dad. This is also the first thanksgiving without my Dad. My sister is already making it weird. Dad loved pumpkin pie. I hate it so Sis made it for him every year. He was the only one that liked it. Although we joked that he liked a side of pie with his whipped cream since he covered every piece until it was no longer visible. Even though no one is going to eat it, Sis is still making a pumpkin pie.
@ironcheftoni She should donate it to someone who’d actually appreciate it.
