Go Benchmark Yourself Sequel
6For those few of you who did the previous run-through I have a part 2 for you.
Do it again under similar circumstances (same time/amount of rest etc) with one small change. Do it under the influence of something. Energy drink, a beer, handful of candy corn, etc. Choose something that might slow you down, speed you up, give you more alertness. Then share your scores and see if anything changes.

Benchmark on MS. I can’t do a baseline without, unfortunately (no time machine, see). I submit my scores so everyone, hopefully can feel great about their own!
Ooh, I wonder if this is blocked at work… Might get to try on an actual computer later.
Oops forgot to post my first run through scores.
Here are my first set of scores.
I’ll do it again this weekend probably have a beer or two and see what the result is.
@Targaryen Alright update had some wine and a beer. Here is the result.
@Targaryen interesting! I’m assuming in some categories you actually did better because you’ve seen the tests before… and your score would of naturally gone up even higher if you hadn’t drank.
@RiotDemon @Targaryen No, I think it just wasn’t enough wine…or beer…or both.
It gave me fits trying to do it on mobile the first time, I’ll try to remember to get on a computer and do it because I’d really like to.
@djslack Yeah it’s nothing official but it’s kind of fun seeing in one shot what where you stand.
@djslack so this was late Friday night.
I tried again Saturday late morning after a couple cups of coffee, but I noticed two things: It seemed to be averaging the scores with the previous test, and I didn’t have the patience to take more than about three tests before I gave up and left. I’ll have to clear cookies and try again.
I also noticed that moving from Safari on a Mac to Chrome on PC brought my reaction time scores down by 40-60ms when I tried on PC today while trying to fix my phone. I think that might just be a browser performance issue, but not sure. I got low 220s on PC.
I finally got to try on a computer.
The typing test sucks. I normally type closer to 95 wpm but I can’t tell where the cursor is when I make a mistake, so I kept making mistakes, lol. I have no excuses for anything else except that I’m at work and not relaxed.
I’ll try again on another day after I succumb to drinking some caffeine.
@RiotDemon Yeah it’s interesting to see even if unofficially how various things work on you.
@RiotDemon I agree about the typing. I would start off in the low 100s (which seems generous, I don’t think I type that fast) and when I make a mistake and start seeing red just get flustered and have to stop to pick back up. I wonder what it would count if I just kept going without trying to correct any mistakes. Surely it penalizes for inaccuracy, so you’ve got to at least get back on track.
Meh… Discovered the major problem with the typing test is that I’m too old for it. Primarily because it’s now become the standard to single space after a period and I automatically double space, so I have to correct it each time. I normally type close to 110 wpm. Back in the day I temped for a bit and they kept trying to make me a secretary because of my typing.
@cinoclav Same I learned as a double spacer, I try to catch myself but I it’s a hard habit to break. Nice scores, though.
It’s interesting if you look through people’s scores seeing how different everyone’s abilities are.
I was straight-across 97%. Funny, I just can’t seem to get the picture to upload…
@ybmuG They will be sure to test for that in the new picture-uploading activity coming soon

How’d I do?
