@akparker777 Fair. And just like when I bought those $2 (?) 30-pin docks that came with Bluetooth dongles, I’m scared if I see the Martian’s for any cheaper with the “guarantee”, I’ll be in for one of those, too.
Not these turds again! I bought one last time it was DOA. Manufacturer refused to pay shipping to return it. So I payed and guess what it took 3 returns to get one that worked. After you pay to ship back the first one they will pay to have dead turds they send as replacements. I kinda feel like they were hoping you’d just shit can the first dead one.
@thomasbihn Hey i have an idea. Scribe the letters MEH on the inside of the lid then send it back. It will be like a game of hiding rocks. Any other MEH customer that gets it has to number the scribe mark and send it back, it will be fun!
Finally! Been waiting for one of these to come around since I bought the Chefman Sous Vide Precision Cooker on here! Let’s cook all the things!!! OK apparently “/buy” only works at the beginning of posts, as does other commands, so here comes a reply to my own post!
Love the smaller one I bought here, without the roll holder. So much easier to put away, and works great. This one would have to be left on the counter as it would be to bulky to take in and out of a cabinet for us. If you’ve been thinking about buying one, they’re worth it.
@Felyne You chose wisely! I tried a deluxe-ass one from Costco before buying the basic model here.
The automatic pinchy-grabby part is finicky, creates huge wasteful margins, and doesn’t allow you to make snack-sized bags using vertical seals. The built in cutting strip is nice, but you don’t ever just have one roll, so the storage bin is pretty pointless.
I have a shorter one but got one of these a while back. I like it.
With the other I was buying pint and quart bags because i suck at cutting rolls straight. The cutter in this one does it for me. Now I just occasionally suck at cutting the right length.
With this one is also a little easier to get the bag aligned and clamped.
Bought this same unit here, at the same price, back in 12/16. Works quite decently, although juicier items don’t always seal 100%. And you’re never going to fit replacement bag rolls into that tiny compartment… just keep them externally and slide the end under the cutter bar.
A great match with my Chefman sous vide – a Meh-riffic sealer and cooker for under $100.
@borisgoodenough I roll back the lip so I don’t get the edge wet, and I put wet stuff in the freezer in an unsealed bag for a while before sealing it. That helps.
Some people put a piece of paper towel or something to just inside the seal line to catch the juices, but I haven’t tried that yet.
I have one of these. It rocks. Still don’t know how to use the tube, or why I’d want to. Plus the settings don’t seem to change anything in terms of the sealing, but who cares? I sous vide steak that’s been bag sealed and man oh man is it tasty. Also freezer seal fish and such. Worth the dive to buy one. I might just buy another as a backup. - love, a Meh employee who works off commission on sales numbers.
Mee tooo,… ‘Finally! Been waiting for one of these to come around since I bought the Chefman Sous Vide Precision Cooker on here! Let’s cook all the things!!!’ also as someone just said apparently marinating in a vacuum sealed bag really infuses the marinate to your dish. Had some paella chicken recently that was marinated this way and was the very best I’ve ever had!
I pull the trigger, Mama got a brand new ( Re-Ferb ) sealer. (Bronze-dense-feather) seal,seal,seal- seal-it-up mama will take it… (that is super cheesy of me, Stevie Ray Vaughan is probably turning over in his grave now). And James Brown would probably kick me in the nuts.
I appreciate the poetry, but the meter is terrible. Fixed it for you. Added a couplet. Now it’s a sonnet!
I wish that I couldst take my love for thee
And seal it in a pouch not to be torn,
Til lowly poets and high royalty
Can speak their love together without scorn.
But for my heart, there is yet no defense,
As though it hath been wrapped and forth been tossed
Upon warm seas turned there to tenderness,
Its outline whole, but fortitude now lost.
I beg thee, move thy love to shelves of ice,
And give it not to one with noble crown!
I promise thee, it will be just as nice
Whence comes the day that I may take it down.
Our love shall last the longer vacuum-sealed
Til we may feast and make of it a meal.
@genemat You should look into Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers. We bought several of them and no longer have flimsy carrots and broccoli and rotten spring mix. Only down side is that they take up a lot of room in the fridge and so a couple of them have to live on the normal shelves.
Just sayin’ – this thing rocks. I put three entire deer in these little vacuum seal thingies. Kept expecting it to scream “STOP!” all day, but it didn’t. Just kept right on sucking air out and heat sealing. Saved me at least $600 in processing fees. THANKS MEH!

This seals the deal tonight — sucks the air right out of Meh deal
Perfect for sealing up feces to mail to an enemy.
@vinuash But then they just throw it away because it’s sealed so well they can’t smell anything.
@norman8 good to send to a friend then. Keeps that fresh poop smell.
This item sucks … air
Is the vacuum sealer officially the new speaker dock?
/giphy speaker dock
^ Just cuz I’m curious.
@stinks no, the Martian smart watches are the new speaker dock
@akparker777 Fair. And just like when I bought those $2 (?) 30-pin docks that came with Bluetooth dongles, I’m scared if I see the Martian’s for any cheaper with the “guarantee”, I’ll be in for one of those, too.
Where am I supposed to put my phone?
@norman8 Quart sized bag should do it.

My first purchase on meh was the $22 sealer. I’m finally upgrading.
Put a marinade in with a meat (or whatecer) for an instant infusion of flavor. Maybe it should be called the Food Savory.

@twojs1b I just got mine in. DOA.

these make margarita bags!
(which make awesome ice-bags)
Does this keep …herbs…fresh?
@davidwr99 Have your friend ask for themself.
@davidwr99 That was this one, I believe:
@mike808 Who said I had any friends.
@davidwr99 Works pretty well for weed…so herbs would probably be fine.
@davidwr99 @MrMark Sure does! security sealed from the delivery guy, and reusable. Take it to go in a thermos of say split pea w ham?
this better sucks better than last times v2222 for 22!

I got 2 Rival sealers before(one purchased outright, the other gifted to a friend from a fuku), it’s time for an upgrade.
/giphy uninvited-nerdy-robin
This same one was my first meh purchase long ago. Still works great!
@jnicholson0619 Mine too! It started this Meh addiction! Bought a second one for kicks!

@Stormchaser the slash command just needs to be at the beginning of a line, and in a first level comment as opposed to a reply to a comment.
PS I own this sealer, bought here, and love it.

@Felyne I mean HUGE margins.
@whogots Good to know!

I hope this works as well as some of you say it will.
@magic_cave Mine works flawlessly.
Also the container hose attachment is stored in the lid instead of getting lost in a drawer.
While this is much taller and is not as easily stored, I prefer it.

I have this one! Love it!
The roll stash in the top of the thing is really great.
I agree with @borisgoodenough that juicier items don’t always seal, but I’ve gotten in the habit of not doing juicier items
/giphy pants-lumpy-weasel
@rprussell I pre-freeze everything.
@rprussell @sammydog01 Pre-freezing works if you’re sealing it for the freezer. Less practical for something fresh that you want to cook sous vide.
I have one of these. It rocks. Still don’t know how to use the tube, or why I’d want to. Plus the settings don’t seem to change anything in terms of the sealing, but who cares? @arfdawg the tube is for plastic containers.

Hopefully will save all my veggies from spoiling in the bottom drawers.
@genemat Your vegetables should keep better in the refrigerator than in your drawers.
@genemat You should look into Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers. We bought several of them and no longer have flimsy carrots and broccoli and rotten spring mix. Only down side is that they take up a lot of room in the fridge and so a couple of them have to live on the normal shelves.
I bought this thing last time around. Works great. You can buy refills super-cheap on Amazon.
For the people that buy the giant refills, do you unwind some of them so it fits in the machine or what?
In for 1, and I became a member so I stop bitching how shipping kills the smaller deals.
How is this better than the sealing domes they sold before? I use the plastic plates exactly 10” and they are fine.
@sippinndippin this is for longer term storage. It gets almost all the air out. Great for buying bulk meats and freezing them.
Same refurb product at manufacturer $99.99 on sale $68.99…$40 here…Meh. A little bit of a counter hog, but will do

Got mine yesterday, and it works fine!
Now stand back everyone, I must seal all the things.
Mine arrived dead on arrival. I could hear something rattling around when I flipped it over.
@thomasbihn Mine was also dead on arrival. I tried it out tonight and did the suggested troubleshooting steps, still doesn’t vacuum.
@thomasbihn Yep same here, doesn’t vacuum. I’m too lazy to return it, but I won’t ever buy anything on this website again.
Failed to seal the bags right out of the box. No good. To be returned. I wouldn’t even dare to donate it to charity…
@traianm I had an issue with mine until I fiddled with the door. Now it works.
Only 3 bad out of 1096 sold? Cool. Mine looks and performs as new.
Just tried it last week and it doesn’t vacuum. Hoping I can get a refund or new one.
Mine is defective
