@CharlieDoggo What the heck did your mom do to squashy frog to make it crunchy? You might like squishy frogs if you try them. My cats will eat lizards and salamanders and I presume if they got their paws on them frogs. They also like cricket and grasshopper heads (but not the bodies) so you might want to try those when you are in the yard.

@narfcake Yeah I believe a hair dryer maybe some boiling water and he might be able to make it look better. I’ve seen some YouTube videos that have it back to looking new, it’s really amazing. The only thing is this is the very edge or corner of the bumper, probably the hardest part to fix. I’m still waiting for him to take a picture, when he does I’ll post it.

@phendrick My dog (Ash) wants to join in on the blame because I feed the two cats before I feed him in the morning. I keep telling him that if he learned to yowl more annoyingly than they do, I might adjust the morning routine in his favor.

Well my guy Tuc meow meow isn’t passing any blame, he’s happy with having his bowl of dry food filled up 24/7. He’s got a little anxiety and our ears (& hearts) can’t take his high pitched crying when there’s only a few nuggets left. He’d probably be thrilled about your yard full of leaves though, he only gets to sit in the window being teased by watching them blowing around. Yesterday, no joke, he almost jumped through the screen just to get one! Plus he loves a good car ride!

@Kyeh Thanks. It’s weird, I’ve spent so much of the last decade medicating cats that I’m kind of lost.

It wasn’t just the medication, it was checking on them to make sure they were doing okay.

If there is a Rainbow Bridge and we see our guys after we die, I sure hope Bobby is back with my mom. She loved that cat. The last time I heard her belly laugh was before she went into the facility and Bobby had climbed on her (she was laying down) and she just laughed and laughed and laughed while petting him.

And still no water, city finally decided (how many days late???) to issue a boil water notice late yesterday for the few that have a dribble of water. Yeah ok so I boil air? - oh wait that is called heat. THAT I still have. And it is supposed to go over freezing today, the first time in 4 days, so we all know what happens when frozen pipes freeze and then thaw… so this no water crap is going to get worse before it gets better.

On the upside I went to someone’s house in a different city (but same metro area) last evening that is on a different water system that has no issues, her water is full pressure, took a shower and raised her water bill, in addition to the shower, by 11 gallons (filled up a 5 gal and 6 gal container so I can flush the toilet occasionally wash my hands…)

Actually I believe someone pork barreled 600M in the budget bill that just passed to help with this mess. I hope to god there is federal oversight of that money, otherwise the same city people who “disappeared” the 43.7M water meter settlement money will be even richer. One estimate I read is 1.2B to fix the entire water system here. Of course I have no idea how much of that estimate is to account for “skimming”, kick backs, and “fees”.

Then again we just hired the trash removal company that New Orleans fired (well didn’t renew their contract) for failure to pick up trash there. Apparently someone here thought that was a good idea because why would we want our trash picked up reliably? If we leave it on the curb long enough the dumpster divers will have picked up some of it thus less for the landfill. Isn’t that how you compost too? (). Oh wait. I am sure if we dig deep enough we will discover the kickbacks involved. I didn’t even keep track of the fights city counsel and the mayor had over which trash pick up contract to ratify other than they disagreed and the mayor won. Of course if you don’t pick up the trash on a regular basis it shows you need someone to do it cuz, well, look at all that trash we have on the curb. Job security for the trash pick up company. Until it’s not.

And don’t even get me started on the roads. I already posted a while back pictures of what is growing in pot holes here like planted gardens, on a summer day a make shift hot tub and/or wading pool (although one I drove by on a regular basis would have been more like a small swimming pool as it was more than 6’ deep I saw when they finally drained the water out and fixed it).

But hey - we come in first in something - first in being a 3rd world country in the US of A. Good thing since we are last in health care and nearly last in education and a pile of other stuff. The entire country would be better off if this state was a part of the Gulf of Mexico… as in under it… except from what I have seen in the way of projections, even worse case, this city will escape that fate even if the southern half of the state won’t.

Although you’d likely enjoy walks here with all sorts of interesting things littering the sidewalks and streets, permanent puddles to play in and you’d never be thirsty on a walk as you’d be able to water to drink from fire hydrants that are left running for 18+ months… I bet your mom would then have you on a really, really short leash.

Maybe do what I did and become a rescue? I found mom and she is great. I get to sleep in the bed, there is food AND water in my bowls all the time, and unlimited belly rubs. And as you know a nice cabinet full of crunchy frogs and peanut butter treats! Well less full because mom made me share my crunchy fogs with Uncle Buddy for Christmas. But I decided that means now they are at his house when I come visit!!! Win-win

More blame. While one zip code has full water and likely will have the boil water notice lifted, the trickle we have on and off is not consistent with the statement they hope to lift the boil water notice for everyone on Sunday sometime. Yeah right. It’s now the 31st. You have to have multiple tests over 48 hours that come up clean. To even test you need to have full water pressure. At least with the trickle I could refill all my containers so I can occasionally flush the toilet again. That took a while.

Also bought a Breville Mini Smart Oven that I didn’t need, a knockoff Teeturtle plush, and a 2021-release Squishmallow Flip-a-mallow (Tasha/Mila) with tags – which at $3.98, was actually the most expensive of the four items.

Wasn’t there only about 1500 or so involved in the toothbrush shenanigans? And surely only a few from your area of the country. They should just donate their unwanted meh and cat t-shirts straight to you and skip the intermediate steps involved for you to be the new owner.

Last I checked nose bumping is a “kiss”/greeting with dogs/cats. Some dogs just like to go slobbery on humans for some reason but idk that that’s normal. I make some kissy faces at what ever cat is in my face sometimes to get a nose bump lol.

I think we’ve all held on to those knife blocks for 20-30+ years, I know mine didn’t come with a expiration date! With downsizing and not a lot of counter space I’m excited to use one of those magnetic knife strips when I get back to my condo.

My most favorite knife is my beloved Wusthof chef’s knife; it’s decades old and the blade is only 6.5" but it’s what I always always reach for. I highly recommend it.

I do remember seeing those magnetic knife strips on Side Deal. Last year I gifted a knife set w/the strip that came from over there, the young recipient was thrilled.
Old knives are the best, a good one can last a lifetime, I’ve seen that with some that my moms had forever. Don’t think I’ve ever bought a high enough quality knife to last that long which is pretty ironic since I’ve always used sterling silver plated silverware!

Since I’m not only terrible at reading my email but also deleting it I was able to see June 27 is when my email with the coupon codes came in and the subject was “Congrats and/or Sorry!”. Hope that helps you in finding your original.

With that info, I searched and found the email. None of my searches before were successful. (I had a free email account with protonmail.com, aliased at pm.me, and liked them so much I went ahead and got a paid account with them. If you believe that NOBODY should be able to read your email, check them out. They also have free, very secure VPN. I like everything about them, 'cept having issues with their search function seeming to miss things, depending on the phase of the moon and how many times you checked the weather.)

@ExtraMedium @Lynnerizer @phendrick I’ve had a pm account for years. Totally agree. I use their bridge for outlook integration and it helps the search quite a bit. Mobile app is ok. I do find the delete function to be quite slow to respond. Still worth the hassle (small) for the security.

This is a framing bias.)

@CharlieDoggo Nah, I need to put the contents into storage for a while, so need the boxes. At least my dog has gotten mature enough to no longer chew on just anything within reach (including table legs when she was a pup). Plus I give her plenty of real snacks to stave that off.

@Kyeh We’re in a wind advisory for tomorrow, though not bad. Last time we had major wind, it took one of our trees down that took power out to the entire block for about 4 days. At least that can’t happen again, right? If it does, I know who to blame.

@PocketBrain oh I love all the weather, it is wonderful. Today water falls and I love to just stand in it and feel it in my fur! It also makes the ground soft and it is fun to run and slide

Oh @Lynnerizer I am sory. Especially so close to Santa Paws!!! Maybe take TWO PB treats and go lay on the couch. If that does not work, maybe call the vet. I hate the vet, mine seems nice, but then they stick me and shoot water up my nose, and mom always says THANK YOU. Really?!?! Feel better.
