Fashion in 2020
6So I am working and I see people out and about. I am starting to notice some fashion trends. Tell me about the trends near you.
- Even more athleisure attire then previously
- Earrings are no longer dangling tassels or large (because get in mask way) but instead small but very bright colors
- Masks are most commonly white, blue , or black. However, there are a ton of sports team masks and there is a certain fashionable woman who is matching her mask to shirt.
- Men are wearing longer hair and beards

1 and 4 have been a trend for a while now.
I just shaved my beard. Makes masks less effective for one thing… But really I got tired of the itching prickly phase. I gave it 4 months and prickliness never went away for me, guess my hairs are too thick to have a comfortable beard. Back to alternating between stubble/clean shaven for me.
I coordinate my mask with my outfit. I don’t match, too expensive to have enough masks to match… But if I’m wearing black trousers I wear a black mask… White shirt = white mask for me. Natural colors = tan mask for me. I tend to overdress and coordinate more than most guys… Not from vanity, but I’ve learned over the years that people are nicer to you if you’re dressed nicely.
I make my own masks so I have a matching mask for almost all of my outfits.
@AuntMean67 I recently ordered a patterned variety 5 pack from Old Navy… I got:
Solid grey, solid grey, solid dark grey, solid dark grey, and camo
Not much matching with that… Lol.
I’m not well versed in the stitching arts to make my own. I can fix a button and fix a hole (poorly) but that’s the extent of my ability.
@AuntMean67 @OnionSoup hhuummm…know who you should blame for that?
@OnionSoup wears socks with sandals.
@OnionSoup Until now noone needed to learn to sew anymore with clothing so cheap and disposable. ( And I’m about to jump on my political soapbox. Sorry.)
My wife got a mailorder offer for personalized monogrammed facemasks, for the low low price of 3/$100!
Only printed, not embroidered, and the initials are so small, someone would have to be a foot or two away to read it.
I’m not coordinating with anything, but I do have a variety of masks: Silence of the Lambs moth, A-10 Warthog, Darth Vader, Alien facehugger, the good old bandanna, and a full on plague doctor mask.
I really do need a cloak to go with the plague doctor mask though.
@blaineg We need to see a photo of the plague doctor mask!
@Kyeh
@blaineg @Kyeh omg!!! I bet people leave you alone if you wear THAT in public
@blaineg @tinamarie1974 Wow, really! Is it leather?
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Nope, fake leather. It was something like $30-35 on Amazon. With my warped sense of humor, it was a must have.
I haven’t worn it to a store yet, but I’ve got some wonderful reactions at work.
I just received a couple really cute masks from Vera Bradley, if anyone out there loves Vera too.
@moonhat Brighton Collectibles has some cute ones too.
If you’re a gearhead, here’s a lot of options. Blipshift was where I got the A-10 mask, but it’s gone.

@blaineg Single-layer nylon-poly. Sounds very breathable. I would be very concerned about actual effectiveness.
Woot was the source of the Vader and Facehugger masks, but they’re out of stock now. They’ve got lots of others though.
Since I make masks, I have lots of different ones but more often they clash with whatever shirt I’m wearing at the time.
Darth Vader mask is really nice, worth buying.
