Just dropping in to say that my life has been improved by those Duracell power banks from a couple weeks ago. They’re great because they have pass through charging. As we speak, the power is out at my house and I’m charging anyway.
I don’t know why I bought this, I now will own four battery packs. . I plan to have them all charged for when the power goes out or I’m out hiking. However, I probably ought to look into self discharge rates before I purchase any more.
Mahn, Meh read my mihnd again. I’ve been looking around for a 10,000mAh power bank to keep in my wheelchair’s tool bag. Phone, iPad, camera, (once I get the one I bought from Meh last week) all covered! I can go have fun under the clownish-jaunty-sun without worry!
As of a few days ago, there are now two kinds of people in the world: people playing Pokémon Go, and people complaining about their social media feeds being overrun with posts by the first kind of people.
There is, in fact, a third category of people in the world: those who just don’t care about Pokewhatever and don’t do social media and are therefore not impacted in any way by this latest flash in the pan fad.
Give it a couple of weeks and it will go the way of the pet rock and Webvan.
@Felicianomiko That’s too bad. I forget what sort of warranty they had, but it might be worth checking out if it was a 1 year manf.
Luckily for me, both of mine work fantastically and charge fully, after near-daily use. My brother uses his as the powerhub for people at his work, and I use mine for much needed power with the dogs on long walks.
They’ve held up well under heavy demand in this 40ºC+ heat down here in the south.
@katbyter Had the same question. Manufacturer page says the 4400 and 10400 sizes are right. The 7800 is listed as 4.1 x 2.6 x 1.0. Seems odd that the middle one would be longer.
@katbyter@RedOak@halnwheels@cinoclav Darndest thing, the dimensions on the English section of the box are different from the French section. Do the French have different inches? @Chadp says they’re called Frinches but I think he’s a liar. Anyway the correct American Inch dimensions are in now.
I think this is one of the few times that meh will be faster than Amazon. The large one is currently available in 1-2 months.

@RedOak I always get suspicious of review distributions like that, too, but Fakespot gives it an A with 90%+ high quality reviews (ie not that freebie “honest and unbiased” bullshit). Impressive!
@RedOak@currawong If you filter it by Verified Purchases there are only 11 reviews. However, of those 11, nine are 5 star, one is 4 star, and one is 3 star. The 3 star is due to slow charging of the pack itself. As others don’t have that complaint I’d chalk it up to someone using a low amp charger or not realizing that a 10400 battery takes a hell of a lot longer to charge than their phone.
@chacham I get your point (not sure why they weren’t on the screen when I captured that). But as long as I know the total review count - at the top, then % only doesn’t bother me.
@RedOak A sizeable majority of the reviews were from people who got them free from vining a review…
[I looked at them all, and clicked No help for all the freebies.]
@cinoclav Thanks- I hadn’t realized that we could filter them that way.
However, I also like down-voting the freebied reviews.
I just wish there was a better [read some] way to keep them from “gaming” the process.
I’m high as hell and the description for this is the funniest thing I’ve read today, I think. I think they are selling magic. Boxes of magic. Wow! The text does funny things on this site when it autocorrects! It’s working overtime right now. Do you ever scratch an itch and you can tell if it feels good or if it’s painful? I also feel like when I touch part of my body I can feel it in another part. Do you think they’re linked? Who am I talking to? This comment has fulfilled its potential
@PhotoJim@chr No scarlet in the picture now, but moments after the photo was taken, the anteater fell into the water and was instantly torn to pieces by a rare flesh-eating vampire duck. Once the terrifying shrieking stopped, the water ran scarlet red with blood and flesh. How would the circuit breaker work when multiple items are being sold? If one is selling well does the breaker trip for just the one item or all items?
Okay, if the big one has two 2.1A ports but its maximum output is 2.1A, does that mean that the output will be limited to 2.1A total between the ports?
I usually see the ratings on these where the max output exceeds one of the ports, but maybe that’s not how these folks roll…
does anyone know what the effective mAh of these packs are? the nominal rating can be pretty meaningless if the circuitry is inneficient. i think 70% efficiency is pretty typical, but it looks like efficiency can range from 40%-80% depending on brand.
@tjamesturner I would have gone broke if I’d spent $30 for each of the far too many USB batteries we have.
The trick to savings for a cheapskate is patience and price watching.
The competition for attention in this category on Amazon is brutal. There must be hundreds if not thousands of choices. You just gotta be there when a reputable attention-getter puts their head on the price-chopping block.
@RedOak i would rather spend 30$ on a device that has been proven to work in an independent test, than 10$ on a peice of crap that i will simply throw away. i’m a cheap skate on most things, but when i’m looking for something to put in my carry-on luggage, money is not the only scarce resource. i can’t afford to put 2 of these guys in my bag rather than 1 decent charger even if it does save me 5$.
@tjamesturner I don’t buy cheap $10 crap either - except here on Meh .
But I do buy from solid brands like RAVPower and Anker. With tons of user reviews. And by watching the prices, pay a lot less than $30 for large batteries. Those brands have served us well. And they have amazing support - especially RAV.
@RedOak I love Anker, I’d buy anything they stick their name on. Once you’ve used battery packs with Qualcomm 2.0 or 3.0 capabilities with a corresponding device, you’ll never go back to just any battery pack.
@sohmageek it was sold out for me closer to 8. And i don’t know with this potential schedule, time zones, and daylight savings, circuit breaker could be any time lol.
Hey it’s my first meh purchase ever despite visiting the site over a year! Thanks, me, whom lost his old power bank in an Uber and failed to recover it the other day
@RiotDemon I got two 7800s and they both say “IN” with the “N” reversed by the micro port. Pretty sure it’s not supposed to be a Z with a line under it.
Maybe that’s why meh got the lot of them cheaply?
It seems to do what it’s supposed to, so I’m not complaining.
Mine came in today… both boxes were already open and the backs torn from where someone opened them previously. Both had their USB cables, and they seem functional… so, meh?
Been using it for the past few days, and I’ve found that it pretty much just keeps up with PoGo’s drain. Depending on stuff like screen brightness, strength of cell signal, and whether or not it’s using straight GPS, it’ll either slowly charge (2-5%/hr) or slowly discharge (1-3%/hr) if I keep the game running the whole time. Though, FWIW, the “battery saver” feature where the screen shuts off if the phone’s held upside down doesn’t work on my phone, which leads to higher draw.
What’s better for my phone’s battery: to let my phone drain to ~70% before plugging it in, and turn it on and off to keep the charge level in the 70s & 80s, or just have it plugged in and drawing from the Jumpr right before I start up PoGo, even if my cellphone battery’s in the high 90s?
I’m thinking that maybe the 70-80% charge rule doesn’t apply in this instance, since either charging to 100 then drawing from the Jumpr instead, or slowly discharging from the 90s is probably a whole lot less wear than constantly cycling the battery 10-15%.
Out of curiosity, I tested mine with a USB meter today, into a constant 450mAh load… the freshly charged 10400 mAh model only supplies 6600 mAh. And consumes 9960 mAh to charge. That’s 1650 mAh capacity per cell. Probably some recycled laptop batteries or something in there. Mehhhhhhh.
So after using this for a couple of weeks while on a road trip, I’ve found my iPhone’s battery rapidly drains. Has anyone else noticed this after using the device?
@thismyusername
I am on GSM but had considered a possible roaming issue when I was out and about, but this is my first full day back and I’ve already had to charge it once after less than 4 hours of normal use. It’s quite odd, could be unrelated to the power pack, it just seemed to be a too sudden and sharp decline to be natural capacity loss and the pack is the only new thing besides the two weeks of roaming.
Purchased three of the 7800’s. (The 10400’s were sold out before I saw the sale.) Have only used one so far. Worked great at first, but after three recharges, it refuses to take a charge. Guess it’s time to see how Enerplex is about warranty exchanges.
Got two of the 4400s. With a 2 amp load, both only output 1.5A (expected) at 4.6V (meh). One had a total output of 1450mAh, the other one 2560mAh. Not even close to the rated capacity. I’m disappointed, but I think that is what Meh is going for anyway.
@RiotDemon that’s a shame, my enerplex seems really well made and feels solid, and I have no complaints so far. Best wishes with customer support. I’m hoping the Garadise works out well; mine is in transit.
@salaosantiago I’m really hoping they replace it. It has worked really well until whatever decided to come loose. It wouldn’t charge at all, just the light would flash briefly if I plugged my phone in or pressed the power button. Then I shook it a little bit and it works, until I move it again.
My Garadise is still processing. Hoping it’s high quality.
@RiotDemon try swapping out the cable you’re using? i have a pile of chargers from Meh. and some cables, even though perfectly fine, act like you are describing.
@Yoda_Daenerys you might be onto something here. I have been using the supplied cable. I did try a different one I had handy, and it worked without issues. (Except it’s one of those cables that my phone screams at me that it’s slow to charge.) I’ll have to see if I have any other normal cables. Maybe they’ll send me a replacement as a warranty thing.
I don’t know why it’s so hard to get a cable that charges normally. If I borrow someone’s Samsung charger, which apparently supports quick charge, it works fine. I’ve bought “OEM” replacement HTC cables that look exactly like the one that came with my phone, but they give me the slow charge warning as well. I guess I’ll have to shell out $20-30 for a legit cable somewhere.
@RiotDemon my son tells me there is a difference between a usb data cable and charging cable, and one type gives the slow charge warning.
if you just keep buying stuff from Meh. you should be able to amass enough usb cables to avoid the $20-30 route. at least that seems to be my strategy sickness.
@Yoda_Daenerys unfortunately when purchasing cables from Amazon or eBay… I guess they just straight up lie to get your money. I haven’t had any luck getting one that works properly.
The one that comes with the Garadise charger looks pretty short. The EnerPlex one was perfect because I could have the charger in my back pocket and still be able to hold my phone comfortably. I was hoping to get a second charger that works properly so I could leave it at work.
All the original cables I’ve gotten with my phones have worn out. I did have some replacements that would quick charge at first, but after a few months, they would start to give me that slow charge warning. I guess I could always update my phone. It’s only been three years.

Warranty is a 1 year, so you have a few months left.

Here’s the link to the listing for 11 Dec, 2015.

So why is the “little” one actually larger size than the “middle” one? On all three dimensions. Were the columns switched?
@katbyter Good eye. Does seem odd. Only the largest model size agrees with what is listed on Amazon. @moose?
@RedOak I was checking here to see if anyone else saw that.
@katbyter Had the same question. Manufacturer page says the 4400 and 10400 sizes are right. The 7800 is listed as 4.1 x 2.6 x 1.0. Seems odd that the middle one would be longer.

@katbyter I don’t care, I just want MOAR POWER- so i’m in for 10[400]K!
Although it is a good question, i must admit.
@Moose The French like to lie about size. That’s why they’re considered lovers, not fighters.

One of my two boxes came in wrapped in plastic. Both units appeared brand spankin’ new and seem to be working fine, so it’s all good.

Mehhhhhhh.
These are rad AF, 10x better & faster than my 2800mah bricks.
So after using this for a couple of weeks while on a road trip, I’ve found my iPhone’s battery rapidly drains. Has anyone else noticed this after using the device?
@ThrowingChicken not sure physics would allow this…
the battery use is a direct correlation to how much power the iphone is using… not where it gets its charge…
are you by any chance using a CDMA provider (verizon/sprint/us cellular)… because CDMA eats power while it’s searching for signal…

I didn’t know the giphy showed up when you comment
It didn’t!
@123987jan you have to put /giphy + whatever words you want, on a separate line to generate a gif
/giphy+
@123987jan more like this…
/giphy +
But that isn’t really interesting, so lets try this also…
/giphy thanks Obama
Notice the space after /giphy then the search terms. Also note that /giphy only works at the beginning of a line. Good luck! And happy giphying!
Well… My power bank is failing. There must be a loose connection inside or something because if I move it, it quits charging.
I’ve emailed EnerPlex. Hopefully I’ll get resolution. Maybe my Garadise unit will get shipped soon.
Thanks for the well wishes.
@RiotDemon try swapping out the cable you’re using? i have a pile of chargers from Meh. and some cables, even though perfectly fine, act like you are describing.
/giphy usb cable
@RiotDemon my son tells me there is a difference between a usb data cable and charging cable, and one type gives the slow charge warning.
if you just keep buying stuff from Meh. you should be able to amass enough usb cables to avoid the $20-30 route. at least that seems to be my
strategysickness.@Yoda_Daenerys unfortunately when purchasing cables from Amazon or eBay… I guess they just straight up lie to get your money.
Broke after I broke it
Seriously, the on button got stuck after approximately 3-4 uses, now it’s broken
