East vs West: THE SEQUEL
4As an advocate for suicide awareness, I participate in a powerful fundraising event which is a 16 mile overnight walk. The locations for next year's events are San Francisco May 21-22 or NYC June 4-5. I've never been to either locale. Which would you pick and why? Bonus points for knowing of inexpensive lodging and/or having a couch a 6 footer can sleep on. FYI: I'm in Texas so travel is the same either way.

Is this for pro or con?
@DaveInSoCal Gotta love a good smartass. Bugs Bunny would be proud!
I dearly love San Francisco, but I have to be honest, there are some pretty steep hills. The walking route could be relatively flat. I'm betting you'd prefer the air and weather in SF - usually cool with often foggy afternoons. There are some decently priced hotels down on Lombard near The Marina District.
Oh, and if you go, check out Hopwater Distribution for beers and 83 Proof for cocktails. I may know the owner.
I would imagine that it would be a but cheaper to stay in San Francisco. San Francisco is expensive, but you can find some great deals. The weather will be great that time of year.
I'm from the east coast, and go to the west coast for work sometimes.. I'd go west, the weather is much nicer! I've never been to san fran, but LA weather is nice!
San Francisco.
While I am an Eastie. I spent 3 months in SF and loved it. Go West, young man (or girl), Go West!
I love both places, but an overnight walk in May in SF could be very cold. Wasn't it Mark Twain who said the coldest winter he ever experienced was the summer he spent in SF?
@AnnaB "May is one of the best times to visit the city, in terms of the weather, with clear blue skies and little fog expected." No blue skies at night, but it should still be one of the better times of year for an event like this.
