@DoctorOW@RiotDemon I got my one and only irk from side deal and it had a filthy, sticky and non-functioning pair of ugly orange/pink LG around the neck BT buds. I didn’t even think about putting them in my ears but they wouldn’t even charge so they were garbage. My brother got the same returned trash buds in his irk. Instant regret confirmed!
I invested in one really nice pair of cans and a few cheap ones from here on meh for phone conferencing. Buds hurt my ears after a while so over-ear is my choice.
Now sit back and enjoy all the “bud buying” jokes.
@tweezak I came here to say this, minus the weed joke. I never listen to music on my phone, just use buds from Meh for work calls. I bought a pair of Grado headphones last year for my stereo and they are amazing beyond belief.
@00 Grados are superb. Best sound per dollar that can be had IMO. I’ve mentioned them in the forums in the past. I think they are even still made in the USA. I also love their cool 50s look. The only downsides are that they are corded and open. I prefer a sealed headphone because I’m usually blocking distractions. I can’t stand active noise canceling headphones because of the constant sound pressure. It isn’t painful just uncomfortable and hugely distracting.
Normally I was buying a decent behind the neck set to get the longest battery life, but decent ones are getting harder to find, and LG apparently is incapable of making a set that holds up to me.
I’ve ordered a few sets of true wireless buds recently between here and Amazon, each under $50, and so far I’m not mad about any except the first pair, which apparently come unpaired from each other if somebody sneezed within 100 miles. I misplaced the whole set, however, so I’ll move on to the others
@ebatch Thanks for the testimonial. I’m getting sick of the shills on YouTube. It has become so prevalent and obviously scripted that I’ve basically decided I’ll never buy their products just as a form of protest.
I went with musician’s grade earphones. After 30 years of nothing fitting I gave up. Several hundred for an ear fitting but the results stay in place and have great sound!
I’m in my 60s and trying my second company as they last so long that they are cheaper than anything else. But both my old earplugs and new have the same sound quality.
Do not go with “sound controller”. That should be a different item (as I learnt in my 50s).
@Evansdoor You should take a look at the new wireless product from Ultimate Ears. I preordered a set because I love my custom earplugs and these are supposed to mold to your ears.
@tweezak i am on A LOT of calls. So can’t have downtime when charging. Also I have multiple offices so I don’t have to keep lugging around. I have 4 pairs total.
@hammi99 Now there’s a product idea. Actually related to another meh poll. QI charging implants in your skull or ears so your buds never die.
Somehow I think replaceable and rechargeable batteries kind of like hearing aids would catch on first. That would be great…pop out the dead batteries and swap with the ones in the charger and you’re back up and running.
Of course that would cut into sales so forget it.
I use all the ones that came in my BOC’s, still using the 99 cent ones from the same givers of crap and the ones I got from the only fuko I ever scored. Most are wired but a couple are those complex fancy wireless ones.
I buy all the headphones and I believe I have a problem. I own… counting …10 pairs of headphones (mostly buds). They’re all decent pairs ($50-150) and they are all my babies. I love all of my babies.
As others have said, both. I have wired in-ear, wireless over-ear, and true wireless buds in a variety of price ranges and quality. I tend to use the cheap wired ones because they’re easily replaced, and any claim I might ever have had to being an audiophile vanished long ago, accompanied by a good chunk of my hearing.
Lots of assorted wired, wireless, earbuds, headphones, with and without noise cancelling. I use them primarily when working outside (mowing etc) so not too picky about sound quality. Many are from here and a few from back in the day when I frequented woot more often. One set was part of an irk recently.
The common factor is all where < $25 a set (most by a large margin…)
The only earbuds I’ve used came with my Playstation Portable (PSP). They fit well (no earcovers) but the wires are starting to peel so it’s only a matter of time before they stop working so I’ve been thinking of getting something new.
Like @tweezak, I’ve seen online commercials for Raycons and looked to see if there were any good reviews. That’s when I found a Youtube channel called Custom Adventurist . He thoroughly reviews earbuds and does a lot of comparison videos. Here is one of them:
Thanks to his videos, I decided to get the Galaxy Buds+ but I totally understand why people like Airpod Pro.
Don’t buy any and just see what you get in an IRK.
@RiotDemon Ear infection?
@tweezak possibly.
@RiotDemon @tweezak Protip to reduce ear infection. Check if the IRK contains earbuds before sticking whatever you get into your ear

MY favourites are the Sony MDR-EX71. Sadly they stopped making these years ago so when they die I will have to find something new.
@yakkoTDI These are my favorite too (for wired buds at least)!!! I frankensteined my last pair for a couple of years before they finally gave out.

I bought a bunch of these ones:
They’re cheap and durable and I like wires.
@sammydog01 How long do they take to charge?
@eeterrific That’s the best part, they never run down!
@eeterrific @sammydog01
meh charged for them as soon as the order was placed…
@chienfou @sammydog01 so…they came fully charged…
My Raycon’s are outstanding!
@ebatch Thanks for the testimonial. I’m getting sick of the shills on YouTube. It has become so prevalent and obviously scripted that I’ve basically decided I’ll never buy their products just as a form of protest.
Isn’t that the purpose of Meh?
Hmm. I just googled this on a whim… Apparently, everything exists.
Por que no los dos? Or more?
B&O H7 cans (I have H9 over-the-ears paired with my work phone, and I don’t like them as much)
MuveAcoustics Drive wired cheapies, which get eaten by the cats 3-4 times a year
Echobox Ti-22BT hangydangly Bluetooth from Morningsave, for yardwork

Combination of the two answers. I buy many pairs of AirPodsPro and AirPods.
@hammi99 What, pray tell, brings you to meh, your grace?
@hammi99 also…you say you buy many pairs of these. Do they fail that often or do you lose them? You do know they aren’t made for swimming.
@tweezak i am on A LOT of calls. So can’t have downtime when charging. Also I have multiple offices so I don’t have to keep lugging around. I have 4 pairs total.

I’m using Earin M2’s. Still the best-looking ear buds 2 or 3 years after they came out.
I use all the ones that came in my BOC’s, still using the 99 cent ones from the same givers of crap and the ones I got from the only fuko I ever scored. Most are wired but a couple are those complex fancy wireless ones.
Shure 535s. Amazing sound and when the cord gets a short, you just replace it.
AirPods Pro. So sue me.
I buy all the headphones and I believe I have a problem. I own… counting …10 pairs of headphones (mostly buds). They’re all decent pairs ($50-150) and they are all my babies. I love all of my babies.
/giphy baby headphones
I can’t get a good gif, so I’m just leaving it with this one.
@zinimusprime Me either but I found this gem.
@sammydog01 hahahahaha
@sammydog01 @zinimusprime Is this a critical lesson demonstration in the Swag Class?
@ELJAY @zinimusprime IT’S A SERIES OF LESSONS! I so wish I had one of those Steve Harvey t-shirts. That guy is great!
Now-cheap earpods for casual use / reliability / work laptop, airpods for podcasts while doing stuff, real headphones for music.
c.) never buy any because you have no use for them.

Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 normally … Bose Quiet Comfort 20 when travelling (as they’re noise cancelling).

Anker Liberty 2. Straight forward operation and great sound!
